Stable are quite competitive on Audi quotes, they offer 1 months deposit if requested and their arrangement fee is lower than a lot that I have seen. It looks like the days of cheap leased VW's are over, which is a shame, I've liked mine

I'm sure there will be more deals, the stable 'deals' shown above are just new release deals. They have a nice email though. smile

On some Audis yes they are competitive. They were nowhere near on the S5 (but I didn't try knocking them down)

Leases for the new Golf R Mk7.5 very expensive so far. Around 30-50% more than the Mk7. Looks like they are trying to skim off the early eager buyers who will purchase it at any cost.

I had a quote to extend mine another 12 months based on same 10000 miles p.a. and the monthly amount would be increased from £206 to £247 had I gone ahead (I didn't in the end)
Thanks, interesting. Mine is nearly £80/month more than you to start with (DSG/10000 miles) and even when reducing the mileage by 50% the increase for an extra year is more than yours also. Bloody annoying but not much I can do apart from start looking for another car I guess. Lease a GTI or find a 7 year old Jag XFR moneypit then smile
It depends on the initial payment. So a 3 month upfront will cost less for an extra year than a 9 month upfront payment deal.

I'm surprised by some of the quotes being mentioned here. I'm planning to extend mine for a third year. My initial rental was £225pcm, I then reduced the mileage to 6,500 miles pa half way through which reduced the monthly to £163pcm. To extend for another 12 months they've offered me £193pcm, which I'm pretty happy with.

Just guessing, but would extending a lease with VW be affected by any options? As the cost of any paint/options would have been fully paid for during the initial rental term.

Only option on my R Estate was Lapiz paint, but that alone boosted the price by £40 a month.

When is your lease up Derwin's? Mine is June, will give them a call next week. I've only used 12k of my 20k miles so can tweak the mileage to get a deal. Nothing around cheap enough that takes my fancy to replace the R at the moment.

The new Golf R prices are expensive. My 5dr DSG was £266+vat on a 3+23 20kpa over 2 yrs
Used values have fallen signifcantly in the trade guides on the outgoing R due to the volumes in the market. I expect residual values (especially on 2 year quotes) on the new one will be alot lower as a result so this is why rentals have increased.

It's due to go back mid-May. I've only done 14.5K of 20k so far, so the extra year was just going to be 5k, which is why I was surprised at the cost frown

You're right, not much interesting around on lease at the moment, so I might have to man up and become a car owner for the first time in about 15 years. Gulp. Looking at leggy Jag XFRs but that's pie in the sky (and potentially financial suicide) so may end up with another GTI or perhaps S3 circa '11/'12. VWFS didn't come back to me when I asked them about the initial quote so I don't think they'll move on their offer.

(Btw, missing PC lately so hoping to get back on soon!)

To answer a few questions above: The deal was 3 months up front and only options were the black paint (will never get VW black again!) and a parking camera (because I'm old and ruined by the first car I had with one).

I've been looking around at £20k motors, needs to be at least a 2+2 so the one that grabbed my attention is the 2009 onwards Jag XK's, 5.0 V8 Portfolio it's got everything you'd ever need (apart from decent mpg).

I'm kind of stuck really because my work contract finishes in April and I'm not sure what I will be doing next. Not a solid basis for shelling out £20k on a thirsty motor. If my monthly's only go up a bit I'm happy to keep the R for another 12 months tbh.

I have but not at 70mph! I got it on quite a long journey on country roads where I just faced the fact I would be stuck behind everything 'till I got there so just lazed along in eco mode.

Managed 35.2mpg on a similar length journey from Bucks to Northants. No motorway, bits of dual carriageway, and that was about it. That's the DSG estate with two people in it. What driving mode are you in?

Our long term average in our DSG Estate is 29mpg. That includes mostly short journeys.

my vehicle's been with the dealer in the compound since last week...

VW also said it's likely to be the 16th before deliveries actually start going out..
I got an e-mail saying mine landed in the UK on the 28th of December - was yours the same ?

How did you manage to get the order number ?
We've the same emails, possibly?

10/01/17

"The supplier has advised that your vehicle is awaiting in stock confirmation."

28/12/16

"The supplier has advised that your vehicle is being transported from factory."
Looks like it - still awaiting in stock confirmation
I'll let you know if mine changes.
Anyone any updates?

Don't see how in stock confirmation takes over two weeks laugh, rather than cry
Sounds like it's just mine left now. Or it may be of use to others still waiting. I received new paperwork today to sign and fill in

See below:

"We have recently been advised by Volkswagen UK of some changes to the CO2 emissions of the Volkswagen Golf R that you currently have on order with us.

Please see below a table detailing the changes to the emissions of the vehicle.

As your vehicle is being leased under a personal contract hire agreement, the change in Benefit in Kind will not have any impact on you.

Whilst your vehicle has moved into a different VED band, the funder has agreed to cover this additional cost. This will not increase your monthly rentals.

Please note that this is based upon current charges as levied by the Government and the Exchequer, which may be subject to change in the future."

I'm waiting to have this confirmed by NFS, but the way I read it, they're stating that if the tax classification changes again, then I'll be liable for an increase in monthly rentals as per T&C's?

Looking at paperwork this is a possibility with leases, or am I missing something that will catch me out later?

Thanks in advance.

I'd say something is going wrong. I drive my car 99.5% of the time in Eco mode, when I do long trips I get mostly over 35mpg, have managed 40.2 I think was the highest on a 100 mile trip to Donington.

What fuel are you using? Are your pressures all okay? (I don't mean to sound so condescending!)

Are you using the Adaptive Cruise? I can't get good fuel economy when that is being used. It just isn't intelligent enough to see the road ahead (not knocking it, it's just not a human being!). It can't tell if someone is turning before it slams on the brakes.

Mine does 37-38mpg on a cruise. Probably cruising more around the 80mph mark too so it does seem a bit low.

3DR DSG for reference.

I've only done one "economy" run in mine (5dr Manual), took the family to Silverstone Classic last year. Telford to Silverstone with cruise set to 70 most of the way and I got 37mpg with 2 adults and two children.

I didn't get a Golf R for the mpg, and I can easily get it down to just over 20mpg with some more enthusiastic driving...now that's more like it smile
