so come on then lads, what reversible chip/map are we all fitting??
None, I'm 39 not 19.
You still pee standing up tho right?

I jest, but still, if you can gain an extra 70-80 bhp for a few hundred pound, achieving 0-60 in 3.7 seconds...
...I'll get to work 10 seconds earlier every day.

If I wanted a car that went 3.7s to 60 I would just buy one, as I have done before. Not sure if that really qualifies as being an "anorak" , as you put it on the lease thread. I grew out of reading Max Power when I was about 20, hence chips, dump valves, neon lights and Oz alloys are not things I associate with my new car.

Hopefully my post was helpful in informing you that anything you do may be checked whenever you take the car in for a service or at the end of lease collection. Therefore make sure it is not traceable.

Does anyone else find the collision detection a bit too sensitive? I know you can turn it off in the settings but it seems a nice to have feature..

Its made me adjust my driving to take it into account, which is probably a good thing. It can't tell the difference between a person and a plastic bag though.

I've been doing further reading tonight and so far I would conclude the JB1 box is superior to the DTUK. Specifically because it has a 4th sensor to control fueling wheras the DTUK box relies on closed loop fuel triming to keep AFR's in check. In short, if you are going to do this and are looking for the safest (but still risky) option then JB1 box looks like a good way to go. You can remove it in 20 minutes and it shouldn't show up any weird fuel trims in the ECU or TD1 flags. It's the 0-100mph times that are blowing my mind, some of the DSG hatches are hitting 8.9s with just a £350 box. That is mental.

One thing I've also been curious about is whether the Estate can out accelerate the DSG hatch from say 70mph+. It's longer body should be more efficient but it has 80kgs more to lug....which is more relevant at these speeds?

I wouldn't touch those DTUK boxes with a barge pole. The factory calibration runs at stoich or neaar to for a considerable amount of the power band under full high load and as you correctly state, the DTUK box maintains this by operating within the closed loop remit. A proper remap would adjust fuelling to make-safe for the additional cylinder temperatures/pressures.

Yes, the little thing on the dashboard where the miles comes on daily on the M25, and the big red 'you're going to crash' symbol appeared on Day 2 of ownership - it is a little over sensitive IMO.

But what would it cost??

Of course yes, thanks. I wouldn't take any chances on that front.

Thanks for input. JB1 is superior I believe and does adjust the fuelling.

Looks like Vehicle savers no longer have any Lapiz Blue 3doors frown

EDIT: They do, but it's an extra £24 a month!? Was it never included in the 3+23 £268 price?

No, Lapiz Blue is a special metallic colour. Only the standard metallic colours were included.
I'm going limestone grey I think. My ST that's going back is spirit blue and I wanted lapiz blue, but it's not worth the outlay on a lease.

Alternatively maybe the dark/night blue.

Just emailed Nick @ Vindis and he says all stock has now gone.

Gonna try some lease companies now instead.

Try, Barry McRuvie @ Aberdeen Volkswagen (Barry.McRuvie@specialistcars.volkswagen.co.uk). He had a white Golf R Estate build slot yesterday morning but I had already committed elsewhere. Tell him Kenny referred you as a thank you for the test drive biggrin

I'm not surprised he had ~150 enquirers when he emailed Monday morning, Horizon left a message saying they had 7 left Monday evening (white or black I think he said) think they were a couple hundred more expensive though.

I got informed my black estate wasn't going to built until the end of September today and with a baby due I couldn't wait. The option was if I went for lapiz blue then I could get it in September... Bit of a change from the original estimate of being 5-6 weeks!

The dealer matched the price and did the lapiz blue for the same as the black

Just managed to get one of the last cars from Stable, the white one's had gone so I ended up with a Lapiz Blue one which is my preferred choice as I do like blue but cost a few quid more p/month.

Build slot is week 32, so I should have it by early / mid September. My Wife is going to have my Alfa Romeo 159 2.0 JTDm and we will sell her rare Mondeo 3.0 V6 Titanium X.

Looking forward to driving a DSG, not used one before.. any tips?

What price did you manage to get it at - I think I got the email for £259 (6+23) for White.
