Just cleaned mine for the first time (been busy!) this morning and noticed the wipers fowl the bonnet when you lift them up when cleaning - is that actually by design?

Also, on car-net. I spec'd the option and app connect works fine but car-net says it's not available from the VIN. I don't really care, as I wanted it for carplay, but may of note to some.

Thinking about the wipers, I bet you have to put them in the 'up' position don't you? Doh.

If it's like the Audis, then yes - a service position. Will be in the manual or some guides on Youtube.

Central UK are doing an R estate for £192/month including vat on a personal scheme with £2000 initial rental. On a 10k/ 2 year deal. This seems extremely good to me? What do you guys think? Assume that will be a basic car with no upgrades. I'm sorely tempted

Forgot the vat on the initial payment so that brings it up to £7000 for two years. Think you guys were getting better deals

I'm looking at getting a Golf R Estate, but it will be my commuter/family car.

Currently in a Tiguan BMT 150 DSG and average 40-42mpg.

If I can get 35-38mpg in the Golf R Estate then I'd be happy, the company pays for the fuel but can't be to silly.

I do 100miles a day most weeks, but looking to reduce the amount a bit, but is it a good idea having this sort of vehicle as a daily commuter?

On a lease?

100 miles a day = 24k a year (ish)?

A lease would be punishing for that mileage.

Finger in on trigger for MY17 Golf R Estate in white or red for £1500 + 23 x £215 10k per annum for a term total of £6,445 (inc VAT). That's about as good as it's likely to get, right?

Yeah I'd personally say that's about the best around at the moment. Majority of the crazy deals were 6000-6500.

That won't happen I'm afraid. The best I've seen is 33.1. Anything other than motorway driving at a continuous speed and you'll be lucky to get above 30MPG. My average is 26 and I don't push the car too hard at all.

I'm almost 1,000 miles in and my average is around 33mpg, but most of my driving is on the M25 doing 60-70mph so not really representative.

I 2nd all of the above. This is not an economical car if comparing to modern diesels or small capacity petrol engines. However, if you look at in context against the performance on offer, then the economy isn't too bad.

Mine seems to sit at around 27-28mpg most of the time but can do more if you drive like a saint. However, it does mean that you are missing out on what makes this car good though.

Hi, this was through Nick Kealy @ Bedford Volkswagen (nick.kealy@vindisgroup.com). If you are interested I would act immediately, I've just confirmed my order and now go into the queue for allocation. Nick suspects the deal will be pulled soon.

This is my expected mileage in the Golf and at £0.072p for excess miles I think it far better than taking the depreciation on a new purchase

This adds £84 per month to my lease (assuming VWFS dont do me a deal at 12 months) so still well under £300 for a brand new £34k car and 48k miles over 2 years!

Bargain for me not punishing at all

I had a white estate secured this morning at £1500 + 23 x £215. I then changed my mind and decided lapis was worth the extra £30 per month so now have that secured apparently. Now I'm not sure again!! Ha

Finance approved and just awaiting docs. Went through Vindis.

I have had the exact same turmoil today. £30/month is a lot just for a colour but flat white just doesn't suit the Golf R as well as other colours IMHO. Weirdly, white looks brilliant on Cupra ST with black pack. In the end, I figured 2 years is a long time and I'd rather walk up to Lapiz blue and feel great about it than walk up to white and try and convince myself that I saved £30/month. Besides, I had already decided to add high-beam and app connect taking me to £225 so the jump to £245 was less brutal.

I hear ya, fair play. Shame we couldn't add options eh?

Until yesterday I was about to sign up to a £62k A7 on a PCP, so yeah, I'll treat myself to metallic! redface)
