I've seen Alor in the flesh. I was all set on it until I saw it. It looks very bright and feminine IMO. I went for silver in the end.
I loved the Arden blue on the old VXR's but Alor looks more like the electric blue that the Mini Cooper S's came in. Nice colour, but a bit too girly for me ;-)

Is there a 'bedding in period' on these cars? I.e. 3,500 max revs for 1k miles

Mine is build wk 43 so hopefully I will get the car early Dec.

Nope drove mine like I stole it, was stage 1 tuned within a week of having it.

Mine is a MY14 which has the turbo that is prone to failure, 18k miles of hard driving and the turbo is brilliant (I check it regular when doing oil changes) where as people who have granny'd there's have had failures.

Not as standard, parking sensors come on when you get close to something by in front though

I'll be running mine in, I assume they don't just put it in the manual for a laugh. When I've had cars that have used a fair bit of oil in the past I've wondered if it was because they weren't run in. No way of knowing for sure of course!

I think the manual says 2/3rds of Max RPM so you've still got 4-5k to play with.

I tend to build it up over the first 1,000 miles and then give it hell from then!

I'm sure they put it in to cover themselves, with the DSG as soon as you put it in Cupra profile it red lines it anyway, it doesn't state don't use cupra profile so think it will be ok

I intended to order the Alor as I love the Lapiz on my Golf R, but it is far lighter which made me hesitate until I saw the Audi equivalent on a Q5 after which it was 100% no way - much too "feminine" for my liking.

As a man who has had a Liquid Yellow Megane R26, that only left the "ID" Dynamic Grey as the default choice.

Whilst biased as I've ordered it, I don't think alor blue is particularly feminine but I'd agree now that it probably isn't the best colour out of the choices available. Still a lot more interesting compared to the white/grey/black boxes going up and down our roads these days

How can a colour be feminine?

If it came with boobs that might be a different matter.

Bit disappointing that there isn't something a bit more garish than the AB to be honest.

Oh man after seeing those pics I am really doubting if I should have picked Monsoon over Dynamic Grey!
I had that thought 1 week after ordering and tried to change it but dealer so it was a no go :-(

I thought most manufacturers let you change the colour once the order was accepted up until a certain build stage..

Really? You would have thought one week after ordering is an acceptable time to be allowed to change your mind on colour. It would definitely be tougher going for me to change colour, mine was supposed to be built last week (not sure if it actually was though)!

I suspect it was extra unwanted effort. Wish i'd asked about flexibility before hand. Lesson learned...

Been told mine will be with me in the next hour, happy days!

Out of interest is everyone getting GAP insurance? If so, can anyone reccomend some good companies to get a quote from? Ideally with initial rental cover as well considering the size of the first payment.

Thanks

Thanks for the GAP info, that was going to be my next question.

I had assumed (for no particular reason) that I'd get a few weeks notice before my car was ready for collection. I'd planned to use that time to sell one of my existing cars. If people are getting one hours notice I think I should draft the advert ASAP!

What happens if you can't take delivery right away?

Just seen you name in the diary with a tick by it, must be a good thing for the feminine car being close 😉
