I can confirm they are on long life service :-) I thought I'd have to have 2 services so quite pleased with that!

I'm amazed they are on long life. The golf R manual states long life is only for cars doing 20k+ miles per year. I also wouldn't have expected them to leave the factory with the more expensive long life oil in them.

Good news.

Here is the facts on the Dynamic Grey paint issue: if your order was not Status 10 (Build week allocated but not confirmed) by the start of this month, then you are getting Nevada White instead unless there is an available build slot for another colour (which there has been for a few).

Apparently, there is no further supplies of DG being ordered if not booked into the system by close on 30 September ie status 10 or 20 (build week confirmed).

Luckily I am at 20 so it won't be effecting mine - feel for the guys that are having this problem.

So I am build week 42 and I am not getting the Dynamic Grey I ordered.

You are build week 44 and you are getting your Dynamic Grey?

Nothing personal but that seems really unfair if it's true! (As happy for you as I am of course!). The whole thing seems a right mess.

Mines on long life, it wanted an oil change at 7k but I changed it at 5k anyway and it wanted its first service at 13k.

Has done several track days including Nurburgring and has been driven hard.

Looks that way, but when did you go to status 10 and 20?

Is your order via a dealer or broker?

Agreed its a bit of a lottery.

I thought the manual said every 12 months or 10,000 miles? If the car is set to long life (a la 2 years), what happens if they lease company turn around and say "you didn't service the car as per the manual" ?

Do you have the manual to hand? Could you post a photo of this please?

I read that the cars leave the factory set to long life and the service schedule is set at PDI by the dealer based on the customers expected usage. This is why I'm amazed they are leaving them as long life on 5k PA leases when all the 10k PA golf Rs I know of were set to variable.

Tbh it doesn't make much difference. Even if you're on variable you can do 1 service on a 24 month deal. You can string the first service along a bit which means even you keep the car the full term the second service will be out with the month agreement.

Services are dirt cheap anyway. I only paid £139. Far cry from AMG prices.

my dealer didn't mention anything about long life when I picked it up on Sunday but said I just follow what the computer says and likely to just be an oil change in the 2 years.

Most people on the VWROC forum report that their leased cars are on a long-life service. It's people who buy via PCP/outright purchases who get put on the flexible/variable service because the dealership tends to do the PDI - whereas these leased cars tend to be PDId at a big centre away from the delaership.

I'm currently averaging 6k pa with the R and plan to hand it back 2 month early. The car was put on a long-life service plan (2 year/20k miles whichever sooner) thus I won't be paying for a service (cancels out the early termination fee plus a potential purchase of 2 tyres).

Whatever the case, as long as you follow the cars service schedule (can be found easily within the infotainment system), then you won't be stung with a service charge when you hand the car back.

I had an unexpected phone call from my local SEAT dealership today as my car is going to be ready next week!

My build week was not until week 43 so I was expecting the car around late Nov/early Dec time. I must have been allocated a cancelled car - happy days!

I ordered through CVL and was week 38 also. Haven't heard a word from them apart from last weeks email saying it was in transit and would be 2-3 weeks.

Think I'll call both CVL and DM Keith tomorrow.

Thanks for the info mate!
