Owning the V10 RS6 has always been an itch I wanted to scratch and I've stumbled across 2 examples close by:

1) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...
2) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

I'm keener on the first one due to warranty, FASH and new tyres. I will be using this as my daily so about 80 miles commute every day.
I'm prepared for the fuel and tyre costs but wondering about other costs such as servicing and other consumables such as brakes. Also, is this car reliable assuming I keep it serviced? Any major issues I should be aware of?
Hoping any existing owners could advise.

Hi there,

I'm doing about 40 miles a day in mine -

Tyres - MPSS lasts about 15k miles (£250 per tyre).
Brakes - £200 Pads are about 10k miles and £800 discs are 20k+ miles.
Service - £400 for 10k mile and £650 for 20k service.
Misc - If you don't have a warranty I'd put about £1-2k aside a year for random issues.
Issues - 2 big ones which are age related.

1. There is an 80p seal between the oil pump and engine block which perishes and causes an oil leak at the rear centre of the undertray.
2. There are 2 coolant lines behind the front right wheel (in the arch) which corrode. Once they split the arch liner keep the leak hidden until the engine overheats.

Both of those fixes are expensive to sort (£1500 to £3000+) depending on whether the engine needs dropping (some companies can do both without but Audi will drop it).

Hope that helps!

Thanks Ian, that's very helpful smile I was doing fine up until Misc/Issues, I guess warranty is definitely important on these beasts. Perhaps I would also need someone more mechanically minded to help inspect the car too. Are there any preventative solutions to the 2 major issues listed? Does sound very costly for what seems to be fairly easy to resolve issues.

I've also read about DRC issues, any comments on this?

DRC - Extremely rare for there to be any issues. Occasionally a single strut may leak but it's rare.
Warranty - Definitely get a warranty, even the "little" jobs can very easily wrack up £1k+ bills so it's well worth the cost of the warranty.
Issues - Both are 1 time fixes, they are age related rather than mileage so once fixed it'll be another 5-10 years before they will be seen again.
Mechanic - Absolutely get someone to check it over. At the very least get any car scanned with VCDS for error codes.

Thanks again smile Any warranties that you'd recommend?

TBH Audi's own is pretty good, not many people choose an alternative but I had one direct from the car dealer done by CarCarePlan called Formula X which was no quibble until the 900hp conversion biggrin

Audi warranty provider has changed in the last 12 months - new warranties taken out are via VWFS rather than Mondial who were the provider when we took ours out. The Mondial one can be renewed for existing customers, but not sure it's renewable after a sale?

The Mondial one wasn't bad value but the VWFS one appears more expensive for the same cover

Not very relevant to the OP but I have been looking online at Audi S8's for sale in the £10K to £15K price range ( currently have an A8 4.2 ). Admittedly the cars appear to have higher mileages than yours but you can get a 2006/7/8 car for less than £15K which made your 2 S6 estates seem rather expensive.

Thanks again all. From experience taking out extended warranty with the manufacturer is often very costly.
Glad I did some research though as otherwise the man maths could blow a big hole in my wallet.
