None, I'm 39 not 19.

The car is plenty quick enough, although I understand it can be given a slug more torque for a few hundred quid if that's your thing. Make sure it is completely reversible and invisible though, I have been told they check...

Just back from my local VW dealer. He couldn't get near the best online price I had for a 3dr with no options added. He did say he expected incentives for the Golf R for Q3 to be available in the next week or two and it may be worth holding of.

From VehicleSavers.com I can get a 3dr on 6+23 which is £7544.75 including VAT and the £360 admin fee. That breaks down to an initial deposit of £1,486.50 and monthly's of £247.75. I'm wondering if this is an older spec stock car?
You're wasting your time going to the retail side of a VW dealer to obtain a PCH deal. As already mentioned by someone else VW fleet depts only work Mon-Fri. Also why go through a broker and pay an additional admin fee? I have ordered my Golf R through Nicolle Gibson at VW Lancaster at Milton Keynes, they were the cheapest of 4 other VW fleet depts and 3 brokers. If delivery is over 100 miles they will trailer the vehicle to you.

At the time VW Fleet dept dealers were quoting between £6100 and £6400 for a standard Golf R Estate at 10k pa over two years. You should be able to find Lancaster VW Milton Keynes contact details online. Ask for Nicolle Gibson or David East.
Was it the estate you went for? I knew the estates were being offered at great rates but didn't think the hatchback was. I'll give them a call on Monday, see what they say. Thanks.
Vehicle Savers are now offering 29 x £220.68 for a 3 door hatch manual. Not as good prices wise compared to the RRP of an estate I know, but for just the two of us we don't need an estate car so may as well get the hatch, as I like the looks better. I'd be going for the estate just because it's a 'better deal'.

Did you have any luck today?

I hear ya, fair play. Shame we couldn't add options eh?

Until yesterday I was about to sign up to a £62k A7 on a PCP, so yeah, I'll treat myself to metallic! redface)
Considered the blue, but the cheapskate in me, got the better of me. Very easy process and quick finance, had more trouble ordering a coffee.

Tried a couple of different VW dealers (both recommendations, one from on here) but neither could get close to the Vehicle Savers price. So I went with them around lunch time today. My details were passed to the supplier of the vehicle. I've yet to hear from them which I'm guessing will be tomorrow now.

Just went for the 3dr manual Golf Hatchback on 3+23 @ 10,000 for £276 per month.

I've heard all remaps leave a flag in the ECU that's hard/impossible to get rid of and basically makes it known to VW that the car has been flashed. Your best bet is probably a tuning box like this one, which can be physically removed. However, it unknown to what degree it is traceable after removal. If you had total engine failure and someone went looking they might find evidence of it.

Sounds like these Vindis cars are fixed spec. Does it include high beam assist and car play? Understand basic nav and winter pack included. Anything else?

I know I will get flamed for saying this, but how bad a risk is the stealing factor. I work away 50% of the time, and the car will sit on the drive. My M135i did the same over two years and that was never nicked!! The R seems to get a lot of press about being stolen.

Have you been on the VWROC forums and read any of the threads? Just last week there was a thread from someone mentioning people had attempted to break in to get the keys.

I would say maybe at least once a month there is either one stolen or at least an attempt made on a house to steal one. That's on a super small percentage of owners who are on the forum and post about it. I'm sure it's happening weekly but it doesn't get reported online.

This is the only thing putting me off jumping on this deal - just can't square taking this risk.

Loads of wing mirrors were stolen around near me. One guy I know had them taken 3 times! Another lad had them stolen, so just changed them to the black caps instead. Suits the white better imo

I've had a DTUK box on mine for well over a year with no issues.

You still pee standing up tho right?

I jest, but still, if you can gain an extra 70-80 bhp for a few hundred pound, achieving 0-60 in 3.7 seconds...

I was the same but I've had mine for nearly 4 months and I've only felt awkward about it once when some dodgy looking guy was walking around my car late at night a few weeks after I got it. Since then it's been fine and I'm not too bothered.

It's insured. They can't stop me having a nice car!

I've been doing further reading tonight and so far I would conclude the JB1 box is superior to the DTUK. Specifically because it has a 4th sensor to control fueling wheras the DTUK box relies on closed loop fuel triming to keep AFR's in check. In short, if you are going to do this and are looking for the safest (but still risky) option then JB1 box looks like a good way to go. You can remove it in 20 minutes and it shouldn't show up any weird fuel trims in the ECU or TD1 flags. It's the 0-100mph times that are blowing my mind, some of the DSG hatches are hitting 8.9s with just a £350 box. That is mental.

One thing I've also been curious about is whether the Estate can out accelerate the DSG hatch from say 70mph+. It's longer body should be more efficient but it has 80kgs more to lug....which is more relevant at these speeds?

Nobody found a VW dealer contact that can do the Golf R without the £360 admin charge?

Exactly the same boat as me...I'm trusting you also agree that this thread should be called The Golf R Estate lease thread!!

I'll be opting for the 5Dr DSG Tornado Red with no extras paying 9 months up front to bring the monthly payment down. Turns out to be around 8.2k over the two year term.

All of them. Please don't be lazy, read from the beginning of his thread and you'll see contacts given for Vindis Bedford, Lancaster MK to name a few. Just pick up the phone and make some calls, any VW with a fleet department will be able to help you.

Lots of new names that have come over from the Best Lease Deals thread after receiving some pretty direct feedback from more established members.

Newbee's - you're more than welcome but before you post, please read through the thread. These questions have all been answered before.

None of the VW dealers I spoke to could get close to the broker prices for the Golf R Hatchback. I don't mind paying the fee if it gets me a far cheaper deal.

Did you just go to the retail side of the dealer? Think all of the cheap deals were achieved by talking with the business lease team at the dealership in question. Retail won't offer the discount business leases do.

Hatch deals are not as good as the estate either at the moment.
