Anyone had any updates from CVL today about what's going on with VWFS updating the contracts to reflect the correct excess mileage charge?
My car is sitting at DM Keiths and I've not a clue about when I'm going to be getting it yet!!
I've heard nowt Rob. I presume mine is close to DM Keith's, if not already there. I'm week 38 and some other lads on week 38 have already had theirs I think.

I was going to call them for an update but haven't had time.

Anyone else heard from CVL/DM Keith?
I am getting very limited info atm, I get the feeling the car has arrived but dm Keith are yet to confirm this to CVL so they can manage their workload and not get too bogged down. I have requested collection on Friday 28th and been told it is possible but they can't confirm for sure until Tuesday.

I'm slightly wondering if ringing the dealers is going to pi$$ them off with us calling as well as CVL...assuming they are calling! I think they, CVL, have to ring their Business contact at DM Keith in Leeds to ring York, who then ring CVL and then email us.

I hear what you're saying but last time I called DM Keith, girl I spoke to was really nice and helpful and didn't seem like she was pissed off at all. I told her I ordered through CVL and she put me on hold and gave me an order/build number when she retuned. At that point I was told it was in transit but I already knew that judging by other lads on here with the same build week.

For those who are still waiting I thought I'd update my experience after week 1.

Overall, very positive I've been impressed by the refinement and high-speed ride for a hot hatch... done 550 miles, mostly motorway and averaged around 30-35mpg which is pretty good for a new engine. I did run it in for first 500 mile (a**l I know!!) which probably helped with that.

The car's got tons of power... almost too much for FWD I reckon. In the wet it wheelspins on 3/4 throttle in 3rd gear! I have been missing the traction of the 911 and when I got back in that on Thursday it did still seem "special" and a different driving experience to the Cupra so I think I'm gonna hang onto it... the mrs won't be impressed!

In the dry though the Cupra's a blast, it's fun balancing on the throttle round long corners and you can really feel the diff tightening the line, locking up for the exit. I'm still not settled on which driving mode I prefer. The noise all the time in Cupra is a bit annoying on the throttle setting so at the moment I'm going Comfort for everything except cupra for steering and diff. High speed stability is more planted than the 911... definitely don't realise how quick you're going.

The steering still feels a bit twitchy at 70-80 on the motorway, don't know if it's just me but either the tracking needs a look or it's really susceptible to picking up grooves etc in the road. I'd be interested to know if anyone else finds this.

The stereo's really good for a standard set-up. In some cars it's awful to encourage you to upgrade (e.g. Mini - terrible standard system) so I was really pleased with this. Sat nav DAB etc. all good to have. I agree with the previous post about the apple car play through - I don't really see what all the excitement is about unless you particularly want to be texting everyone as you drive along.

So you've been told it's at the dealers already, Nick?

Don't understand why others on build week 38 haven't received any updates.

Getting a bit sick of it all now tbh. Ordered through CVL on 6th July and it now 14 weeks since that date.

Good feedback, I am glad the fuel economy is sensible as that was a slight concern for me, obviously not expecting a 300 bhp hatch to be frugal but didn't want to be similar or worse than my rx8!

I have not been told specifically my car has arrived so may well be putting 2+2 together and getting 5. To be fair to CVL they are now responding quickly to the couple of emails I have sent this week which gives me the impression it is DM Keith who are maybe a bit stacked out and so are not giving too much away in terms of vehicle arrivals. The excess mileage saga has most likely not helped either!

  • Update from DM Keith (Leeds)**
Charlotte from DM Keith in York (where our cars are) has said that all instructions for our cars comes from DM Keith in Leeds (Corporate Fleet Dept. - Gary is CVL's account, contact tel 0113 277 1777).
Gary has now told me that they have taken the excess mileage issue up with Seat UK in Milton Keynes who have retrospectively applied the new charges to the contracts signed at the 'old' 6p ex.VAT rate. They have yet to come back to Gary with an answer, but he is is chasing them. As soon as this is resolved then new paperwork can be generated and sent out via CVL - we may have to chase them for this though!

Thanks for sharing, although nearly a month in mines still only done 300 miles, the fake noise thing means it spends most if its time in comfort when i'm driving it, that wore off really quickly, first weekend I thought it was great now I want to rip the speaker out.

I also agree with the speed thing, in my MK2 you felt you were going fast, this car has much more of a big car feel and the speed climbs up at an alarming rate, I find too if your trying to drive nice and slow it has to be in comfort mode, any other setting creates a surge at the slightest touch of the accelorator
