The S5 lease thread

Are these prices including or excluding VAT?
I'm looking at placing an order for an S5 lease and I've been quoted £338/month (9+23) excluding VAT - works out to around £405 inc. VAT. That's for base without any extras. How is that looking compared to the deals done here?

Just spotted another couple of YouTube videos that I don't think of being listed here previously - both are of white cars sat in showrooms. I never quite seen the appeal of the sort of YouTube videos, but having had quite a bit of talk about white recently I thought it was worth posting them.

It does give you some idea of the exhaust note.
Thanks. I had spotted these videos before. I was one of the people who ordered the car in white, but am considering changing it to brilliant black. IMO the white looks very nice in these videos. I have seen a black (admittedly metallic paint) S4/A5 sportback in the showroom, and they look great. I have also seen a S5 sportback in white and I felt it did not have the same wow factor - however this was a demo car and thus had been driven about and was parked outside, and therefore will invariably look worse than a showroom car.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEj3RKChSAs&fe...

I'm still trying to decide. I have always vowed to never buy a black car again due to the difficulty in maintaining it. I have had white before too, and I feel it requires less maintenance. I am similar to others in that I will take the car to the local car wash, maybe 3-4 times/year.
I think I will ultimately have to flick a coin and decide!

I do Nick, but no movement yet. Must be the nightshift starting on mine?
What about yours? Still showing 20th Feb?
Yeah mine's still showing as the 20th too. At least ours aren't Monday morning builds!!! lolWhat about yours? Still showing 20th Feb?
As I posted above, I've been told mine should be 2nd or 3rd week of March to arrive at the dealer.

Do you mind me asking what your build date was? Mine is 6th March, so trying to get an idea of how long after that it might arrive in Uk... Cheers!
Not sure what the build date was all I know is I ordered it mid November.I think I will definitely be getting the car dechromed from all the videos I have seen of the Ibis White. Think it will look far better. A side question i was told by the broker that the finance company were paying for the road tax. Is that the case with everyone elses??

Any more news on yours yet, Nick?

Good news for you then mate. Hopefully mine is a similar timescale. I just want it before the end of March to avoid the increase in VED.As I posted above, I've been told mine should be 2nd or 3rd week of March to arrive at the dealer.
As to the tracker, mine is still showing as 'order received' but I do remember with my Golf R that the tracker missed the first few stages at this point in the build week and jumped forwards a couple of stages. I'm therefore wondering if it's the same with the Audi...

Re: exhausts this used to happen on my 335i. Once it warms a tad a gate opened and both sides were pukka. Could be the same on the s5?
I think this is quite common, I can't remember if it was to do with emissions or noise control, but I certainly experienced it on a handful of cars.My last M3 (E92 v8) did exactly the same thing, you can even see one side of the exhaust picked up more sort/carbon than the other side, but there was a mod that you could do to leave the valves open all the time and generally give a better noise to the car. I have exactly the same on my 360, the workaround was really easy, just a matter of playing a couple of cables running into the top of the exhaust and then it sounded so much better.
Simon did you not notice the Golf R prioritises the middle two? The S5 does have 4 genuine exhausts though!

Not sure if I like it in white, but I do like the Quattro Rotor wheels (shown in the second video) over the Cavo wheels though.I'm still trying to decide. I think I might sound a little bit stupid here, but what is VCDS?
VCDS is the diagnostic software for VW's that allows you to change certain parameters within the car/ECU. It basically connects via the OBDII port on the car...Does anyone know if the exhaust our can be programme this way? - And then the next question is who could do it and what sort of costs would be involved?
I guess my only concern would be what this does to a warranty - I'm assuming it might well invalidate it, if so probably not wise to do.

Yes, I would love to know as well. Last year I had an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, I bought a little remote control switch for that which basically plugged into the fuse board and allow me to switch the exhaust valves from open to close whenever unwanted, if anyone can find out if the values do exist and are connected to a single fuse then the same system would work for this one, I still have the details of the guy I bought the switch system from which memory was about £70 and took five minutes to install.
Those remote "kits" are a simple remote controlled relay. £7 of ebay....Alot of people have VCDS or as it was known VAGCOM around the country and alot of forums have threads dedicated to people stating where they live and if they would be willing to carry out changes for people. (usually for a few beers).
It does not invalidate warranty, but changes have been reset on occasion when a car goes back into dealer for service and they carry out an update on the ecu to fix problems etc so might need someone to redo the changes you have.
My S3 took about 2 mins to change the exhaust. One thing I will be carrying out is to enable the lane detection when I pick mine up as UK cars have pre-sense city camera built in and this can be carried out.

Please keep me posted if this works.. sounds like a great mod if it does!. Also please let us know.about progress on exhaust.
