Ridiculous practical question but does anyone know if the boot space has finally been improved. It's beyond crap in the old version!
My wife would like one as her next car but she said you can barely fit a pram in the back, let alone shopping too, so what use is that as a family car?
"beyond crap" compared to what? Current Tiguan is ballpark the same as other medium size cars. New one is a third larger. My wife would like one as her next car but she said you can barely fit a pram in the back, let alone shopping too, so what use is that as a family car?
My wife and I had a look at one a couple of times and on the second visit, we borrowed our friends Stokke pram and it really struggled to fit the boot of the car. Once you got it in, there was zero chance you could get any shopping in the car so what's the point of a car like this? It makes it utterly impractical.
I'm hoping the new car is better as my wife still likes the car...

The fact that you can barely fit a pram in the back of a family car is pretty crap and this is exactly the target they are after.
.
Seems as much space in the back of my wife's Tig as what she had in her old Golf. Never had problems with prams. .
The back seats move forward too in the Tiguan.
Get a smaller pram, instead of a bigger car. Don't let the kids dictate your life totally.....

So does every mum have to have a FFRR?My wife and I had a look at one a couple of times and on the second visit, we borrowed our friends Stokke pram and it really struggled to fit the boot of the car. I think the Seat Ateca will actually be more successful than the new Tiguan. The Qashqai has had it too easy for too long, surprised it has taken VAG this long to bring out a real competitor to it. The Seat will no doubt be full of tech like the Leon and offer good finance deals to steal Qashqai customers. The Tiguan might be a touch more premium but can’t see it selling as well as the Seat in that market. Just hope the boot space is noticeably bigger than the equivalent Leon/Golf.

Isn't the Qashqai between the Tiguan and Touareg in terms of size though? Seems a bigger car from seeing them in the car park.
But then I imagine the Nissan is better value..
Not sure about physical size, but the quoted boot size on the Ateca and Tiguan is larger than the current Qashqai. But then I imagine the Nissan is better value..

Quite surprised by that, I think the previous Tiguan wears it's size well, whereas the Qashwai does look a big car.
Boot was never huge in the Tiguan though, two duffle bags of kit was a squeeze.
Where does this belief come from that the old Tiguan had a small boot?Boot was never huge in the Tiguan though, two duffle bags of kit was a squeeze.
OK, it's not massive, but it's not that small.
This is from Autoexpress and just comes up on Google when you search Tiguan boot size:
"Despite its compact dimensions, the Volkswagen Tiguan is a very spacious car. There's 470 litres of boot space on offer - that's better than the Nissan Qashqai's and the Skoda Yeti's." 14 Dec 2015
Tiguan (both old and new) is about 100mm longer than Qashqai.
I know Qashqai is very popular but we looked at it as we have positive experience of Micra, Note and Juke in the family, and it just felt cheap and nasty compared to Tiguan. OK, price-wise, Qashqai entry level is lower than Tiguan, but it runs up to very similar levels at the top end.

Couldn't find another thread on the new Tiguan. I never really liked the soft looks of the outgoing Tiguan, but the new model looks fantastic IMO. The proportions are perfect and it looks a lot more chunky and purposeful than the old model. I think this could well be our new family wagon later this year. Will be looking forward to seeing the pricing and options.
Looks like they have inflated it to nearly the size of the Toerag!Do the options list include fake spray tan and false nails?
Coming to your local 'David Lloyd' soon.....

It might look like that but it's as near as dammit the same size as the old one. Here they are side by side - I think losing the little round vents on the dash is a backwards step, they look really neat in practice. And they've dropped the height of the nav screen. I guess it had to be done like that to get the bigger screen in.

There is going to be a longer, 7 seat, version but there's some doubt about whether that will be sold in Europe.

Precisely...While up to 100 pounds or 50 kg lighter than the outgoing Tiguan, the new model is 60mm (2.4 inches) longer, 30mm (1.2 inches) wider, and 33mm lower (1.3 inches) lower, riding on a 77mm (3.0 inches) extended wheelbase at 2,681mm (105.6 inches).

Well it's not a belief just an opinion, as I say we used one as a site car for a year or so and it didn't seem that big, but it's bigger than both its rivals as you've stated then we were probably expecting too much.OK, it's not massive, but it's not that small.

Overall it was a practical car though and served us well, I liked it and it's not really my type of car.
