Who buys these cars at list price? A quick check on the internet shows that VW is already offering 17% on the new Tiguan in Germany. I'm sure you can get 10% in the UK.
You'd probably have to go through a broker here to get a discount - VW dealers in the UK are weirdly arrogant when it comes to pricing.

I haven't looked myself, but on the Tiguan forum I use someone posted DtD were showing it straight away with £3K discount.
I'll take a look at DTD thanks. I agree about most, not all dealers attitude. I do wonder how they sell cars. I phoned three dealers yesterday, only one rang me back and he had no idea when the other engine variants would be released

Edited to add- Drive The Deal managed 9-10% discount depending on model which is not too shabby. Carwow dealers offer zero. What VW have done is bundle together various options with out more key extras. For example, want LED lights, you must take Nav, sunroof and radar cruise.

There's a useful overview and the dates in the OP here: http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/topic/34297-upd...

Not sure what you mean by bundling the options - they become standard as you move up the trim levels. I think you can add LED lights on their own to lower models.

Sunroof as standard on upper trim levels seems weird to me - few current Tiguan buyers spec'd it. I'd have preferred leather although from a brief look it seems they still don't offer memory seats which just seems insane on a car that's likely to be shared. Memory is a £100 option on Touareg and I assumed the MQB platform would bring them in on Tiguan.

They're an option on SE and SE Nav models. The only model they're not available on is the entry level S.

...although by the time you've got an SE with optional LED lights you'd be within a grand of the SEL price, which makes choosing the SEL a no-brainer. Except the 19" wheels on the SEL put me off.

We didn't buy an Astra a few years ago as we couldn't get electrically adjustable mirrors without going way up the spec. Got a basic Golf instead, which had them as standard.

Looking thought the standard spec of this new model standard 8“ screen across the range same size that's in the touareg! It's gonna look massive

Prefer the look of the Ateca, looks sharper, although apparently the boot is slightly larger on the Tiguan. Looks like neither of them get a 4x4 petrol engine. Please please put a 2.0tsi in one of them.

Rather than VW Tiguan or SEAT Ateca, you could choose the uniquely styled new Skoda Yeti:

I find VAG's budget brand designs more attractive than the premium ones.
I suppose their design studios are allowed to take risks while the premium brands have found their successful recipe and are afraid to change it.

Not available until 2018. Current Yeti has poor choice of engines - 1.2TSI or 2.0TDI 110 or 150.

Think the Tig looks a lot better in red in those pictures, but side by side I still prefer the SEAT, and the Yeti to that laugh

There's a whole bunch of SUVs coming from VAG companies - I've lost track a bit and the dates you see are of course generally just speculation. I did think the new Yeti was a 2017 car though - 2018 seems a long way away for a platform that's already been around for a few years.

Anyone put an order in. I see the more powerful engines have not as yet materialised. Some sort of a delay.

I read that a Cupra version of the SEAT is in the mix. That could be right up my street.

One small niggle is there isn't an option for driver memory seats despite it being available in Germany. Neither are the LED headlights dynamic. It's no drama but why not make it an option when it is in local markets and the car is made in the same factory. My wife likes the seat close and upright. I do the school run as our youngest is 23 months and it may sound like a non issue but the bloody seat position adjustment every day pisses me off.
