my vehicle's been with the dealer in the compound since last week...

VW also said it's likely to be the 16th before deliveries actually start going out..
I got an e-mail saying mine landed in the UK on the 28th of December - was yours the same ?

How did you manage to get the order number ?
We've the same emails, possibly?

10/01/17

"The supplier has advised that your vehicle is awaiting in stock confirmation."

28/12/16

"The supplier has advised that your vehicle is being transported from factory."
Looks like it - still awaiting in stock confirmation
I'll let you know if mine changes.
Anyone any updates?

Don't see how in stock confirmation takes over two weeks laugh, rather than cry

My Golf R Estate on lease has started to make an odd noise on the occasional startup, anyone else had this? Like something is rubbing for a second?

Regardless of all that Alex, from what Tonker is saying it doesn't do what he's asking when in manual mode using the paddles. This is not right.

I agree it can get confused occasionally in auto when you slow and then need to pull away as it's already got the higher gear selected not the lower. In manual mode it should up or downshift pretty much instantly.
Even when it guesses the next change wrong on the paddles, it still shifts pretty quickly. You notice a very slight pause before the selected gear engages, rather than the instant response you normally get.

It won't upshift if the resulting revs would be close to stalling point and it won't downshift if that would result in redlining the revs. It will also auto downshift if the engine comes close to stalling and auto upshift if you bounce off the redline.

Personally, I hardly ever use the manual sequential shift. D and S modes cover pretty much everything. The manual shift is handy for getting into the right power band for an overtake, though.

Yes I have noticed this on my estate too. It only started with the onset of the colder weather and as you say only lasts for a second or two then stops. I have no idea what it is though.

My Leon Cupra does the same - must be a trait of the engine.

Ours makes a sort of *WHIZZ* noise, but only for a moment.

I have a service question that I hope someone can help with

My car was delivered 30 April 2015 under a 2 year lease. The first oil change service was carried out in June 2016 at 11500 miles. Today I have an "inspection due in 30 days" message appear on the dash which surprised me as I've only done 6000 miles since the last service. I knew there was the chance I may have to pay for a second service on a 2 year lease but this seems way earlier than expected.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks

It sounds like when they did the Oil Change service they didn't reset the Inspection interval. Normally if its on Longlife whenever it goes in for a service both intervals should be reset I think.

I know BMWs do that as mines just had brake fluid and that shows as a proper required on the iDrive, but I haven't seen a VW flag brake fluid before

'Mine' is going in for diagnostics tomorrow, no courtesy car either.
Fuel flap won't open, dealer fix a couple of months ago was to 'jab it harder' that didn't work, only for the day I saw them.

If you're desperate for a courtesy car and the dealer won't play ball it's worth ringing VW UK. Under the warranty they should be able to sort you with a 'Mobex' car from a rental company

Apparently it's a known issue to VW, but the dealer I'm taking it to requires the car for a couple of days.

The earliest courtesy car they had available was for a booking at the end of Feb.

I just use my card to open the fuel filler flap, or some paper I might have in the back seat.

I've asked to borrow my Dad's S4, a bit of a difference, I just hope it gets sorted quickly. It's going in tomorrow, I doubt they'd be able to sort a courtesy car that quickly.

I've spoken to VW UK, but the best they can do is refer me to the retailer that the car is booked in to. A bit disappointing, as I will still be paying for a car I'm not driving.

Had this issue on my estate.... all you need to do is a take a sharp knife and take a slither of plastic off the catch on the door....

You cant even see its been done... It certainly wont be noticed by any inspection.

Its a 10 second fix...

Here's some pics off the internet.

Has anyone here extended their R lease with VWFS yet? I've had mine coming up to two years and quite fancy it for another year so asked them for a quote. They want £50 a month more.

I can understand this to some extent, considering how many are coming onto the market (presumably) and the effect this may have on sale prices. However, the quote was based on reduced mileage by 50% for the third year (5000 - I still have loads spare on the original contract).

I'm sure I've read on here of people getting reductions or staying at the same price for lease extensions, but it seems not to be the case, at least for me. I don't even have a mega-cheap monthly in the first place (still good though).

I have asked them if there's any movement on their offer but not heard back (and don't really expect to frown)

It's a company car and asking for more budget will just be a pain in the arse but another year driving the R would be lovely.

Does anyone have any experience with negotiating with VWFS on this kind of thing? I suspect their first offer is their final offer as they can sell it just as easily as giving me an extension, but thought I'd ask on the R lease megathread!

I had a quote to extend mine another 12 months based on same 10000 miles p.a. and the monthly amount would be increased from £206 to £247 had I gone ahead (I didn't in the end)

Thanks, interesting. Mine is nearly £80/month more than you to start with (DSG/10000 miles) and even when reducing the mileage by 50% the increase for an extra year is more than yours also. Bloody annoying but not much I can do apart from start looking for another car I guess. Lease a GTI or find a 7 year old Jag XFR moneypit then smile

Just had these through from Stable.

A bit pricey.

Looks good though. Probably means it's available to order from VW now.

Yes the new models on the VW configurator now so should be available to order. Is it just me or are Stable pretty dear with most of their "offers"?
