Hi,

I've just started looking at one of these, along with an S3 and came across this thread. By the looks of it I may have missed the 2yr c£7k deals but can anyone give me an insight into why they are available in the first place.

Also, any clues on if they'll come back in Q1... anyone know when their financial year end is?

Thanks

Rob

Mine was ordered first week of July and is in transit (and has been for 7-10days) according to the VW tracker
Is your an order from a dealer or lease ? As I mentioned, it would appear that orders direct from a dealer are being progressed far quicker than lease vehicles; for example my car was ordered the week after you and as mentioned originally wasn't meant to be built until w/c 05/09 and has now been put back to w/c 03/10. Delivery will then be 3-4 weeks after that so into November earliest and that's assuming no further delays.
Finally have my car almost 5 months to the day. Lease Via NFS. Worth the wait!

Was it NFS that contacted you to arrange delivery or do the dealership contact you?

I've had no contact with the dealer at all. All been dealt with via NFS. Even the transporter was 3rd party guy - had been delivering R's all week! Someone on the vwroc forum has a photo.

3 weeks! I've seen people getting them within a week. Unless their status was wrong or behind.
You're right, got the phone call for delivery yesterday and receiving it next week.

Hi all, a few quick questions for a lease noob.

My R has an ETA for delivery around the 26th December.

1.) How does it get to me, does it go to a nearby dealer or is it delivered? I went via NFS. A few recent posts seems to indicate it is delivered I think.

2.) My ETA is December 26th. However, I am out of the country until January 13th on holiday.

- Will they still deliver or do the need my signature? (someone else will be home most likely)
- Will they hold it somewher until i'm back and start the lease on day received? No point in having the car sat on the drive for two weeks.......rather have it when I retur and have the longer lease.

Thanks for any help

In my very recent experience:
1. They will deliver it, either someone will drive it to you (free) or it can transport it to you (costly).
2. They will be able to hold it until you're ready. I'd take that ETA with a pinch of salt anyway tbh

So my date has been pushed out too, from early Nov to late december. My build was confirmed late November....

And in my very recent experience (also with NFS)
1) Mine came on a transporter at no charge. you are given clear instruction to check over the car and sign it off including delivery miles - again via NFS.
2)NFS will call you to arrange delivery day - at this point you can put it off to whenever you want within reason.

1. It will be shipped from Emden to the port nearest the VW dealer. I'm 99% certain yours will go to Ingram's in Ayr which is where all the NFS VW cars have went lately. So your car will be shipped to Port of Tyne. From there it will be processed, go through customs, etc and then be transported to the dealers. They will then schedule it in for PDI, register it and then arrange delivery via NFS.

Just to give you an idea of timescales, which might be useless as some have gotten theirs faster.

Ordered: 13th July 2016
Build week: w/c 24th Oct 2016 (BW 43)
Estimated delivery date: w/c 21st Nov 2016 (BW 48)
Arrived @ UK Port: 28th Nov 2016 (BW 49)
Arrived @ Dealers: 6th Dec 2016
Delivered: Due 14th Dec (22 weeks after order placed)

2. They can hold the car for a month or two for you and deliver when you're ready to accept delivery (within reason). I assume you will have to be there to accept delivery as you will need to inspect the car and make sure it's not damaged before signing for it.

Doesn't surprise me to be honest. Absolutely no rhyme or reason as to how they decide who gets what, when. I was due to get it a the end of September/start of October but then the delays kicked in and it's just slipped and slipped and slipped. It'll be 22 weeks to the day when it gets delivered next week. And because it's a lease, not a single penny of compensation.

Another question, i've done some searching so this has been discussed a little already.

Maintenance. I just received an email saying that for another £15pm I can have my car maintained. Does anyone bother?

I will have a 2 year Golf R lease, 6k miles per year. Currently paying £252 without maintenance.

It lists a load of costs but says that their VW estimates say:

1st Service = £197
2nd Service = £269
Brake Fluid (after 2 year) = £64
Air con filter (after 2 year) = £79

So that's costs of £609 vs £345 in maintenance fees.

Also these fees cost tyres, brakes, etc (but likely have clauses against 'abuse').

These costs look right? Did you go for maintained?

I was informed on mine, that I couldn't have it maintained as it only allows one other 'extra' which was the RFL.

Are you sure the extra £15 a month wouldn't be on the initial as well?
If you are on a 6+23, that would be £435.
I'm also not too sure of the cost of the services, it should just need an oil service, and a main service (service 1). That's what 'mine' will be getting. Shouldn't be any more than £500.

On the fixed price servicing (for vehicles between 3 and 15 years old).
An oil service is £159, and a major service is £329. That's all I expect to be getting done.

I received this email today too. At the time when I signed the paperwork in July, the excess mileage charge was more if you chose the maintained option. No mention of it in that email.

You could always delay the first service by a couple of weeks, then your second service will be due after you hand the car back.

Yeah you're right. I checked my old paperwork and I had a maintained option too. It was 10ppm excess customer maintained, 13ppm excess fleet maintained.

Still undecided. I think I have to bear in mind i'm a low milage user, I can do your trick regarding the service.

I mean, my last lease was an BMW M5 and I didn't need new tyres throughout the lease and I did 16000 miles. I think i'll skip the maintained.....but I did reply and ask them if there were any changes to the policy if I went maintained.

Going by these prices at the same time.....I think it might be worth the maintenance for me. I'm in London so higher costs for everything and I guess I get the additional tyre cover and stuff...
