mk6 gti vs mk7 without performance pack
Discussion
Specifically I'm comparing the Mk6 to a Mk7 with the exclusion of the performance pack.
And in the used market there is a gigantic gap in price between a 2012 mk6 GTI and a 2013 mk7 GTI, about a 1/3 more of the price.
Every where I look, (TG, CH, MT, etc...) they all do their reviews on the GTI performance pack, with the better Diff, etc. and say it's amazing, and specifically, that Diff, but where I live, they do not offer the PP with a DSG car, which leaves it pointless because driving a manual where I live is the last thing I want to do for a daily driver in a congested city.
Very few reviews on the base GTI itself. Honestly, how does it stack up and is it worth it?

The wife has a mk7 Gti (non-PP) and it really is a lovely car. In my view, it does pretty much everything really well albeit I can see why some want a little more excitement from their hot hatches since the Golf generally just goes about its business and gets on with it all.
Frankly, the PP would have been wasted on the wife as the extra 10hp isn't really anything to be concerned about. However, I can't comment on the diff as we didn't try a PP version with it. What I can say is that our Golf feels well planted, perfectly nimble and pretty potent given it is quoted at "only" 220hp.
Not sure if it will be of any use but this is a video review of a non-PP Gti which may be useful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYHJt5KCsyU.
