Does anyone know how long it takes VWFS to assign a private plate?
I sent my retention form to them over the weekend and they reckon it will be done in 5 working days, will report back once it is complete
What's the process for this? Change the nominee to vwfs on the retention cert then send vwfs the cert?

Yes - just email the signed retention certificate to FleetCherishPlates@vwfs.co.uk and they quote 3-5 working days

Just to clarify you don't need to change the nominee or owt, they do it for you (should think so too for £50!)

Black roof looks good! Kinda tempted at that price too!

What's the plan at the end of lease? Will it come off ok in a couple of years?
Yes. Just heat it up, peel it off and give it a polish.

In the instructions they sent me it doesn't mention changing the nominee, but I suppose all they need to do is type "VFWS" in on the online reg change form.

So £285 p/m amortised for 6k a year.

I think this shows just stellar a deal the 290 BE was. Nearly double the mileage and between 10-20% cheaper a month.

Still, pretty decent price for a cupra 300, would prefer it on 8k miles for that price though.

I bet the engine and the power output is near identical to the 290 as well. They may have moved the torque a bit like they did 280 > 290 but doubt there will be any more horses hidden in there.

The only grumble i have so far is the headlights, which are pretty poor. Is it an easy enough job to switch them out for some Bi-Xenons?

This may be a lack of xenons in my others cars, but to me the LED lights are really good! As for bi-xenons, I'm 99% sure the mk3 hasn't come with xenons at all and only had LED's as a tech pack option (or free with cupras).

Agree that the headlights are awful. What kind of bulbs are the full beams? LED or Halogen?

How much do you think it would cost to get one of these wheels refurbed?!

Don't tell me yours is damaged already?! Cost would depend on the severity of the damage mate.

I think the lights are really good! Huge difference coming from a Pug 307.

My work van is a T5 Transporter Kombi and the lights on that are like a couple of flickering candles, absolutely st!

Happy with the lights. Less happy with the gearbox. If I was test driving a secondhand car and it had the same notchy gear change I would walk away from it thinking it was on its last legs. Feels like when the baulk rings are knackered on the syncro gears. Anyone else think the manual box is notchy?

Yes mine is a bit notchy, not so much that it bothers me but enough to notice. We are on about 1100 miles now and it seems to have improved a tad (or I am just used to it now)

Yeah I agree Nick. I'm not fussed as I know I'll have something different in 2 years. It seems to go into gear better when I'm a bit more forceful with it
