Hopefully a silly question, but do they have CD players? I assumed it did, but saw the thread about the Octavia vRS not having one + checking the brochure, it's not mentioned.

I believe its like the Golf R - several SD slots and a single CD player in the glovebox.

That's what I initially assumed, but then I wondered if it has been deleted recently like the Octavia.

Alright chaps,

I just wondered if we have any car detailing users in here? I used to be into full detailing back when I had my own car, but then company cars came along and lost interest.

I'm looking to place an order with Cleanyourcar.co.uk as I've used them before, but I've essentially forgotten the process (or in which order) you should apply things such as:

Pre-wax cleaners
Glazes
Sealants
Wax
Whatever goes on top of wax
Any others?

I've got products such as a clay bar (after washing), then AutoGlym Super Reshin Polish, Chemical Guys EZ Glaze, Dodo Juice Supernatural Acrylic Spritz, R222 Carnauba Wax then Dodo Juice red mist tropical. Is that the right order to apply?

I'll be using two bucket method with Chemical guys maxi suds 2, separate bucket for wheels using Chemical guys orange degreaser applied first.

Am i missing anything or have I mentioned anything I do not need?

Thanks, C.
I'm half into it, but I haven't cleaned my car myself for ages and I've relied on the hand car wash guys to do it as I've been really busy.

I do enjoy it though, and the 'super quick hand job' guys who rush and scratch your paint doesn't leave the car looking as fresh as it could, so I went and bought some new products to get myself back into it and give it a good going over as she needed some modelling photographs so could advertise for sale. It's a minefield of products but generally they all work pretty much the same and it comes down to choice and budget. Some of the products are so expensive and I think you're paying for a perfume more than anything else. Take the Autosmart G101 general purpose cleaner, it'is such a versatile product you can use this pre-made in some cheap spray bottles at different dilutions for most of the work of the cleaning work IMO and it's cheap for a 5ltr concentrate bottle off ebay.

The only thing I want to add to the collection is my own pressure washer as had to borrow a mates, and a snow foam attachment. I don't think it's a vital process, but it looks cool as feck doesn't it so I will invest at some point to play around with.

Exterior
Pressure-washed first to remove as much dirt as possible
De-greased lower half of car with AutoSmart G101 dilutted 20:1 dispensed using a foaming pressure sprayer
Pressure-washed again
Two bucket wash – heavy-ish on the shampoo with lots of suds using a synthetic wash mitt
Using a detailing brush to get into nooks and crannies removing any moss from window seals etc
Pressure washed again
Dried using a microfibre drying towel
Clayed the complete car using dodo juice lubricant - had it anyway but I would just use soap suds once it's finished to save money (although it does smell wonderful)
Pressure-washed rinse
Fresh shampoo rewash to remove residue
Pressure-washed rinse
Dried using a microfibre drying towel
Machine polished using Farecla G10 Finishing Compound to remove light scratches and swirls
Machine polished using AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine
Waxed using R222 carnauba wax using FinishKare #425 - Ultra Slick Polywipe lubricant

Wheels
Removed from car, used a mix of ironX, Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner, G101 10:1 mix, inner barrels clayed using old clay – including the spare wheel
Wheel arches clean with G101 10:1 mix with detailing brushes etc
Autosmart finish used on the plastic arch liners

Interior
Floor mats removed and vacuumed, piping cleaned with G101 30:1 mix
Carpets vacuumed
Leather seats, door cards, steering wheel and gearknob cleaned with Dr Leather using a magic sponge with light pressure and care being taken – amazing stuff this is
Light coating of Meguiars Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner & Conditioner – didn’t have anything else in the box to use.
All plastics cleaned with 303 aerospace protectant spray
Boot carpet cleaned with G101 30:1 mix via a foam trigger spray after being vacuumed
Glass yet to be cleaned! Ran out of time

Engine Bay
Pressure washed
G101 used to clean engine bay 20:1 mix via the pressure sprayer used an assortment of detailing brushes here
Pressure washed clean
Dried using old microfibre cloths
Autosmart Finish for the plastics and hoses, left to dwell then excess removed and dried to a matt finish

I'm a complete novice, but hopefully this helped in some way - probably not the best method but it worked for me.

I popped over to www.cleanyourcar.co.uk to buy a couple of bits, not that far from me and I wanted to ask for some advice. Very helpful but you can find cheaper online if you shop around but I was happy paying a little more for the advice. No fancy showroom or anything, just a few knowledgeable guys working out of an industrial unit packing orders so if you want a nice showroom display you won’t find it here but worth a visit if you’re local enough.

Anyone had an update recently from CVL?
Last I heard was my car was built 6 weeks ago and in transit 3 weeks ago but nothing since. 16 weeks since I ordered the car with a supposed 10-12 week wait until delivery. Its getting a bit frustrating now, its been a very poor service by CVL in terms of updates or even what the hold up is.

Have you got your Seat order number? If not, ask CVL for it. If they won't give it to you, ring DM Keith in Leeds and speak to Gary Parker and ask him for it since it will have been ordered through them. Seat customer services can give you all the info you need...

No update here, order date 7th June , the last time I had any update without chasing was the standard email lots of us had about 3 weeks ago.

I've stopped calling CVL and I'm dealing direct with DM Keith at this stage. I spoke to Gary at DM Keith on Friday to get an update and he said he was waiting for the amended finance docs with the excess mileage cost at 7.2ppm. I was working at the Cummins engine workshop in Leeds today which is about ½ mile from DM Keith skoda who deal with the pch stuff. We agreed that he would call me when he got the docs through from vwfs in Milton Keynes and I could come in and sign them after if finished at Cummins. By signing in person the 2 week cooling of period is bypassed. He called at lunchtime to tell me that vwfs weren't able to process the finance docs as the computer at Milton Keynes wasn't playing ball for whatever reason.

So from potentially signing docs today and getting the car by the end of the week, I'm back where I was on 6th July, no fking idea when I'm getting my Cupra!

To be fair to CVL and DM Keith, the hold ups from what I can gather are all to do with vwfs pissing us about and changing the ppm to 8.3p when we all signed orders 7.2p. Gary at DM Keith said last week that CVL had been chasing him hard for updates for their customers.

I contacted CVL last week & was told they were getting an update from the dealer still waiting for their reply!!
So I contacted Gary Parker and CVL on Friday to be told by Gary that they have the car at the dealership & will be sending paperwork to CVL on Monday. The delay was because of the change in excess mileage price, but now they had got it all agreed and it would be going back to 7.2 ppm..

Needless to say no paperwork today. I'm wondering if CVL are trying to spread the deals out from a cash flow perspective as they are part funding the initial payment (presumably from a commission payment). I worked in financial services for years and arranged finance for customers and occasionally things go wrong, but keeping customers informed is the most important thing, rather than ignoring it which is what CVL seem to be doing

It's not a CVL issue. I wrote a couple of posts up that vwfs couldn't get the paperwork to DM Keith due to an IT issue, therefore they were unable to send it to CVL. Gary said he had 12-15 of our CVL Cupra's at the dealership waiting to get pdi'd and sent out.

Thing is nobody has communicated anything to this effect, the only way I know about the excess mileage issue is reading this thread. A quick email from CVL would make the waiting a bit more tolerable.

Absolutely Nick, totally agree. That's why I'm not bothering to ask CVL anymore.

Yeah makes sense, I was avoiding speaking to DMK as I thought CVL may not be too happy but it seems it is the better way to go for getting accurate/any info.
