Cool, thanks.

I have heard that BCA sometimes give you an option to purchase? Think the figure has been pretty unrealistic, but any mention of that?
I am also interested in this as I spec'd my new car with the intention of buying it from BCA at the end of the lease period.

Hmmm, I just thought the Carbon effect on Red would go nicely...
Ah well, Window it is. I think I'm going to ask the supplying dealer to not put a dealer sticker on.

Hopefully they'll offer it to you!

What spec did you go for?

If you've got 15 minutes to waste, there's a production video for the Golf Estate, there's an R featured in there somewhere!

Maybe I'm a bit sad :/
That was excellent. Amazing stuff - R's look good from the underside too :-)

Wouldn't touch one of mine with barge pole after 2 years! I abuse the hell out of them, that's one of the benefits of not owning it. I drive my weekend toy with a lot more respect

Over two full weeks and tracker still shows 'processing order'. Hopefully the new week will bring a change in status.

I'm still on stage 1 as well and VW chat just told me "the retailer is waiting on quota" before they can confirm the build week. Not really sure what that means for how long it will take!

I was just wondering, would it be okay to put a PH Smiley on the lease car? Presuming I'd actually be able to take it off of course.
I bought a Carbon one at MB World, and wasn't expecting to change cars so quickly.
Would it be a bad idea? Or would it help protect the paint underneath?
Can't see it causing any issues with the paint to be honest. Just be careful during removal, heat it up to help it peel away more easily and give the area it a clean once done.

biggrin

The car looks great smile

Mine's a tad larger than that, but I didn't think it would be a problem either, I'll use a hairdryer to warm it up and give it a good clean afterwards smile

Thanks!

Only another 9.5 weeks to go!

Most probably the same reason why the status of mine hasn't changed. Dealers get a quota on how many models are allocated to them over a certain time frame. The reason is to allow fair supply over the dealership network. When they use their quota they have to wait until a new quota is issued to them. They can take orders OK but no cars will be supplied until the new quota is issued. That's my understanding of it anyway.

Indeed. I did try and explain this earlier in this thread, and some others either didn't understand or were given conflicting information. The simple fact is that each dealer (or dealer group) has a limited number of build allocations for each model in any given period. If you contracted your R through a dealer who had already taken a load of orders (for a variety of models) then they simply wouldn't have the spare allocation from VW UK to be able to confirm your build.

Dealer A can't just put through 100 Golf orders and expect them all to be accepted in one go.

Out of interest, you lovely lot, do any of you avoid using 95 RON in your Rs?

I've a '16 Scirocco R, rather than a Golf R, if that matters.

I don't. I used Shell V Power for the first month or so but i've been on 95 RON since then. Can't say i've ever noticed any difference really!

How long is a "period"?

Since getting my order in for one of the estates a few weeks ago; I've been keeping an eye out for to see if I can spot any other R estates. I do quite a bit of driving but as yet I've not seen a single one. Loads of 5dr hatches but not one estate. They've been out a while now haven't they?

Ive actually only seen a very small number of golf estate of any sort (they look distinctly average too, except for one GTD estate which looked quite nice)

Anyone else spotted many about? Just out of interest really...

From my Ford days it was quarterly, but VW could be different. The factory will be building cars anyway, to a set number of specs and as new orders come in or orders get cancelled, dealers are able to move waiting orders into those slots. This is why some dealers get "stock" vehicles, as they have to use up their build allocation so they place orders in for generic cars hoping a buyer will come along.

No, not seen any either.
Plenty of hatches, as you say, but no R estates.
Loads of my old car about too - M135i

R hatches and M135's are everywhere near me - lots of good deals on these has helped to increase numbers and the fact that they are bloomin' excellent!

R's have had some cracking lease deals in the last 24 months and the M135i can easily be had with 22%+ discount off list.

Good times for fast hatches (and estates)
