The Cupra (Black) Lease thread

Just received this email from Carly
455 Cupras in 7 weeks. I wonder what happens after 7 weeks if they don't build all 455?

Hi Everyone,
As a number of you are aware, I have not been receiving any updates from SEAT with regards to your orders.
I emailed SEAT Dealer Support on Tuesday about this and I have just received a response this afternoon.
Below is the response I have received from them:
“Hello Carly,
The factory have 455 CUPRA on orders.
They have 7 weeks to build them which they are working hard to achieve. Due to this volume many are showing at status 00 with no build. When the factory can they will give them a build week, move to 10 and so on.
This is just the normal SLI build process – it is just slowed down by the volume of orders.
Many Thanks

I just thought I’d share the response I have received directly from SEAT Dealer Support, so you all know exactly what I have been told
As soon as any of your orders have an update showing on them, I will certainly let you know
Thank you all again for being so patient and understanding.
Many Thanks,
Carly.

I got the same email. The 455 orders comment had me a little surprised, especially with 7 weeks to build them.
Is that a lot of SEAT to handle? What's the norm? I guess it depends on the factory but how many Leons, or Cupra's specifically can they build in one week?
It'll be a PR nightmare if SEAT cannot fulfil these orders and have to let down their Customers. Something I guess VW wouldn't want at all!
Thanks, C.

I will volunteer to take a MY17 for the same money if it helps...Is that a lot of SEAT to handle? What's the norm? I guess it depends on the factory but how many Leons, or Cupra's specifically can they build in one week?

455 cars in 7 weeks is heehaw. The Nissan line in Sunderland has a qashqai rolling off the line every 62 seconds and no matter how anybody wants to think of their Cupra, the fact is it's a mass produced car. Ok, they won't be doing 1 car every minute due to time for siestas and tapas breaks and what not but still, a line that probably runs 24/7 will churn that out no bother.
However, to throw a little spanner in the works. I read on the seat forum that they were having issues and production was running a 3-4 week set back. Could be bks.

Agreed, I work in Automotive logistics, visit Halewood and JLR Birmingham quite often, they certainly roll of pretty fast, also get driven quite hard round the compounds for anyone who worry's about the running in However, to throw a little spanner in the works. Awesome and yes don't forget to post lots of pictures!!
I said earlier on in this thread that I've not seen even 1 Cupra on the road; however, all that changed yesterday! I saw my first Cupra although I wasn't sure if it was a 280 or 290 - it definitely wasn't a Cupra black. Are the wheels different on a normal 280 compared to the 290? If not, then I'm not sure how to tell them apart, except for the small 280/280 badge.
But anyway, it looked awesome and the Mrs approved as well, although she did say I can use her car and she can use the Cupra. :-(
Thanks, C.

Yes, the 280 has 5 pronged alloys, the cupra black has the many small spokes. A cupra 280 with the black-line pack will have the 290 alloys though.I said earlier on in this thread that I've not seen even 1 Cupra on the road; however, all that changed yesterday! You could also get a 290 with the standard 5 spoke wheels..... before they ran out and decided to start punting Black editions on the cheap then not bother offering the standard Cupra at all (at the moment).
Anyway. Yes, post pics and keep this thread going with info and opinions when you guys start getting your cars. Should just keep it going as an owners group. Some of us will be waiting a while still and it seems that even the seatcupra forum is a reflection of how few of these cars are on the road. Not many cupra specific threads and hardly anyone ever posts a photo, zero videos etc. Seems to be largely populated by diesel FR owners.

Happy days, as creator of this thread SEAT should have delivered mine first
Out of interest what was the build week and order date?
I ordered on 7th of July and was given a build week of 37. Ordered an ST in Alor blue. Out of interest what was the build week and order date?
CVL have been pretty rubbish to be fair, I rang them last week and was told 6 weeks so thought I had plenty of time to sell my current car, then get a call today saying it's in stock and ready for delivery!
I suppose it's better that then it being late though.
