Good to know Jonno. Linwood is actually the nearest dealer to me.
Ah you can't be too far from me then, I'm in Erskine. Used linwood a few times now. They sent a driver 50 miles for a new wing mirror when I killed a seagull with mine on the M74! One of the few Arnold Clarks I have something good to say about. I posted a while back about my parking sensors being loose. Took it to a main dealer and sure enough the glue hadn't bonded to the bumper properly. Dealership had to fully remove the rear bumper and rear lights to reapply the bond. All covered under warranty but definitely worth looking out for

I'm in Gourock so not too far. The yellow flagged pirate doesn't get a great reputation but I think some of their dealerships are ok. The Arnold Clark VW dealer in Greenock is also very good.Has anyone noticed that the clock seems to jump between BST and GMT? I don't know where it gets its data from, presumably the radio? Radio 4 seems to show mostly GMT, radio 3 this morning had me on BST eg one hour earlier than it should be. That might be just coincidence though...very strange!
Also, how do I add favourite destinations to google maps via Android Auto? When I jump in the car at work to drive home, it usually pops up with "Home" as a destination I can select. However, in the morning, I have to use the voice command to find my work address. It would be nice just to select it from a list. I've found Google maps really useful for avoiding traffic though, I have three possible routes out of work and normally at least one of them is jammed. It's doing a pretty good job so far of setting me on the quickest route home.
I'm starting to get used to the way it drives now, particularly how to get the best out of the DSG gearbox. One annoyance is that whatever mode it's in, even with the stick in manual, it insists on changing up at the redline. This means I'm either pulling the paddle just at it does an auto up change, going up two gears, or it's changing up just as I hit the brakes and start putting in downchanges, meaning I'm one gear higher than I thought. It would be great if there were a way to have it properly manual! Another gripe is that the selector is bass-ackwards, it should be push forward for a downchange (as the brakes throw you forwards) and pull back for an upchange (as the acceleration is pushing you backwards). My wife's new Aygo gets this bit right, why can't VAG do it!

As my car is a Stage2 car I had the DSG file edited, I had auto change disabled in gears 2-6 so now mine holds the gears.I also wish downchange was forwards etc as per a sequential box.
Got our car in December along with the 250 deposit refunded and the initial payment contribution cheque which cleared all ok.
We rang 2 weeks ago about the vouchers and said they couldn't find us or the car on the system.
So 2 months after getting the car and still no payment has been taken, first one was meant to be Janary. 2nd payment due anytime now.
Got our vouchers though.

Amazing. I would just leave the car on the forecourt with the keys through the letterbox in 2 years time. Put the money in a high saver account. We rang 2 weeks ago about the vouchers and said they couldn't find us or the car on the system.

It's not just VAG that gets this wrong - most manufacturers get it wrong. It makes no sense to me as in motorsport it's forward for downchange and back for upchange.andypolack said:

They haven't taken my deposit but have correctly taken 2 monthly instalments - I am still about £300 up and have had the car 2 months! Can anyone confirm that these cars don't come with aspherical wing mirror glass, ie the edge furthest outwards lets you see your blind spot.
I don't think they have looking at mine, and being quite used to having them, I've had a couple of instances where the mirror showed nothing but a quick glance did.
Cheers

I thought I was going mad with the clock thing. I'm glad someone brought it up.
Tried to unplug my soundaktor thingy yesterday as the noise is horrible. The shuttle panel is much more awkward than on the golf so I couldn't actually get my hand in to unplug it. Very annoying.
Which clips did you remove when you tried? From memory when i did mine,i took a recessed pin out that is under the foam pad on the lhs of the panel and then two clips along the edge. I could just get my hand in and unplug the connector.Tried to unplug my soundaktor thingy yesterday as the noise is horrible. I took the three clips off the front. I didn't know about the clips under the foam at the sides. On the golf it was possible to get in just undoing the 3 spring clips along the front edge.
I'll definitely have a look for that other clip and get this thing unplugged. Its an awful sound, very farty. The golf actually made a reasonable sound but it was just a bit loud.
Wasn't a completely wasted trip under the bonnet though. I removed the snow grate from inside the air box. That's got to be +2bhp at least

Well I managed a whole tank full in Eco mode, trying to drive sensibly most of the time, and still only got 25mpg (average of 20mph so too much traffic rather than heavy right foot). I am now back in normal drivetrain mode, I found Eco would get confused when rolling up to a junction then trying to accelerate away, it would often be coasting just when I went for a gap.
So my individual settings are diff and steering in Cupra, DCC in comfort, engine in normal or comfort or whatever they call it.
Do you still get the full 300bhp when you floor it in Eco or Normal, or does that only happen in Cupra mode?

I have a manual and use ECO engine mode and Cupra in everything else apart from the DCC. Im getting 28mpg and will see 30-32 on the way home (20 miles). So my individual settings are diff and steering in Cupra, DCC in comfort, engine in normal or comfort or whatever they call it.

Still feels plenty fast enough
You get the same power in every mode. It's just that the response to the throttle input is varied along with a few other things if you have DSG (mainly shift points and coasting) and obviously the annoying fart box sound effect.
I went through a period of just using Eco all the time as I found having the box in D mode in all the other engine profiles changed at horrible times. The good thing about Eco also seemed to be that you could make quick progress with the box in auto mode as it changed early and utilised the lower torque meaning you made progress while very rarely getting any wheel spin or hop.
The last week or so I've been playing more with the engine in sport and manual shifting. I'm set on Cupra for the steering, comfort for the suspension and the diff on cupra. I use this in the personal profile and just change the engine option rather than switching to one of the preset profiles. I've noticed very little difference between the settings in terms of economy. I'm not a fan of the gearbox in S mode no matter what. It's not intelligent enough to figure when you aren't trying to completely max out a gear
