Hi All

Firstly let me say thank you to all of those who have contributed to this thread, I have been watching/reading from a far and manged to grab one of the Gti’s on offer. To be different I went for a white one (!) with a DSG gearbox. Really happy with the car as its comfortable and feels really powerful when you give it a bit of a thrash, not that I ever do I drive round in Eco mode majority of the time. A great all-rounder really.

Can I ask a couple of question to the members?

Firstly when does the deposit usually get taken, I went direct and not through a broker.

Secondly what has everyone been averaging MPG wise, I drive round extremely economically, coast to lights etc and I have had 33mpg at best combined. I know there was a post saying on here saying they were getting just under 40 MPG when driving “urban”. I only have 1,000 miles on the clock at the moment so maybe still bedding in however is it possible to drive to economically and for it to go the other way i.e I had a theory because I am gentle on the throttle then it takes me longer to get up into 5th and 6th that I am actually using more fuel. Just a thought anyway! Besides I knew what I was getting anyway, economy wasn’t really a huge part in the decision process as it’s a brilliant car with loads of features. Just thought I would try and get some feedback on it.

Thanks Again!

I've just hit 2500 miles on mine and my commute is 25 mile round trip with around 10 miles of it driving through Liverpool City Centre during rush hour, I average 31MPG which isn't bad I don't think. Long term average of 28 though which still doesn't bother me!

Anyone else noticed the SD card holder, or possibly reader? In the little compartment to the right of the steering wheel? Seems an odd place to have it!

I'm getting high 30's somehow....? Mixture of city and long distance. I'm around 600 miles on the clock so far.

My long term avg over 1700 miles is 35 and regularly see 38/39 when trying i can almost hit 40. In town traffic it does come right down as you'd expect.

Mixture of driving, mainly in normal or eco. Mine is a DSG too - is your airconditionimg switched on?

My initial payment was taken about two weeks after delivery, I went direct with a dealer.

How's everyone getting on with the keyless entry? I have keyless on my other car and it's really easy, I just really seem to struggle with locking the Golf? Seems very hit and miss and I end up reverting to the key.

Are you just touching the outside of the door handle only or are you trying to hold handle and lock with your thumb? If so you are probably inadvertently trying to unlock at same time?

Just been using my thumb to rub over/press the little notched bit on the outer part of the door handle, maybe I just need some more practice.

Hi all,

Mine's arrived and is already filthy. Earlier today I was cold and tired and the car was very inviting. Heated seats were great to have as standard; the stereo is great, too. And the car is quick out of the box, and surprisingly, I'm still not sure I hate the piped engine sound (though having eco/sport modes for that seems bit odd!!).

I'm having the same issue with the keyless locking - the first couple of times it was great, and the last couple of times I've used the passenger door it's great, but the drivers door doesn't seem that great - I'll bear with it, but for now, I'm mostly reverting to using the key fob. The handiness of keyless entry and keyless go is pretty good though!!!

Keyless unlock and lock working great for me, touch the inside of the door handle to unlock, touch the outside on the little notch to lock, works every time.

Only time I use the keyfob is when I'm at the boot.

Why do you use the keyfob for the boot? It opens as well without using the key

To lock the car without walking over to the door

ref VW and MPG claims they are a little over zealous on these as we know ;-)

if you want mpg then buy a diesel. petrol is for enjoying

I just got one of the Seat Cupra 290 black edition 5 dr manual on a stupid cheap lease. picked it up and its a cracking car as a daily. and for £157 per month for 10k miles per year for 2 or 3 years then its stupid cheap.

great bang for the buck. nice spec from standard too with bucket seats, heated seats, folding mirrors, nav, sloppy diff, titanium exhaust, plenty of horses , USB and synch with phone, xenons with follow corner lighty things, 19 inch lightweight wheels with half decent rubber and good brakes.

Don't want to get off topic on this GTI thread, but that's a great deal. Is it a recent one and if so, where did you find it?

You hardly have to touch it, certainly not rub or stroke it. I have found a very gentle touch does it nicely...

www.vehiclesavers.com

ask for jack snare. good lad.

those deals have gone as it was the last of the pre facelift stock.

they are doing the new 300 bhp facelift for £180 plus VAT. https://www.vehiclesavers.com/car-leasing/seat/leo...

5k miles for that one. if you go to 10k per annum its still under £250 per month with just over £2k down. won't get that from the dealer. it will be double. I know as I got a quote.
