Managed to sort my rattle I think. Removed the parcel shelf, which seemed to be correctly fitted and gave it a right hammering back into place. Rattle free! Which is absolutely lovely coming from the older Leon. If I had the radio at 50% volume the whole car would rattle and squeak.

Haven't noticed much of an issue with my LED lights as my xenons in the old Leon were alright, better in the wet as all xenons are, but they were set really low. So I think I'm used to driving with not much light ahead of me. Going to raise my lights by 3/4 turn today though and see if I notice a marked improvement.

Ok it's early days so I've not been able to find any info readily available and any sources I have found are a bit contradictory of each other... but can anyone say for definite whether:

- The Cupra 4WD will only available in the ST (estate shape) or will it be available in hatchback too?
- The 4WD version is going to be DSG-only or will they offer a manual version too?

The answer to the first question isn't too important as I like both body shapes, but the second question is a deal breaker for me as I don't like auto boxes and would require a manual.

So I finally picked up the motor on 5th January, sadly not been out in it too much. First impressions are very positive. Love the car the in fact. Obviously with the crap weather we've been having I haven't been able to experience the full handling and grip capabilities, but it sure does feel very planted and I like the smooth power delivery. Having come out of an Alpina D3 (mono-turbo variety) which had bags of torque but a narrow power band it's nice to be able to mash the throttle and power through the rev range. Despite what others have said on here, I quite like the Cupra "noise". Sounds almost Quattro-esque, but to be fair I have come out of running diesels for the last few years, so maybe anything not powered by the fuel of satan is going to sound good to me!

The only issue I seem to have is a very annoying wind noise coming from the top of the drivers door right by my ear. Has any one else experienced this? I did a quick internet search and found that this has effected other Leon's. It only does it above 50 / 60 miles per hours. The fix appears to "lean on the door with some force"... Not sure that sounds right to me???

Had mine nearly a month and already done 1200m. The only benefit of this st weather is that it makes it easier running it in (if that's your thing).

I really cant wait for some dry and warmer weather and yes I get the wind noise too.

No wind noise at all. Just an annoying rattle from the rear, which I thought I'd fixed.

For wind noise, I'd take it to a dealer. Obviously a seal somewhere isn't doing its job and I'd be worried if it was the door/window, water may get in if rain hits it at the right angle.

800 miles in now and loving every minute. It's a joy to drive both hard in Cupra or conservatively in eco. Had a few chances to give it some power and it's phenomenal, power just keeps going, the power band and noise almost reminds of the pre turbo type r's, it just keeps pulling. I test drove a fk2 type r and Golf R prior to getting the seat and performance wise there's nothing in it other than the off line start in the golf. In eco it drives nicely and stays low 30s mpg. Value for money wise it was a no brainer to get this over a civic or golf. Great size for me as well, kids in back no probs if needed. Seats are very comfortable. Media pack very good, like the apple car play for the music. Overall very chuffed.

someone priced one up for around £33-34k the other day for the ST 300 AWD.

I picked my cupra 290 black this week and its a cracking car. ideal for a daily and awesome lease deal. fast, fun, cheap to run and a little less obvious than the golf r

Just looked on the configurator and it lists a 2wd 300 Manual ST? Is this correct? I was under the impression the ST was going to be AWD and DSG only.

Huh, well you're right it looks like they're offering FWD manual or AWD DSG on the Estate, completely contrary to their original press release!

Prices are £31,135 and £34,170 respectively.

Silver is no-cost as are 19's. Pretty good spec. Let's see what the dealers can offer!
