I've just ordered a facelift Estate R with Dynaudio, keyless entry and climate windscreen. 9+23. £340pm. £10,880 for full term. £5440 per year. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I never keep a car for more than 2 years and I'm sick of loosing money on a PCP.

I'd be paying £500 for first year tax which is included in the lease.

I'd say 4.5k interest on 30k loan is a bit pessimistic, current loan rates would suggest 3k is more like it over 3 years
just checked and halifax are offering car loans of upto £60,000 for just 3.3%, meaning that a 30k loan over 3 years would cost just over £1500,

those rates would make most Pcp's, Hp agreements or other forms of finance seem pointless
Hmmmm. 3.3% of 30k is 990. Not sure how that equates to 1500 unless i suppose you pay all the capital off over 3 years. Monthly payments of 876!!
don't know,

that figure was taken from the website using their online calculator.

I'm not sure pointless is the word. It's just another option that allows a lot of convenience.
true,
and I'm currently on a Pcp myself which may make me look like a bit of a hypocrite, but the rate was 0.9% so it seemed like a no brainer

OK my lease is almost up.
I am paying £223.43 a month presently (5 door dsg white). I have only done 15K miles and so asked VW Finance for a quote for an extra year on my lease but for just 5K miles (as I have 5K miles of my current 'allowance' left).
So this will be £268.22 pm which seems very reasonable to me.

Hello,

Posted this in the S5 thread as have one on order at £11,500 over two years. Seems to be delayed until mid May now so looking at alternatives, one being the Golf R.
Can those with the R just give me a brief summary of the car? What it's like to drive, interior, avg mpg etc etc
Golf R deal i have is £7,800 over two years for the current outgoing model.

Right gents,

Need some advice as seen two substitute cars instead of the S5 and looking at the both seriously.

335d xDrive M Sport 5dr Step Auto Personal 9+23 5k mileage
All in £9318.1 RRP £41,435 9381 / 41435 = 0.2264 x 100 = 22.64 22% of value

Personal 9+23 8k mileage
All in £10035.502 RRP 41,43510035 / 41435 = 0.2422 x 100 = 24.22 24% of value

Mileage overcharge 5k to 8k 12 ppm 0.12 x 3000 = £360
So £717 extra for 8k miles a year. Paying the charge myself would be £360 if I did extra 3k miles. I do around 6k miles a year.

Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 2.0 TSI R 5DR [NAV]Current Model Manual Personal 9+23 5k mileage
All in £1620 + £6210 = £7830 RRP with NAV £30,400 7830 / 30400 = 0.2576 x 100 = 25.76 26% of value

So both cars are in stock. BMW 335D is mine if I want it as finance has been approved. Going for a test drive on Monday.
Golf, systems were down today but will get a call on Monday.

Pro of BMW
In stock, will get it by end of the month.
Better MPG
Better looking exterior
£2k cheaper than S5 over two years
Best Lease 'Value' at 22% over 2 years.

Cons of BMW
Built, so no options available.
Does not even come with heated seats as standard. I'm a skinny bd, so use heated seats every day except in the summer.
Concerns about PDF on low miles. If this blows up, would it be covered under warranty. BMW might consider it wear and tear.

Pros of Golf
In stock, will get it by end of the month.
Better MPG than S5, worse than 335D.
£4k cheaper than S5 over two years

Cons of Golf
Built, so no options available.
Not sure of standard options? If someone with a Golf R can help? Heated seats??? Brochure says this about Match trim level
Heated front seats (not GT Edition, R-Line Edition, GTE, GTE Nav, GTI ClubsportEdition 40 or e-Golf models)
Slower than both 5.1 to 60 in manual.
Lease 'Value' is worse than the others at 26% of value over 2 years.

Pros of S5
10/10 interior with VC - much better interior than others, just going off pictures of the others for now.
Fastest
Proper V6 so sounds the best naturally.
Can Spec my own options and change if needed

Cons of S5
Most expensive over two years
Worst MPG
Delays and waiting times. Currently May 15th build date. This could move forward, or be delayed further. A risk.
Would have to renew lease /insurance on current car. Then change mid term.

So basically have till Monday 5pm to decide which one I want. 335D test drive on Monday. Golf test drive on Sunday.
Will give Audi UK a call Monday, but even if they give me a build date, it might not be final, so still a risk. I stick with the Audi and then its delayed and delayed.
I jump on one of these deals, the Audi S5 comes forward on build date and then I regret picking the Golf or BMW for the nicer interior of the S5.
MPG on 12k over two years. BMW then Golf then S5
12000 40mpg at £1.18 a litre Diesel = £1609
12000 30mpg at £1.16 a litre Petrol = £2109
12000 20mpg at £1.16 a litre Petrol = £3164
Not 100% concerned about the MPG. I paid £3500 a year on my C63, that did about 11mpg. Just listed them for a comparison.

Be lucky to get 30 mpg out of the golf.... my dsg is 25 mpg over 2 years. I guess a manual will be slightly better though.

Or at least have a 10 mpg difference, I would think a lot of the people averaging 20 mpg in the S5 wouldn't get 30 mpg out of the Golf

Heated seats (winter pack) as standard on some Golf R's. Think it came in around autumn 16, so unless their stock is really old you should be fine.
Id go for the Golf, you dont sound like you need a diesel and it'll be lots more fun.

Hello all,

What does the PH collective think about this deal:

VW Golf R 5dr DSG Sat Nav Night Blue Met
Pre-Facelift
5k miles
£311/month including maintenance over 2 years
£1500 initial payment
£180 fee

I make that 25% (just) of a P11d of 34k.

Thoughts?

PS.Before anyone gets excited, this is the last one that this broker has...

Has anyone on here handed one back and got done for uneven tyre wear? My rear LH is almost illegal with both my rears having more wear on the outer side (of the car not both sides of tyre). Now the guide says uneven tyre wear due to under or over inflation which to me means that the middle of the tyre has less (under inflation?) or more (over inflation?) wear rather than a linear wear spread across the tyre with more tread to the middle of the car, which I would say is due to cornering/camber rather than inflation issues?

Just wondering if there was any experience on here. Saw another Golf on here got done but it was less worn in the middle of the tyre IIRC which would be under inflation?

Mine finally turned up. Love the night blue, really suits the car.

Only photo I have so far, sorry.

I really need to drive it properly at the weekend. First impressions are that it's a very capable car and a different place to be compared to my Fiesta ST. Not as playful, more grown up. I actually miss the playfulness of that car. The torque steer was predictable and the nimbleness made it easy to place. I suspect it's just an adjustment phase as the Golf really is point and go and just does it with no fuss.

I also need to read the manual as I need to make sure I'm fully aware of the adaptive cruise etc. I turned it off to get the mileage reading I think. Is the miles in the bottom left corner (circled) total mileage that doesn't reset?

Thanks.

Thanks on both counts. I had to play around with the settings for 10 minutes smile Saturday can't come quick enough.

I haven't seen many in night blue, so I'm very pleased with it. Paid a little more than the really cheap lease deals, but it was good at the time of ordering and works out around 25% of RRP if I do 10K a year and pay excess mileage.

Waiting for the onslaught of cheap lease deals for facelift now. laugh

I know it's a different chassis but my mk5 gti used to wear the inside of the rear tyres even after proper alignment.
