First post just to say thanks for the forum really and espically for those that shared the deal on the lease thread. Car arrived on the 30th Dec, had been looking at mk5 GTI much to the annoyance of my partner... She found them a tad old and hated the alloys, then this deal popped up, great motor espically from a 2002 plate focus 1.6...
Sounds smart, goes well! 45mpg recorded on a 30 mile motorway trip on acc mode @ 70ish. 30mpg round town for those that dont have theirs yet.
No problem at all. In many ways I'm glad I started the thread myself for the excess mileage issues that happened midway through the process, now solved of course.Sounds smart, goes well! 45mpg recorded on a 30 mile motorway trip on acc mode @ 70ish. 30mpg round town for those that dont have theirs yet.
Enjoy!
Still loving the car though haven't driven it much as I'm at work but it just seems like a well screwed together quality bit of kit! Just a quick question regarding the paymemt , had a letter from VWFS today confirming the 95 quid a month and saying that they will take the 3142 deposit later this month. At what stage and how do we get the cash back to make it 2400 deposit ?

Mine was payed into my bank account by the dealer. Haven't had the £3142 sucked out of my account yet even though I had a letter from VWF saying it would be taken yesterday.Leasenewbie123 said:
Nice write up - I'm convinced the exhaust sound in mine has improved with miles.
Interesting. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried a three year old GTI PP with 18k on the clock today, seemed much more throaty than a new one I tried last year. Made it a much more characterful car. You could actually hear the turbo too. Metty53 said:

I've never driven one but I'm guessing the exhaust sound will improve overnight at about 19,998 miles or 2yrs just in time for handing it back SpeedBash said:
I should be picking my car up on Tuesday.
With all the grungy weather lately, I'm thinking of getting a set of cheap mats to cover the ones that come with the car to protect them till the weather gets better.
For those who have already got their car - is it worth doing this?
I wouldn't bother. With all the grungy weather lately, I'm thinking of getting a set of cheap mats to cover the ones that come with the car to protect them till the weather gets better.

Some pics of my car that arrived this morning...early impressions...nicely put together and not far off golf r speeds minus the traction.
Few bad points, the rear view mirror seems to have been streamlined and the glovebox has lost its lock.
and the car its replacing

My mini JCW lease was collected by fleet services or something yesterday so just got the golf now.
First handover I have ever done, he took a pic of a slight curb on the alloy but that's it no other fault mentioned so not really sure of the charge for the alloy, as they act on behalf of Alphabet

I love the new mirror, as per the new Passat and Tiguan. I will be really happy if my GTD Estate turns up with that mirror next month! (had assumed it was reserved for Mk7.5)Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
