The Golf R lease thread

Anyone have any predictions as to when early 5dr DSG R's will reach around 15k? Prices seem to be all over the place, given you can get an approved used decent spec but high miler for 19k, and apparently dealers are selling them new for 27k? Any ideas?
I reckon you should be able to pick up a 3-year old in the trade for £15k pretty soon. They seem to retail for as little as £18k for a 14-plate at the moment. There are loads of ex-lease cars coming back which is slightly flooding the market, and the imminent launch of the facelift R will also knock values back slightly. Anyone yet to recieve their R who has ordered through Vehicle Savers and National Fleet? Called up NF today who said that I am looking at delivery in late Feb.
Not bad you say, I ordered the car in July 16..
But they've also said that production on the MK7 R has shutdown, which VW confirmed. So how they've still given me a build allocation for week 4 Jan, I have no idea.
I feel like NF have been beating around the bush the whole time, taken on more orders than they can handle.
Any similar experiences?

Same as you - still being told no idea.
I know this isn't the place, but I we do have experts on these leases threads so maybe someone can advise please? I can cancel with National, but I've lost the referral fee with VS. Anyway to get this back? Only thing I've thought of is a charge back with the bank/credit card that no product has been supplied within an reasonable time/services not provided.

I'm led to believe that you only can't order a Mk7 R now, they're still producing the backlog of orders. Not bad you say, I ordered the car in July 16..

That's pretty bad - I ordered mine on the 17th August via 21st Century which then passed to NFS, and I've had an e-mail saying it's now in the UK ( on the 28th December ). Still no call to arrange a delivery date though. Not bad you say, I ordered the car in July 16..

slightly off topic but I stumbled across this video today and the exhaust sound is ok, but the countryside is lovely.

I'm living in the wrong part of the world, SE england, to enjoy a nice car with no other traffic on the road unless i get up at 4am

Anybody recommend any good current deals, as my wife has decided she wants a Golf R, 5 door DSG (with leather + metallic paint)?
Pretty sure the order book is closed for the current model - and I'm not sure if they're taking orders for the new version yet ( probably best to ask a dealer ).There were a few places offering some of the current models that we have assumed are cancelled lease orders, but you won't get any choices on options and they aren't exactly cheap.

I got an e-mail saying mine landed in the UK on the 28th of December - was yours the same ?VW also said it's likely to be the 16th before deliveries actually start going out..
How did you manage to get the order number ?
Long story short, had to get VW to request it from NFS. Pointless exercise, web tracker isnt updated regularly.
Some more news.. Turns out that the dealership is busy repricing the vehicles because of a price increase by VW. They cant register the vehicles until the quoted price is authorised by HQ. No indication of how long this could take, dealerships nationwide will be affected.

Agree completely, thought it was just me ! Best I have got out of it very briefly was 37mpg. I know this is not a car for economy but the gearbox certainly takes a big edge off the performance and does not compensate with any economy gains. Tonker.....I would be interesting to know the type of roads and the traffic densities you encounter ? anonymous said:

I get an average of just under 33mpg over 4000 miles. I drive on mainly the same A road for 75 miles a day, average speed is 35 to 55 with some stop start town traffic. Also do the odd 150 mile motorway journey. First auto box in nearly 30 years of driving and not likely I will get another one anytime soon. Edited by Unclegerry on Tuesday 10th January 14:00

I picked up my R DSG last week, and think it's great. I'd recommend having a read of this thread to get the best of it: http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/11881-understand... It talks about the skills needed to teach the gearbox what you want to do next, so that it responds quickly. On the start-stop, if you know you'll need a quick get away, you can tap the gas pedal quickly to restart the engine in advance, but it won't pull away from the autohold until you give it a proper prod. Or you can code the car using OBDEleven & an android device to disable start-stop permanently - cost about £50, but might save you having to chop the car in!
