Yes it gets loud inside. I'm not sure if the noise is real and piped in or fake through the speakers.

Anyone confirm?

Sounds pretty realistic to me.
I believe I read that it is real piped into the cabin via a resonator, doesn't come through the speakers.

That is a bit disappointing. No LED rear lights and fake exhaust pipes. What else does the estate not get?

I know some of the options are hatch only too, e.g. 90% tint on rear windows wasn't available...

The lack of LED lights spoils the look a bit for me. I still ordered one so it wasn't a deal breaker.

I've told the misses that I am getting a Golf estate and it will arrive in June. She thinks I am being very sensible and is worried I will be bored of this in no time at all and can not actually believe I am going this sensible.

When the car arrives I shall have it parked up against the house so she will not see the exhausts when she gets back from work. When we go out in the car I shall always be opening the door for her and try to never let her look at the back of the car. This couple with putting the car in Eco mode should hopefully convince her that it is indeed a plan golf estate. She also likes white cars so hoping there shall be no issues for the duration of the lease!

I've never liked the Golf 7 LED rear lights, so that's a bit of a bonus for me. They look very cheap and tacky IMO, same with the Touareg LED tail lights.

The 7R estate does sound a bit fruitier than the hatch, based on the various youtube vids i've watched anyway. The 'fake' internal noise from the 'soundaktor' is great for the first week or so, but soon grates. I had mine turned off when it went in for some warranty work after a couple of months. Just wish the 'real' exhaust note was a bit better.

Just say it was a silly no cost option and you are a big kid really.

Soundaktor, it's in the scuttle at the bottom of the windscreen. It's fking embarrassing, I've unplugged mine.

The back is the least of your worries, all the blue, backlit highlighting in the cabin is your challenge.

Didn't realise that about the exhaust which is quite annoying. My OCD will be in overdrive with 2 clean and 2 dirty exhaust tips. It wouldn't have been difficult for VW to change the design to make all 4 work.

It is what it is I guess and it won't take away from the driving pleasure.

Just change the exhaust tips for black ones - no need to clean then!

Is that the best idea with a lease car?

Just put the standard ones back on when it goes back - they are only held on with an allen key aren't they??

I have no idea.

I did see somewhere, that you can get black Exhaust tips, but they're £48... Each!

£48!! I'll keep a £1 sponge from the petrol station in the boot to keep them shiny ;-)
