Facelifted RS3

Anyone heard anything about the facelifted RS3? The safe money is that it'll have the engine from the new TT-RS, so 400hp.

But the only vehicles seen out testing have been a saloon body, plus there have been pics of an RS3 saloon shown to Audi brass:



Do we think it'll be replacing the Sportback body style or supplementing?

I'd bet a lot of money on it being a supplement. It would make zero sense to change it to saloon-only. But then I'm not an industry insider so what do I know?

This one is going on sale in the US though, where a saloon would sell better.

Merc don't sell the A45 in the US, only the CLA45 AMG so that's the direct rival.

Surely audi aren't thinking of making the RS3 a saloon...what about the RS4 saloon? Maybe thats going sportback like the RS6?

If your not an insider at audi, who knows.

I'd say it's definitely going to be available as a saloon. The development cars are all saloons.

The question is whether the hatch will continue or not.

I believe the "saloon only" refers to the American market unless somebody has confirmed that the RS3 won't be available as a hatchback in UK/EU. I would find that very surprising but anything is possible in light of the new name, new management and diesel scandal.

Well I stand corrected, just heard from someone that the hatch is coming, but might be up to a year behind the Saloon

I wish Audi would make a 3 door RS3. I'd definitely have one if it was a 3 door hatch. My local Audi dealership had one of the last brand new sport backs in stock a couple of weeks ago in more or less the spec I would have chosen but I still wasn't certain about the 5 doors even after the dealer offering around 8% discount.

Are Audi done, dusted and out of stock on the current sportback RS3 now or are there a few knocking about needing to be shifted i.e. 8% discount or more?!

There are still a few stock cars around in the dealer network, though not great discounts as they're still very desirable.

It depends on who you know and if you are a repeat customer. I was genuinely offered 8% discount and that was without really trying hard. If I would have been seriously interested, I do honestly think I could have got 10% discount.
