OK need some help please. Sorry for the long post in advance

After my initial happiness of being told my car was built I have now received another call from the stealer with a problem.

When I placed my order in July I ordered it through Seat Liverpool, very nice dealer sorted me out a good deal after I got a quote from a online dealer. Think it was £185 + VAT with 3 payments upfront so about £222 with a admin charge of £180

Seat Liverpool beat that quote by a couple of pounds with me trading in my old Clio as the initial payment. All good with being told 8-10 weeks (Now know that was way off lol) Since July the salesman I dealt with has left the dealership. I have had very little communication from the dealers, with me doing most of the chasing for updates.

Anyway, I have now had a call from the dealers again saying that the salesman I placed the order with was a "BIT DODGY" and has been sacked from the dealers. Apparently the price I have been been quoted and agreed was never possible!! they are now trying to charge me £225 + VAT so about £270ish. To say Im not happy is an understatement!!!

But now im not sure what I can do, the dealers have said there is nothing they can do about the price "computer says no" style.

I wouldn't mind if I was told this when they first found out about the salesman but to leave it within 3 weeks of my car being delivered is not very good service.

Has anyone got any suggestions of what I can do????

Sorry for the huge post.

The only paperwork I have is the car order, just trying to find it but as far as I know there are no payment details on it.

I paid a deposit of £250 to secure the car, no email as placed order in showroom. Just one saying car had been ordered.

Sorry to hear this first of all.

Personally, I would fight this one out showing as much evidence as possible about the price you agreed on - that is if you really want the car at the price you agreed on. £222 per month on a 3+23 term with a £180 admin fee does sound about right from a price point of view (assume manual with metallic paint and around 8k pa?)

However, one thing that doesn't quite fit is the £250 deposit you paid. I can understand if you'd paid £180 (i.e. the admin fee), but where does the extra £70 come from? What was that for? This would perhaps indicate that the salesman was a bit dodgy...

Does your deposit receipt have any documentation of the lease price?

Thanks everyone.

The deposit of £250 was requested by the Manager, he wanted £500 but I said no. The reason for the amount was because he said "your ordering a £30k car and if you pull out Im stuck with it etc" I paid for it over the phone too so no receipt.

I have my order number and unconfirmed build week (42). If all get built then, should hopefully get delivered 2nd week of Nov! Very excited, first new car and coming from a 1.2 Corsa should feel rather quick!

Looking on the SEAT website it appears you get free breakdown when buying a new car.

http://www.seat.co.uk/owners/your-seat/warranty/ro...

Might be a daft question as I'm new to leasing, but will we get this included (technically we aren't owners confused) whether ordered direct from dealer or via a broker?

What a good way to tarnish the whole experience. The deal wouldn't have been 'pushed through' without the manager, dealer principal or whichever buzzword they're using this year. Fight it.

Nice one, thanks for confirming.

I was aware RFL was included and 1 broker website seemed to mention breakdown provided by manufacturer for 12 months - 3 years, but others included it under maintenence - so thought it might only be included if taking extra maintenence cover for the lease.

I'm not expecting enough fuel to even get to the nearest garage so anything extra will be a bonus!

Anyone else here still waiting for their Cupra Black order with Lookers in Stockport to change to status 11 with a build date?

My order number was issued 6 weeks ago and still no idea when its being scheduled...GRRR!

I know Carly is chasing but my Golf R is now on extended lease with 3 tyres not far-off..

And if you pull out now he's still stuck with it. And if the facelift does happen then it means he's going to have a pre facelift car sitting at his dealership that he's still going to be trying to get £30k for. I'd fight this one tooth and nail, their lack of management on what their sales team are agreeing isn't your fault so why should you pay the price?

If they do dig their heels in then there are cheap deals on the golf R and M140i at the moment. maybe not as cheap as the Cupra but at least it still means you have options. Might even be worth working out the price of an alternative and use that as weight in your argument.

Hi Sumo,

I ordered from Carly but my status code still remains at 00.

I ordered on August 24th so almost 4 weeks since I ordered. Sounds like you're two week ahead of me, yet we're in the same boat!

I've just emailed now so I'll post up any update I receive.

GRRRR indeed!

C.

Stealer has just phoned again.

Still no joy, not sure what to do. Really want the car but not paying the extra.

Think it maybe time to cut my losses and cancel :-(

I ordered through Stockport on 21 July. I did have an unconfirmed BW 39 but my status has gone back a stage since.

I spoke to Carly yesterday who is still chasing but I've not had any status updates for a while.

I ordered on 21 July for comparison.

I ordered on the 12th September from Lookers Stockport so very recently. All I've heard back so far is about the VWFS acceptance. I was advised the car should be available at the end of November but I'm expecting December.

How do you check your status or do you get it emailed to you?

Your order is now 2 months old with no build date...

I believe she has around 20 cars with this issue - she has assured me I will get one but no idea when!

If I have to replace tyres because I have to keep the Golf longer than anticipated then I will be looking for some contribution.

Hmm true...hasn't realised it's been 2 months!

Luckily I'm not in too much of a rush to get it it's just the lack of news that's annoying.

I kinda hoping I'll just get a call soon saying come and collect your motor!

Anyone with Stockport order before 21st July?

They have offered me my deposit back, so that's not an issue. Would much rather have the car to be honest.

If you want the car (don't blame you - such a good deal), then take it straight to the top. Stop faffing about with the dealership, they clearly aren't going to help. If they're incompetent enough to hire a 'dodgy' salesman (who knows what they were up to), then they'll probably deal with your problem in an incompetent manner.

Richard Harrison is Seat UK's CEO. His email address is: richard.harrison@seatcars.co.uk

Write a detailed, yet succinct, email to him explaining everything. Provide any form of proof that you have as an attachment to your email. If you made a verbal contract on £x per month on a 3+23 term then that's still ok (make sure you quote the correct amount, no hazy figures). Provide dates of events where possible.

The fact that you paid a £250 deposit shows that a deal was made. And if the CEO's complaints team investigate properly, then they'll see that VWFS were offering a deal similar to yours on PCH. Why should it be your fault that the delaership didn't/don't vet their employees? Also, use the fact that there was a significant delay in informing you about this problem, I can understand if they informed you a week after you went to the dealership, but to leave it 2+ months is beyond a joke.

Bottom line is, you went to the dealership, had a play with some numbers, agreed to a deal, put a deposit down expecting a car to be delivered at the price you agreed on. If the dealership are increasing the price 2 months after you placed the order, then tough poop, they can subsidise the cost.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
