Would you buy a red Aston?

I'm in the market for an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster.....there are a few about but they are mainly different shades of silver...or black.
I've been drawn to one that is in Grange Aston Martin Birmingham, however, it's red, or rather a metallic ruby colour which I quite like....( I've tried to upload a photo of it but I can't seem to get it to work)...but with one eye on depreciation and saleability when I'm planing to sell it in a couple of years time will being red hinder it? So,
Is red a Ferrari colour and not desirable on any other car?
Would you prefer a more sedate silver or grey if buying an Aston?
Is red too flash for an Aston maybe?

But that's not the sort of red for a sports car in my view. It's the sort of red you'd choose as a pensioner looking for a sensible little runabout from a Korean manufacturer.
Is it too flash for an Aston? No.
That is stunning. Buy it.
I don't get the number of Astons that are black, silver or monotonous grey/sliver. Case in point is Aston Martin Cheltenham.
Every car on display is dull. Why???
Compare that to the Bentley showroom next door whose window display is extremely colourful - with a banana yellow BMW Z4 M Coupe taking centre stage in the middle!

In fact I'd probably go for brown at the moment as I have a thing about brown cars right now.
The metallic reds (Toro, Volcano and a few rarer ones) look fantastic on Astons. For me the solid reds don't suit them so well but who cares? Buy the car for yourself and enjoy every second of ownership. Never buy a car for the next owner. If I haven't owned a red Vanquish before I die my life will have been a failure.
When I searched for my AMV8 Roadster I looked for anything but black, silver and white.........BORING!!! Being in Arizona, NO black interior. Want fried backs of legs from seats? It's a sports car. Go for color. Found a nice blue (denim) 2010 with blue/tan interior...classy. You have to ask yourself: Why are there so many Black, silver and white ones on the market? Because the owners found out they hate the color and want to dump them!
As a Red owner, nothing wrong with it. But better to see the car in person as dealers take awful photos and reds don't take pics too well. Even on some computer screens this can make a difference.
I get comments a lot of the time saying "that's different, you usually see them in silver and grey". In Fire Red, which is this version I've never in the UK seen another in the same colour. The Vantage suits it but the DB9 for instance I don't think it does.

Being the owner of a Toro Red DB9 Volante (having been warned 'that's not really an Aston colour, sir) for the last 2.5yrs, I can assure you it IS the right thing to buy. I think there is a sea-change of opinion over the colour of Astons as the ownership demographic lowers. My own "tame AML Tech" says they despair when another car comes into the workshop in the usual "50 shades of grey" - he and his colleagues invest far more love into it because it is Toro.
Wherever we take it, EVERYONE says the same: "what a wonderful colour - AND it's an Aston"!
The thing about Aston reds is that they are deep and soulful, change colour with the light (and I think with my mood;-). I don't think a solid red like a Ferrari or Porsche would work but Toro, Volcano etc are gorgeous deep, classy, sophisticated reds.
AMOC brought the new DB9 GT to Brands last week in a deeper red (poss Volcano) than my 9 and it was much admired by everyone - especially the AMOC Team.
The marketing of both the Vanquish and new Zagato are red.
RED IS THE FUTURE my friend.
Leave silver and grey to Christian and his girlies. ;-)
