I've been given a blank new key to go with my recently purchased S5 as it was missing its spare. How do I go about getting this coded to work with the car and is it something I can do myself?

Unfortunately unable to take it back to where it was originally purchased from, that would've been the easy option...

Any autospark with the correct gear. Autologic is the most obvious.
Be about £80 - 100 I would have thought.
Where are you?

Thanks - I'm just north of London

Also the car has KESSY if that makes any difference/ adds extra complexity...

It depends a lot on whether your 'new' key really is new, or previously used. The Audi gear won't allow the re-coding of a pre-used key to another vehicle, I believe. Aftermarket auto locksmiths can usually do it, so long as the operating frequency of the key matches your vehicle.

Keyless won't make a difference to the process - it's the same key for both.

I had mine done FOC by Audi, but I ordered a replacement emergency key from them directly. With keyless make absolutely sure you have the emergency plastic key AND it's holder. The holder should live in a slot in the glovebox but WITHOUT the plastic key left in it, for obvious theft prevention reasons! They often go walkies and you'll usually find you have 3 keys coded to the car but not all present - for insurance reasons getting the coding removed for lost keys is a very good plan.

Also don't forget to get the key blade cut to suit in case you need to use it
