The Audi S3 lease thread
Discussion
think i will wait for the R to get the virtual dash and a 7spd box, i chose my current golf over the s3 back in march but the appeal of virtual cockpit and 7spd has twigged my interest!
I'm very disappointed though for the cost of the s3 you don't even get parking sensors! the golf came with heated seats parking sensors adaptive cruise etc etc

Thanks for posting some pics. Exact car I'm waiting on, colour looks lovely
Anyone else who is still waiting had their builds pushed back? Mine was showing first week of Jan but has now been moved to the end of Feb Bit of disappointment.
I received an update from Select today to say mine is still due early December (S tronic saloon). I ordered on 14th September and have still been told that the dealer won't be providing a tracking number. I think our orders have possibly gone to different dealers. exactly what i said.. the R i have come out of, seats were a million times better.. :/
How are you settling in with it a week in?Matt
done 250 miles, mostly in traffic lol. Had a few opportunities to open it up, makes a lovely sound and the pops around 3500rpm when you're off the throttle are nice, but subtle. Still doesn't 'feel' as quick as the golf - hoping it will loosen up a bit. Current Status: Like
Interior:
Getting used to the seats - they are not great but they are also not terrible. Interior is lovely generally, feels years ahead of the R for me. Not as many cubby holes as the R, i miss the flap down tray on the right of the steering wheel, that's where i used to keep my cash/phone/cards. You will have an urge to put your phone in the cup holders - don't. It'll be constantly smashing around in there and its not 'soft' so it makes an annoying noise every time you turn a corner, brake or accelerate. Current Status: Like
MMI system:
Needlessly complicated - i will concede that maybe it's still me getting used to it but this is the only car ever i have had to reach for the manual, golf is intuitive and you 'get it', it makes sense and everything is where you expect it. - Current status: Don't Like.
Launch control:
Done it once - much better than the golf - feels more urgent and the initial lift off is noticeably quicker. Current Status: Like
MPG:
its showing 22mpg but like i said, majority of my miles have been short and trafficy - it is a lot easier to get to 40mpg when on a run than the R - i think with some concentration you could get 45-50. Current Status: Like
Massive Hate:
When on a motorway, doing 60-80ish, if you floor it (kickdown) the exhaust farts, gearbox takes a second the kickdown then there is another second lag and then you're off - it is really annoying, others have said the same so i don't have a duff one - this needs to be addressed because, to me, it is clearly not right. Current status: I want to find the guy who thought this was a good 'feature' and set him on fire in front of his family.
Anything else in particular you wanted to know?

I'm coming from a BMW 330d GT, so whilst not slow, is no where near as focused as the R. So I guess I'll have a different perception to you on some of those points. I'm looking forward to it.
Hello chaps,
Finally due to take delivery this week after some delays on Audi's side.
How's everyone finding theirs? Anything particularly different from the Golf R that I should be aware of?
To add, Direct Line originally wanted to charge me £170 in additional premium, until I put in a new quote through their system which came out just slightly more than the Golf's annual premium! Called them back and they managed to find some discount. However, worth noting that if you're changing your car, run through some online quotes (particularly with your current insurer) so you're not charged an arm and a leg in AP!

got slaughtered by a 14 plate 7R in my 310 S3 from 40+ - i had my lardy mate in the passenger seat and was running on 95 ron fuel due to a panic fill up on xmas day. thats what i keep telling myself anyway. Finally due to take delivery this week after some delays on Audi's side.

there are only a few things i prefer about the S3, other than that the R was a better car all round.
Had my 3 door S3 since September 2016 and lovin it. Went for the tiptronic box and Daytona grey metallic with the bose stereo upgrade. Really happy with the car. The only minor gripe is that if you slow right down, say to turn at a junction, the auto start/stop occasionally kicks in and the power steering fails. Not sure if the timing of this can be delayed slightly which would resolve the issue.
I have tried launch control a couple of times, but in all honesty i think its more of a gimmick - you're hardly likely to use this in everyday driving!
I generally just leave the car in dynamic mode and live with 25 - 30 mpg and the ability to 'shuffle on demand'

I have that gripe too.... if you coast to a junction and theres nothing coming you go to turn the steering wheel and its dead, a touch of the throttle fires the engine back up but jeeez.. give me a chance!I have tried launch control a couple of times, but in all honesty i think its more of a gimmick - you're hardly likely to use this in everyday driving!

what about the 'floor it at 50' fart and lag ?
i have nano grey with the auto box as well - great car apart from these two issues (and parking sensors/folding mirrors as extras!)
i have mine on individual which is basically everything in dynamic except the steering which is in comfort - found it a little notchy on motorways and was constantly correcting in a straight line...

I've just had confirmation from Select that my order has been accepted. Was told that Wednesday was the last day to get orders in, don't know if anyone else was told this. For reference I went for an S3 sportback s-tronic on 3 + 23 at £330 inc metallic and on 10k a year.
I'm looking at doing a personal lease of an S3 Sportback and the cheapest i can find is a std car for £335/month incl vat for a 9+23 at 10,000mls/yr.There are some very low prices being quoted on here, see above, so either they are not quoting prices with vat included or i'm missing something??

i'm paying £343 inc vat for 3x23 6000mpa with maintenance and tyre cover for a 5 door Nano-grey DSG 310 sportback

Question: Other half has a 64 plate S3 DSG 5DR - it's only got the 6 speed box and hasn't got virtual dash. She's just touched 45k in hers - would it be worth changing for a facelift with a 7spd DSG box?
the dash is extra, around £1300 iirc - the 7th gear is good, knocks it down to 2000rpm at 80mph but the ROI for you would be about 700 years i think? Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
