Great pics, thanks for taking them.

I didn't know the ST didn't have a reworked exhaust! That's a bit stty of them, i was quite happy with the cabin noise on my 10 minute test drive but i wasn't aware it had a speaker feeding me lies, and many have fallen out of love of the noise very quickly so that’ll get turned off after a week and you can’t beat genuine pops and crackles from the exhaust on over-run god dammit!!
My brother will be collecting his new M135i in December, the neighbour on the street has one and it make genuine exhaust noise. I'll be gutted if i can’t get some of that in the Seat and I’m sure my brother will enjoy rub salt in my wounds i'm quite sure.

IIRC sure i saw a thread on SCN saying the ST DOES have the revised exhaust (even the 280 does) as it was released after the SC and 5dr, then the same update was applied to the other models for the 290.

The M135i is much louder. It always will be. My best friend has one. It's absolutely lovely on a cold start, but I think leaving at 6am, my neighbours would begin to get tired of me.

I'm expecting the M135i to be louder, the neighbours car sounds delicious even at really slow speeds exiting the close but i didn't want the Cupra to be silent in comparison to it. I'm pretty jealous tbh, as i wanted one myself but the Cupra was such a steal i couldn't pass up. I'm i'm BMW guy through and through having owned a Z3M, 328 sports, 540 supercharged, and still have my modified 328 24v E21 and E28 M535i.

Still, i'm happy with my choice and gagging to get behind the wheel of the Cupra and see what it can do. Glad it does have the revised exhaust. smile

I used to own a BMW M135i and I'm not expecting the Cupra to even come close when it comes to noise. The BMW is a 6 pot after all - there's no replacement for displacement as they say.

I had the BMW M performance exhaust on mine. Here's a short sound clip.

I'm currently in an M135i too. I'll miss it but the cost differential was enough to sway me into a 290 rather than another m135i.

Yep, that definitely sounds fantastic! The 290 has baby pops apparently, but as you say the 135i is a 6 pot so will naturally sound better than a 4 pot. I bet BMW also didn't use their speakers to enhance the sound either!

I remember when I first heard about this happening - it was on the Renaultsport Clio 200 and I think you could select even a GTR engine note/exhaust sound and I was like WTF - is this seriously something they added in there?! It put me off instantly so I'm not sure what I think about the Cupra doing it!

The M135i does pump sound through the speaker too unfortunately. It's not intruding though so you hardly notice. It seems to be common practice nowadays. Even the M3 does it

Wow. I had no idea. I suppose because the number of cylinders are reducing and/or going down the turbocharging route, they have to compensate somehow. Does the S3 do it, and what about these new Boxster S's and Caymans, etc? Also the Focus RS - that sounds pretty darn good but have never heard anyone mention its partly enhanced through the speakers. I suppose that's a 2.3 which may help a little?

I think the reason they do it is because of sound deadening. People want to cut out road and wind noise inside the car but want to hear the exhaust note. You can't have both so they feed the sound of the exhaust in through the speakers.

I emailed Craig from CVL earlier to ask if he could get in touch with Gary from DM Keith to find out what the hold up was with my car. I called Gary last Friday and he told me the car is sitting at the dealership. Craig from CVL replied and told me that they had not had a delivery offer from DM Keith yet but would contact him and get back to me.

Getting really effed off now with the whole situation especially as I'll have another 2 week cooling off period to wait after the finance docs are signed. Surely this is a DM Keith issue as nothing can happen until they send the finance docs to CVL.

On a lighter note I spotted a 66 plate ice silver Cupra 290 black edition in the car park at one of my companies sites in Greenford, London. The number plates said Wessex Fleet on them and it must've been quite new as the white lines were still on the rear tyres. It looked amazing.
Hi signed finance docs yesterday at DM Keith Leeds had a call from Gary this morning confirming all finance is sorted,
Picking car up from Leeds branch on Wednesday as I'm away now till then..
Was the excess mileage sorted M44sgr or did you go down the tank of fuel route?

I'm also losing my rag a bit with it now.

I've not spoken to dm keith yet. Is Gary on the 01333 number I've found on t'interweb?
Waited for a week for it to be sorted, nothing had been resolved so just accepted tank of fuel for now, Gary said if millage thing is resolved then we all should go on the 7.2ppm, his contact number is 0113 277 1777

Thanks - I spoke to CVL again today and left with the impression this excess mileage thing just isn't going to get sorted. But without any clear explanation as to why not. They asked about the tank of fuel option as I think they're just desperate to see the back of the situation and folk like me pestering them. There's a bunch of cars just sat around now gathering dust.

What is interesting is it's only the DM Keith Cars that are affected so I just can't understand why it can't be resolved. It sounds like there's about 80 or so cars with CVL affected all together.

I've asked them to come back to me on Monday to see if DM Keith can do anything further but I just want to get it over with now. The 15k miles is going to cost me another £180 which is not the end of the world but it's just taken the shine off the deal.

So anyone else who's ordered through CVL I would advise to have a think about it now...

I have also finally seen a black edition in the flesh for the first time - In the work car park of all places (It's a big site so I've no idea who it is) thought the wheels and seats looked spot on whilst trying to have a nose around it without looking too dodgy...

But it was red... which I assume means it must have been purchased? Was red an option on these leases? I can't even remember now.

So i can still feel smug if I ever end up getting the bloody thing.

You'll find it'll handle much better on a set of 17"s with some decent rubber and a larger sidewall. I would like to downsize the wheels for track days and run some used slicks if it's within budget.
Yep - the 290 feels anything but nimble on the 19s. For show only IMO and would happily downsize.

Out of interest was the ring car on the 19s?

Red was definitely an option on these lease cars, but I believe because it's a no cost option (non metallic I believe), most people preferred to have a colour (metallic) that actually had a cost attributed to it as the cost for colour was free on these leases - Or this was my logic at least. And that I didn't want my car to stand out and attract unwanted attention.

I went for Monsoon as it's the most understated of all the colours IMO.

Thanks, C.

I picked my car up this week and I am very pleased with it. I have only covered 40 miles or so but I am hoping to bond with the car more next week. It feels faster than the Megane RS250 I previously owned due to the power coming in much earlier but I have not had the chance to test the handling properly yet.

I am hearing a lot of hot hatches being stolen, is anyone getting additional security? If so, what?

A couple of Cupras that see some ring time are Bridge to Gantry owner Dale - runs a standard 280 ST I believe and then you've got youtuber xthilox with a remapped 280 with 18"s, big brakes and coilovers. I'm not sure if anyone is running 17"s, i was looking at 17"s to keep costs down but will check out 18" costs as well.

Alright chaps,

I just wondered if we have any car detailing users in here? I used to be into full detailing back when I had my own car, but then company cars came along and lost interest.

I'm looking to place an order with Cleanyourcar.co.uk as I've used them before, but I've essentially forgotten the process (or in which order) you should apply things such as:

Pre-wax cleaners
Glazes
Sealants
Wax
Whatever goes on top of wax
Any others?

I've got products such as a clay bar (after washing), then AutoGlym Super Reshin Polish, Chemical Guys EZ Glaze, Dodo Juice Supernatural Acrylic Spritz, R222 Carnauba Wax then Dodo Juice red mist tropical. Is that the right order to apply?

I'll be using two bucket method with Chemical guys maxi suds 2, separate bucket for wheels using Chemical guys orange degreaser applied first.

Am i missing anything or have I mentioned anything I do not need?

Thanks, C.
