Hi all, i know its been asked to death, just sold my PCP 335d frown and was going to get GAP for the new S5. Being my first lease, do you just insure the total payments (around 12k) and I imagine its worth insuring the deposit. Seems ALA is pretty good as my current provider car2cover don't offer initial rental cover. 15k cover and 3k deposit is 150 quid @ ALA with 10% off- any good?

My S5 coupe arrives on Wednesday and I also purchased contract hire GAP from ALA this being my first lease as well. £25,000 limit and £3,000 in respect of the initial payment, which is slightly less than I'm paying, but at £87.40 for 2 years cover I'm not complaining too much.

Obtained quote for £105 from here;

https://totallossgap.co.uk/

Asked ALA to beat this price by 20% of the difference between their price of £193 and £105 as per the best price guarantee. Therefore £193 - £105 = £88 x 20% = £17.6 and £105 - £17.6 = £87.40.

There was no quibble from them either.

Yes, didnt really make much sense.
I have read many reviews and they all vary from 3.5 to 4.5+ stars. I have always thought that there is a bias toward another similar model depending on which journalist and mag you read. There is a YouTube video you should watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDFdkmW-GCk although he is a brash Aussie who likes the sound of his own voice too much, he actually makes a lot of sense. His advice is good in that asking others who own one is best, and don't take the reviews as red. With this in mind it maybe well worth starting a new thread for other new buyers at some point, and for anyone encountering new A5/S5 problems, and their general opinions in owning one......got to be the best and most honest reviews ever.

Ok so just spoke to Audi again and my car has landed in the UK today!

This was a car with 20th Feb Build date, so I am guessing everyone with this build date will be in the same positon as me.

She said there was around 60 cars on the boat, mine is yet to be taken off however should be done either today/tomorrow.

Once that is done they can make it priority and give a date of when it arrives at dealer.

I say about 2 weeks until delivery now.

Mine might be there too. Was due to be built on the 13th but the tracker has said it's been in quality control since then. I'm guessing the tracker is just slow to update!

Was yours ordered via Sheffield Audi? If so do you have a tel number for them?

That really is good news for you, you must be really getting excited now.

It's really encouraging news for all of us that have Feb 6th build dates. - sounds like yours is taken exactly a week to go from production start through to arriving in the UK ( albeit not unloaded yet). Please do keep us posted, if it does take just two weeks from now until your car is registered then in theory my car (and anyone else who has 6th build date) might just get registered before the increased TAX cost.

I double checked again with Audi this morning and my car is definitely still scheduled for 6th to begin production.

Most likely it will be.

Yes was placed at sheffield. call 0114 282 5344 and ask to speak to the fleet department. then you just need to give your order number.

Just spoken to them myself. Mine is built and "waiting for a boat"

It could wait 14 days for a boat she tells me, very busy time at the moment as you would imagine. We will see.

Seems the tracker talks a load of tosh! smile

EDIT: Checked the tracker and its just jumped to QC.

Well my 20th of Feb build has jumped all the way to quality control now. It was still showing order received status on Sunday. Let's hope they don't have the same fiasco that they had in Emden with the Golf R's leaving the compound for the boat (My car was pushed to the back by cars built later than mine and sat there for weeks and weeks...)

Hi all,

So I have had my S5 Coupe for 1 week now and though I'd post a quick review of my initial thoughts.
I chose an S5 as I wanted a powerful yet "business" looking vehicle and I feel it delivers on both sides.

Looks wise, the exterior is great and there's no need to worry about the chrome finish (I went for brilliant black). The lines on the car are really striking and I've had nothing but positive comments about the look of the car. I would confidently say that the online pictures of these cars really don't do them justice. The car has a mild aggressive look front the front and side which is then re-enforce with the quad pipes at the back.

The interior is where I have spent most of my time and I think it's phenomenal. I have been in a lot of high end cars and I think Audi have absolutely nailed the interior (I went for black). Again I've had so many comments on how great the interior looks and all of the features (heated seats, massage functions, smart-phone interface etc) - I really have no complaints.
I think I'm probably the one guy who didn't order VC and after playing with it on another S5 I don;t feel like I've missed out - Just to re-assure anyone else in my situation.

Performance:
The car delivers great performance combined with a lovely audible sound - Not 'really' loud but enough to let people know it's a serious car. As expected, when you select S mode the car really comes alive and the exhaust burbles more, which is probably why I stay in S mode!
Acceleration is great and the 4 wheel drive makes the car feel like it's on rails. Obviously I'm not pushing the car too hard but I've definitely opened it up enough to give some credible feedback.

Gearbox:
A mild judder in low gears but nothing too noticeable - Really smooth and responsive gear changes. The paddles are perhaps a tad small but not to the point I need to extend them.

One thing a lot of people want to know is what the MPG is like. My "long term" reading is 18.0 MPG which is likely down to the excitement of having a new quick car and spending a lot of time in S mode. I imagine once I'm over the initial thrill of owning the car then the MPG will sit at early to mid 20's.
Being completely honest, I didn't consider MPG when looking at a performance vehicle as I expected it to be poor. I don't think any vehicle manufacturer comes close to what they claim online and the best I have had so far is 23MPG which involved 14 miles of motorway.

I could write tons about the car as I think it's superb and it has far exceeded my expectations. It's my first Audi but I'm already thinking "future cars" RS models etc.

I have no regrets and there's nothing else out there for the money that comes close IMO.

It's a 5/5 for me and for those sat waiting, be patient as you won't be disappointing.

Thanks for your positive feedback. The MPG worries me a little bit, but that said mine will mainly be used at weekends. I considered the VC over the normal cockpit, but having the nav in the cockpit and other functions like music etc visible on the 'tablet' at the same time made me decide it was well worth the extra £250.00. I recon now that people are getting their deliveries through, this feedback needs another thread.

On the test drive I had I averaged about 38 mpg on a mix of A and B roads over say 15/20 mile journey. I had my fun then reset the computer and drove the car back to the dealer sensibly.

They must have given you one with a block.under the accelerator or a dodgy computer haha! I have just done a 95 miles motorway trip and sitting in efficiency mode at 75mph on cruise control it was averaging 32mpg... as soon as I go into towns or any fun a roads I am mid 20s at best.... my long term average at 1150 miles is 19.1mpg.
