Just rolled over the 4,000 mile mark and have my first major issue.
Apart from juddering wipers (they all do that, sir).
I went to fill up fuel, which is a not infrequent task, and the fuel flap wouldn't open.
I had to use a piece of car to try and jimmy it open.
Very disappointed in what seems like a vital part of the car.
The first trip to VW tomorrow for some warranty work. Woo
The wipers do actually judder real bad. By some Bosch Aero ones and it'll be fine.

Am I the only one who finds the start bit of start/stop a bit jerky ?

I'm 4k miles in and can't seem to work out how to do it differently to my current process.

Other start/stop cars I have driven have all been manual so by the time you've dropped the clutch to engage gear you get a smooth getaway.

However, with the R, just a gentle press of the accelerator to re-start the car and it always jerks a little as it moves off.

Am I doing something wrong ?!
I've just hit 4001 miles today, and find the stop start extremely infuriating, I drive in Eco mode everywhere unless on a special drive, so it's more of an issue.

When braking you have to brake very lightly for it not to engage, yet sometimes it turns the engine off anyway. I find it always turns the engine off before I've stopped, which I find a bit dangerous.
I drive in eco mode too. Have learnt the tap on the brakes versus hard braking for start/stop and it seems to work most of the time, it's just the jerk when it restarts isn't great, but it's my first auto with start/stop so maybe they're all like it.

Yup. You get used to it's mannerisms, so to speak. I've learned to deal with the minor niggles.

The only one that does my head in is when it cuts the engine, it restarts it again if the car in front starts to creep forward (like 2 inches!!). Even if you're still waiting in the lights etc.

Coming up on 4700 miles in mine (overall 31mpg average) and ive had it 16 weeks. So nearly half way through my yearly mileage allowance and not even a third of the way through the year..

Really hope they offer me a discounted excess mileage adjustment at some stage lol.

You are right, it is rubbish, a complete waste of time. You have to remember to the press the deactivate button every time you get in the car. I have done 1700 miles in 3 weeks, will be interesting to see if I miss the performance when I switch to my other car for a couple of weeks. Thanks for the tip ref wipers, will look to swap them over, the standard ones are not great.

Received this from National on the 18th. I had to call yesterday for an update. Still unable to confirm if the car has been built and said they will update this week. Not hopefull it will be here by the end of the month as surely they'd know this by now.

"The supplier has currently advised that your vehicle is due to be built week 44, which is the week commencing 31st of October.

We would expect the vehicle to be at the dealer and be available for delivery around week 48, which is week commencing the 28th of November. Please note this may be subject to change.

We will continue to update you approximately every 7-10 working days."

Not really impressed when they say they have hundreds cars to update customers on and it's difficult to chase their supplier That's their job, they lease cars. Can't say I'd use them again. It's not the problem itself, but how they deal with it.

Yeah and if they gave out the order numbers then they wouldn't have to update everyone as everyone could do it themselves!

I spoke to a few different people there, and it's their "supplier" - whoever that might be?? - who won't give out the order numbers. Supposedly something to do with an issue in the past... Does seem very odd though - they are seemingly paying staff to update us on orders that could be fully automated.

Which makes one wonder if they'd accept a reasonable trade plus offer at the end of the lease?

I can see 36 on the BCA website this evening, and in comparison not a single Mk6 R and only 4 Mk5 R32 Golfs! Surely the residuals are going to take a kicking, especially this time of year as demand on the used market softens around Christmas time scratchchin

Now I'm looking at January. I'm beginning to wonder if these cars exist.

The supplier has currently advised that your vehicle is due to be built week 49, which is the week commencing the 5th of December.

We would expect the vehicle to be at the dealer and be available for delivery around week 01, which is week commencing the 2nd of January. Please note this may be subject to change.

We will continue to update you approximately every 7-10 working days.

The facelift is out today at midday.

Already leaked images though and it's a very mild facelift.

Yeah watched the live release, was correct over virtual dash and 7spd gearbox (s3 can do 52mpg with that gearbox)
Only thing I didn't know of was the discovery pro going to 9.2inch my current 8inch dominates the dash so the new one will be massive compared

Is that not the R line rather than the R its self?

Yes, that's just the R-Line.

But it shows that the facelift is very minor. New bumpers and LED lights, plus lots of interior tech.

I don't for one second believe all the guff floating around about the facelifted Golf R having 400hp. It may have 340-350 at a push, but no way are they going to go to 400.

I would bet on 310ps, the same as the current S3.

Perhaps DCC as std (as it is with the Leon Cupra)?
