Just spoke to VW LiveChat, and got the following: It's looking good for a 13th June collection.
"It is currently on a ship named Ems Highway to the port of Grimsby and it should arrive by the end of today."
I tracked the ship and it's meant to have docked at 07:40.
It takes just under 24 hours to get from Emden to Grimsby.
It's last tracked location was at 08:11 in Grimsby. - This is actually when I received the text that it was 'on a boat'.
I then got some more information and got this reply:
"We usually allow 48 hours for the vehicle to be unloaded. However, this can happen sooner. Once the vehicle is unloaded it stays in compound for 12 hours and a transport order is raised for the vehicle by the Retailer. It can then take 7-10 working days to arrive at the Retailer."
My timeline is as follows:
Order date - 7th April 2016
Build Week Confirmed - 22nd April 2016
Build Week Commences - 16th May 2016
In Transit - Stage 5a - 18th May 2016
Shipping (at Emden) - Stage 5b - 21st May 2016
Near the UK (On a Boat) - Stage 5c - 26th May 2016

It only moved to stage 1 after a heated exchange with VW online chat, order number is confirmed as correct
I ordered a Touareg through the same dealer on 15th April and that is being built next week. Clearly something gone wrong in the ordering process for the Golfs - over subscribed?

Good to hear that folks are getting their cars delivered - I think that there is going to be a big distribution of delivery dates with this deal - mine was ordered 8th April (just squeaked in on the deal!) and I got my stage 2 about 10 days ago too, and have a predicted build week of wk 30 (i.e. 25th july) - so likely no with me until August - spoke to dealers and they did say that the date might move (earlier, not later) when build week is fully confirmed, so fingers crossed.
I have already advertised my current car, having expected delivery earlier than that, but I guess we will wait and see...

Easy for me to say, but isn't it worth waiting for now? 2 years in a Golf R at the deal you got is surely worth it, and also I haven't seen anything remotely comparable come up since.
There are always deals, just need to decide if you are willing to chance the next one being better and not having any regrets.

I wouldn't cancel now, the time invested has to be worth hanging on a little longer? A July build will be delivery on a 66 plate I presume?Not happy
