Hi.I have been following this forum for a while as I ordered a lease Monsoon Grey 290 back in October. As my current lease car isnt due or be returned until March 2017 the dealer agreed to hold it for me until then (the car arrived at dealers in December 2016). It was due to be delivered next Friday (10th March). As I live 100 miles from dealer they agreed to deliver it. I had a call from the lease company today to say that unfortunately the colour of the car is actually Alor Blue. They said it was the dealers mistake as they had ordered wrong colour and only just realised it wasn't what was specified. They said I can cancel order but this would mean I would be without a car. Am I entitled to compensation?
Also if I decide to keep it can I expect any compensation, as unfortunately it's not a colour a would have chosen. Any thoughts?

Join the club for the "I got a wrong colour Seat Leon Cupra 290"... It's not a fun club I am afraid.

I ordered a Dynamic Grey and got the Nevada White... I was not happy and kicked off big time. As this was a common issue, SEAT UK ended up providing the affected customers £250 in high street vouchers. Others, like myself, kicked off with the dealer as well. I managed to get side skirts and a front splitter supplied and fitted free of charge. I was happy with this. Another chap on here was able to push further and from memory got £750 additional cash back.

In your case, it doesn't sound like it was the same issue with SEAT running our of paint, but more so a complete and utter cock up by the dealer. In that situation, I would speak to the dealer principle and make some demands. The car itself is awesome, so the question is, could you live with it in Alor Blue? If so, kick off and get as much as you can. The side skirts look awesome, as does the front splitter (IMHO).

I haven't seen one in the blue in the flesh, so not really sure if It looks better than in photos. Is it possible that the dealer sold my Monsoon grey to someone else and as I was leasing thought I would accept a different colour at the end of the day? The leasing company said I could not contact the dealer myself but should go through them for any negotiations on compensation. They said it was possible they could reorder, but that would mean another 3 month delay for the facelift model. Anyway I wanted the previous model due to having the manual handbrake!

Still very annoyed that waiting this long and then having it for 2 years there is an issue with the colour. I know it's the same car underneath but colour is a major factor and a very personal choice for many people. At the end end of the day you are still spending 6 or 7k for something that wasn't exactly what you ordered. I guess I will have to see what they come back with in cash compensation, if any.

I was one of the ones affected by the Dynamic Grey issue, and ended up getting the Monsoon Grey. I'll be honest, after a day or two I didn't really care anymore as the drive more than makes up for it.

On another note, after not having seen any 290 Cupra's on the road, I saw 3 different ones in 3 days last week; Tamworth (Monsoon Grey ST), West Bridgford (Dynamic Grey) and Nottingham (Monsoon Grey).

I have only seen one other and that was a 5dr in Silver. I could be wrong but I think the Majority seem to be up North anyway.

I see a monsoon ST regularly but that is about it, I do like the rarity of our car, it is quite satisfying popping out and seeing a number of Golf R drivers but no Cupras.

I have Alor blue and it's lovely. I'd be buying the dealer a crate of beer for their 'mistake'

Turns out it was the Seat factory at fault for painting it the wrong colour. Still thought the dealer should have spotted it and let me know earlier (they have had the car for 3 months). They have offered to order a new one in the right colour and provide me with a car in the mean time. Is the new model worth the wait? Is it really any more powerful and more torque than the previous model as claimed?

No. The whole 280/290/300 thing is ridiculous.

Take the car.

The first pic is about right, the second is nothing like Alor Blue.

My ST is as quiet as a mouse - missing the farts that my Golf R gave!!

There is a chap on the S5 thread who is sending out speed camera databases to upload to the Audi nav via an SD card slot - is that possible with the Cupra??

Also on Appleplay, any way of getting Google maps rather than the sh*t Apple maps or opting in other Apps to appear?

Thanks

David

Now the nicer weather is here I am bloody loving ours, still love the looks, pace and handling and whilst economy is not massively important I am happy with an indicated 33 mpg. Have to admit to some borderline yobbish behaviour when in it on my own though!

Good stuff! Its a buzz to drive about in.

Still not getting it to fart as much as I'd like to, can you usually hear them with the windows closed?

Don't think there is. Pretty limited number of CarPlay apps at the moment.

I'd prefer Google maps too really but haven't found Apple too bad when I've tried it.
