2006 FSI 1.6 opinions please.
Discussion
I have just test driven one of these for our daughter and was underwhelmed by the performance; trying to accellerate hard but waiting for it to happen (slight exaggeration but you know what I mean). There was no clutch slip, but the car has covered 116000 miles which is probably high for a smallish petrol engine. Is this sluggishness normal for a 1.6, given it's a fairly heavy car, or could it be a real problem and we should walk away?
Thanks

I think it's normal.
I have had the use of an 08 eos 1.6 fsi for the past couple of years (which is quite a heavy car for the engine size)
Lots of noise but no real power.
It's an adequate engine and once up to speed is quiet enough etc.
I wouldn't say it's an issue with the engine, but perhaps you'd be better off looking at a tsi or a diesel if you're looking for more poke.
Totally depends on the model in question + requirements.
