Incredibly frustrating.
Exactly the same for me - you're not alone. Frustrating to know it's in country, in stock and i'm still waiting for the reg (insurance) and a delivery date.

You think they'd be as fast as possible at this point given they have a depreciating asset on their hands!

Over the last couple of days I've had terrible condensation on the inside of the windscreen. Anyone else experiencing this? 2016 R Estate

Anyone of your statuses progressed further than these?

I'm sick myself of sounding like a broken record, but they're useless. It's not even so much the problem itself, but the attitude when speaking to them and the tone of the e-mail that they send. Oh well.

Have just spoken to NFS.

All paper work is having to be re-done and resubmitted due to a problem with the VED on the manual cars. ( Already knew this ).

I'm not entire sure how this is possible seeing the DSG is the same band, but oh well.

I should be expecting to book in a delivery date now on Friday. Let's see how it goes.

6k miles in. 25mpg average. Nice one "combined 40mpg" VW lol. I did manage 32 mpg for about a mile coasting down a hill in eco somewhere.

Anyhoo didn't buy it for that.

Can't fathom the DSG complaints. Drive in manual and it's a damn sight faster than a stick. The only problem I've encountered is it sometimes lurches when changing down to second. Anyone else experienced this?

I'm averaging 31 in my manual (and have been since about 1000 miles, now at 18000, but only had it near the 40mpg mark driving like Miss Daisy in traffic on A-B roads at 45mph

I'm under no illusion its a great deal compared to a year ago but I'm happy to pay it considering the limited offers about. They offered me a Polo GTI DSG for £100 less a month but without options they're pretty basic.

I'm paying £277 9+23 on 10k miles, fee was about £220. DSG and I'm told the current Rs have alot of the extras now as standard - if not it doesn't really bother me. I'd previously bought a Scirocco R and despite it being absolutely immaculate I still lost a fortune over 2 years.

It was never listed on the website I just rang them up and asked. They also offered me a S3 5dr S-Tronic in Nano Grey for £315, I was very tempted but beyond my budget really.

That doesn't sound right, my Mk5 GTi had the older DSG and it never refused to change gear in manual mode. It always kicked down quickly too, sometimes even too eager to kickdown.

Have you had it checked out, there may be a fault with the gearbox.

Do you press the accelerator past the "button"? If you do, it will kick-down to the lowest gear possible.

You can't expect the gearbox to go from D to S instantaneously. It will never go 5 - 2 like you would in a manual, it will go 5,3,2 and then go. To get it to go from 5 - 2 you need to press the kick down which is basically just stamping on the accelerator past it's natural point and then it'll shift. You also have to bear in mind the second or so turbo lag which the Golf does have.

DSG in Drive is fantastic.
DSG in Sport is phenomenal.
DSG in Sport Manual is the dogs. I use it a lot and so long as you're in the right gear with the turbos ready you will get speed extremely quickly.

If it takes an age to shift it probably is an issue with the gearbox. Mine is extremely responsive on the paddle shift and gear lever shift. Although it did take a while to get use to the shifts being opposite on the eve. Push Up to shift up, pull down for down shift.

There's your answer.

It's not an auto, and it's not a manual, it's something new. I don't feel I'm driving round its limitations like you suggest, rather I use the things it's good at - imitating an auto round town, then if I need to be more in control for a junction or a hoon, I switch to paddles (either temporarily by flicking a paddle, or if it's for longer, knocking the lever over), and then I plan ahead so I know which gear I'm going to need. I've only had it 2 weeks admittedly, but I haven't used kickdown once.

Using that method, I'm always in the right gear, there's no need for a change from 5th to 2nd. No, you can't short-shift, and once you've accepted that, I think you'll be happier.

And don't use the stick to change manually, that's just weird. Keep your hands on the wheel & use the paddles!

Did you read that piece with tips on DSG usage?

I agree, there is a knack. The key is to driving in a style that means the DSG has pre-selected the next gear that you want (i..e UP or DOWN).

Sometimes this is counter-intuitive. For example, you might be approaching a corner and want to select a lower gear, so you back off and press the down paddle. However, as you backed off, the DSG thinks you do not want to accelerate so pre-selects the next gear UP. This results in very slow down change. So in this case, giving it a bit of gas before downshifting will inform the DSG that you intend to accelerate and it will pre-select the next gear DOWN.

Regardless of all that Alex, from what Tonker is saying it doesn't do what he's asking when in manual mode using the paddles. This is not right.

I agree it can get confused occasionally in auto when you slow and then need to pull away as it's already got the higher gear selected not the lower. In manual mode it should up or downshift pretty much instantly.
