Hi guys

I'm the new forum member and new owner of a 2006 Audi A4 Avant S-Line Special Edition 2.0TFSi Quattro.

The car appears to have been well looked after with 2 previous owners with full details as follows;

115000 miles
Full service history
Cambelt and waterpump and clutch at 103500 miles

Apparently, the weak points on a 2.0 tfsi have been replaced, these included;
New oil pick up
Cam follower
New diverter valve
New pcv
Oil has been changed every 6000 miles for 5w40 fully synthetic oil.

The car drives well, gives good MPG (38mpg over 500 miles this week according to trip) but I have a couple of annoying problems I'd like to get some feedback on .....

- Air con Not Working -
Firstly, when I bought the car the previous owner said the aircon needed re-gassing and I believed him. The car is permanently in econ mode and I had it regassed today but same issue. The garage said there was around 50% gas but zero oil in the compressor and have filled both to correct levels.
The font know if it's a sensor, compressor or evaporator issue.
Fuses check out OK.
Any suggestions very much appreciated as I'm hoping it's not the compressor as I understand these are expensive.

- Front/rear parking sensors not working -
Previous owner said they were intermittent but they seem completely dead with no beeps at all, nothing happens (no LED) or response from the Park Assist button on dash, and not ticking/pulsing from sensors when car put into reverse. Reverse lights work so not an issue with the gear lever sensor.
cant find a fuse fit the parking sensors but wonder if the control unit had failed - any ideas on where this is located on a 2006 Avant?

The only other thing I've noticed is a slight rattle from the engine on start-up which I read is a charecteristic on the TFSi engine, and a very slight stumble from the engine at idle. I

I've read that there were issues with ignition coils on TFSi engines so I'll see if the car was subject to a recall.

Other than that the cars is superb and drives very well, so just want to get the aircon & park sensor issues resolved without spending too much money.

- Engine Remap -
I've heard the TFSi engine re-maps very well and should easily achieve 250hp.
I'm not a boy racer (well past that Smile ) but I do enjoy having power on tap when needed. Is remapping a TFSi with 115k miles risky if it's driven sensibly?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi Giys

Just an update to say that I sorted the aircon issue with the car 😀

I purchased a cheap OBDII plug and used the VCD Lite software to diagnose and open circuit/short on the high pressure sensor so booth a replacme from GSW at £48 with the intention of fitting myself. However, after realising I didn't have the tools or skills to do it I got a local garage to do the work at short notice for just £45.
Turned out that the previous owner had removed the bumber (and re-secured with self-tapping wood screws!!) and removed the high pressure sensor, I,e. It was completely missing.
New one fitted and aircon is now working great - still confused why he went to the trouble of removing the bumper to remove the old sensor and didn't replace it as its a relatively low cost option.

Now just need to fix the parking sensor issue fixed - my system seems completely dead so is there a hidden fuse I should check as all the main ones seem fine and I can't see one specifically for the parking system?

Any thoughts on remapping a high mileage 2.0 TFSI greatly appreciated as I'm considering a DIY Bluefin but a little worried it could have effect reliability, especially if more pressure put on the turbo.

Ps - car booked in to Audi at the end of this month as it looks like the ignition coils are subject to a recall that wasn't actioned on the car - I have a slightly irregular tick-over and cut out when accelerating hard (seems to happen around 2.5k rpm) that I'm hoping may be related to this.

Cheers
