Car is 2006 A4 cabriolet 3.0tdi quattro s line.

Its chipped and making about 280BHP and 415 ft lb torque.

Car is used for weekends and holidays on the road. Its not taken on track. I do take it to Europe on the autobahns and alpine passes though, and it can get driven in a spirited fashion!!

I want to upgrade the brakes, I am looking at EBC Ultimax discs and EBC red stuff brake pads. Does any one have any recent experience of these ( I understand that they used to have issues.)

Does any one have any different suggestions?

I would like the brakes to be as good as possible, but definitely do not want anything that squeals or does not work properly when cold!

There appear to be different disc sizes and pad sizes listed for my car, does anyone know if its possible to tell from the chassis number which size my car has, or will I have to take the old ones out and measure them?

Just find a set of S4 ones on ebay. Youll need the lot though, disks, calipers and back plates but they just bolt straight on. Thatll give you 345mm fronts.
