Not great news from my broker today.

After trying my best to resist, ignore this thread, not log onto "my Audi" and ignore all the talk of engine shortages/VED increases and July delivery's, I failed dramatically on all of them.biggrin

Called (caved in) a couple of days ago, and the response to my build date being 10th April and the VED effect is that Audi have mistakenly taken too many orders for the UK S5, this has pushed delivery dates to, where they are. (So no promise that they'll dramatically bounce back)

Also what's to be done with the additional VED when these cars are registered after April 1st is still up in the air, Audi, and therefore my broker are awaiting a decision from "The head of Audi UK" as they are aware it's their fault they have taken on too many orders, but no decision has been made yet, this is a UK wide issue, I was told.

So it may be that some of you that have it guaranteed, the broker/dealer has just decided they'll write off the 750 if it happens, or whatever, I'm not sure, but it appears Audi have messed up a bit.

Although, this may be all crap and my broker might just be eyeing up an additional 750 from me!
this might explain why my local Audi dealer has been so slow at responding to anything, they seem to be making it hard for me to buy a car from them, perhaps they are under instruction to slow down...!
Or he's aware of the uncertainty at the moment and doesn't want to go through the process only to give you a, "Emm, can you pop back in, things have changed" call.

Just emailed rep at Audi dealer, asking whether there is delays, if they are taking orders and why configurator is showing red only!

Response as follows
"'In terms of production the reason you can only add certain colours to particular models is there is an issue with the configurator which Audi UK are in the process of fixing. Following a further conversation with Audi UK there is only going to be limited production of these vehicles however you can still place an order against the New Audi S5 & S4 currently (lead time of 12-14 weeks)"

I doubt the 12-14 weeks - I am going to get my order in, even though I don't need until end of July

It's about 12 weeks until mine is due to be built and it was ordered in November!

Yes, I think Audi are being a little optimistic with their 12-14 week estimate. I full expect that if even if I order this weekend, I will be looking at end of July or even later..the wait will kill me.....!

Also, the S4 and S5 can only be specced in red on the configurator now which is odd.
I noticed on the Android app that the S5 Sportback can't now be ordered with red leather (Only grey or black)

It's probably to do with the configurator problem mentioned before, as it can also only be ordered with a red exterior according to the configurator!

Today I have sat in a UK right-hand drive registered S5 sport back.............

I was really lucky, my father had to be driving down a road not far from me when he spotted three car transporters in a layby, loaded with new Audi's. Knowing that I had got on on order and that I haven't sat in one yet he did a U-turn and called into the layby to have a closer look.
It transpires that these 3x double-decker transporters were loaded with a mixture of S-line and S5 sport back 2017 cars and with there for a press launch. think they may have been five cars in each level of each transporter, but to be honest I didn't count.
I got the call from him late afternoon and jumped in the car to go have a look myself. The guys were just finishing loading up the transporters and about to head home, but they were kind enough to open up a couple of the cars and let me sit in one and look around another.

I got to sit in a white S5 with grey leather, it looked to be fully loaded with upgraded sound and summary as well as the carbon interior. I also got closely look around a black S5 although that one was not so good and sit in it. I must admit I love the look of them. Struggled however to easily spot the difference between an S5 and S-line especialhy since the S-line had upgraded wheels.

The press launch was being held at a place called Ayno House, it was going on all day yesterday and all day today. If I had only been a bit earlier I could have got the trip round the block in one as the delivery guys were moving them around and taking them from one place to another.
I didn't want to push my luck by taking lots of photos, to be honest they really would show you any more than you can see on the Internet, but it was really good to see that UK production, right-hand drive Sportback S5s do actually exist.

My father also spotted another one further down the road with a camera crew taking loads of pictures, so I suspect we should see some UK reviews in the very near future.

York Audi have a black sportback S5. The manager let me look at it in the compound last weekend, though he said he wasn't supposed to ahead of today's launch. Looked nice in black, though it didn't have the standard s5 wheels and looked worse for it. It's in the showroom this weekend, going to have a look, will post some pictures

Oh I will have to go too. Any idea which black? What colour seats? And did they order it with non standard wheels or retro fit them?

Dealer said it was the metallic black, needed a good clean to be honest. I didn't clock the seat colour, he wouldn't let me get too close to it! The coupe I drove at the weekend had the grey seats which were much nicer, and darker than I had expected. He said he didn't understand why it had come with different wheels, ' they just come as they come' . Have looked on Audi options and can't see same style of wheel. Prefer the standard ones though. He also had a grey ( even he didn't know which if the greys!) 2.0 tfsi with the 19 inch ultispoke wheels, option PRI on the price list. Looked great too!

Are you near york Tom, did I see you are also going for Navarro blue sportback? I may have to change my colour lol!

I'm near Scarborough, and at the moment it's black but looking to swap it to misano red if and when the broker gets on with getting me a price. I am inclined to ring JCT up directly and see if they can do it since the broker doesn't really need to do anything now he has got his fee.

And there aren't any options for wheels on the S5 yet. But interestingly here is an S4 with S5 wheels (near identical S5 at the same dealer here for reference) when the S4 cannot be ordered with them wheels according to the configurator. Some similar looking wheels but not identical like these.

EDIT, I am wrong they are the similar wheels, they looked the same from the main pic. How similar they are makes me wonder what the point in having different ones is! I do prefer the S4 ones slightly but they are a £1k plus option on that car.

they had a red sportback in the compound too, not sure what model, I didn't look closely, it was tucked away. Might not be on display at the weekend, but sure they will let you have a look. My experience of jct York so far has been underwhelming

Closest wheel I can find to the one s on the black s5 are the 18 inch 5 spoke that comes as an option on the sport model, 'CEO' in the price list. But that would make no sense. Will have a good look at the weekend.

I have found the same, I had an S4 for 3 and a bit years from them and I didn't particularly think they were great at any point during the ownership of the car, whether it be the service/warranty or the way they were when I considered trading it in with them. Since then I have found myself in a position where if I am there they only approach me when I am on my way out of the door which I don't like. I don't like being hassled either but a "can I help you" when walking in would be nice.

I think it must be that the cars sell themselves so they don't have to try.
