It is a stunning colour.

Quietly nervously hoping that my Ice Silver looks as good as it did in the press shots.

On the train on the way to pick mine up now biggrin

Early start that'd get me to the dealer about an hour before they open, but train ticket prices were daft otherwise.

Was planning a lovely get-to-know-you drive across the peak district on the way home, but need to get back for work, so I guess my first assessment will be how good it is in 50mph roadworks on the M6 and M1. frown
Happy days! Which dealer are you heading to?

I'm catching the train later too, getting mine from Lookers.
You got yours yet?
Yep. Picked it up half hour ago. Just had a little drive - it's not slow is it?! driving

test drove a 290 dsg st black today, really impressed with the car makes my 184 diesel feel sluggish compared,
you wouldn't know the power in comfort mode at 1/2 throttle really easy car to drive, whack in in cupra throttle then it just wants to go...

i really not sure about dsg box with a traditional handbrake.. i'm i right in thinking you have to put it in neutral for the start stop to engage? i couldn't see my self doing that if so.. and also compare to a golf r when in comfort does the golf r coast/trail when not on the throttle to save fuel?

i really think the 2017 (which has the auto handbrake) model will refine this car to make it a excellent buy or lease.

Start stop works in D, it goes off when brake is pressed, when pressure is lifted it restarts

TBH the auto handbrake in my golf R is one of the few parts of the car I'll be glad to see the back of. it's the only part of the car that's caused trouble, it's noisey and I just see no benefit. Mine even got accidentally knock on once while the car was still moving causing a serious brown trouser moment.

We've also got one in our automatic C class and it's even more of a pain in the balls than it is in the manual golf.

Yes, it's positioned badly and very easy for anyone to accidently activate.

Mine was accidentally activated by my coffee cup. It's placed right next to the cup holder so when you put a cup with a handle in the front cup holder it can press the handbrake on. It's not like a normal handbrake either, where it can be just a bit on. When that thing goes on it goes on at 200% force immediately. The back wheels locked up and I nearly went through the windscreen. It was lucky there was nothing behind me.

The one in the Mercedes is better positioned but has a weird way of working. It's also paired with a bloody awful automatic gearbox in that car. Absolutely terrible ponderous thing.

Does anyone know if the heated wingmirrors come on with the heated rear screen?

If they are working, they dont work very well!

You need the wing mirror knob in the heated position, they come on automatically below a set degrees, cant think what it is, something like 50% power 10 degrees to 15 100% power 10 degrees and below.

I always have the wing mirror knob set to heat on my mk2, guess I'll need to actually move it with the cupra if I want the dipped passenger mirror.

No, it's not! Overtaking in 3rd/4th is excellent.

Some other observations;
- I like the way the dipped lights rise when you put main beam on.
- 2nd gear feels torque limited
- I like the sound in comfort mode (no, or very little soundaktor - maybe it's just the natural intake sound)
- I think the soundaktor sound isn't too terrible in itself, just that the mapping of volume to engine speed and load is wrong/unnatural. I reserve judgement to change my mind in the near future of course! Oh and it causes a tizz behind the dash.
- ride comfort in cupra mode isn't too bad if you're on a country road, even at low speed. For a major road, it's too busy on smooth surfaces though.

ETA the speedo is difficult to read at a glance. The compressed, rotated scale and font means 60 and 80 look very similar. Officer cop

The delivery bloke got 34mpg sat at 80 so not too bad.

Sorry for upside down pic, also pic doesn't do it justice, it's a handsome thing

Hi all - Couple of little niggles - The alarm has gone off twice randomly now because the boot seems to be unlatching. Assume no one else has had this? Also - I've got the lights above the rear seats set to the middle option which I think should be on when doors open but nothing is happening unless I switch the light to one of the manual options. Am i missing something in a setting or are these faulty?

My rear roof lights needed to be switched to auto, they were not working with the doors when I collected, try flicking the switch over.

Just doing the little ones night feed so thought I post up my initial thoughts after a couple days of ownership!

Handover from Lookers was spot on, my mats were already fitted. It's a decent looking motor!

Really enjoying the car so far.
Plenty of power, the Cupra noise hasn't got annoying for me yet!
Ride is good, even on the 19's - I'm guess I'm comparing it to my previous Type R which was pretty harsh. Seats very comfy, warm up quickly!
Infotainment is good, Nav seems to be ok apart from the crap postcode entry. Sound system is fine for me.
The LED Headlights are brilliant.

Gearbox feels a abit notchy at the moment - probably still bedding in I guess? Dunno...
I agree with the speedo comment too!

Just need to sort my dipping mirror for parking, points towards the sky when I select reverse at the moment - any ideas? Will probably have a flick through the manual at some point.

Anyway for those still waiting, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Shout out to whoever posted the original deal and Imdeman who hooked up Carly's details.

My gearbox is same - not really obstructive, just a little notchier than expected, especially into 2nd.

Mirrors,I think you just make sure Left is selected then when you're in reverse, set the position you want.

Glad you're enjoying it

Looks good. You must have Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s to have that much grip

Mirror adjustment for reverse is as above.

The manual box is notchy between 1st and 2nd. It's worse when cold. Mine never lost that notchiness during its 8k miles. It's never bothered me though as 1st to 2nd shifts arent actually that frequent unless all your journeys are in town/traffic.
