The S5 lease thread

Why would you need £25k? the total outlay on my car including the deposit is around just under £11,000 - I then paid for my couple of extras separately which took then to just over £11,500. I opted for the recommended £15,000 cover which therefore would cover any amount of final payment due even if the car disappeared off the drive within a week. Am I missing something?
If you look at the ALA website and put in all the details for the S5 it comes up and says the 'recommended' cover is £25k. I agree it is high but if you are getting them to price match TLG (Which I did) then it pushes the price of the ALA insurance up and seeing as ALA beat the difference in price by 20% of the difference then it worked in my favour to lower the overall price further. Does that make sense?Just to add to that...
TLG insurance = £105
ALA will beat any quote by 20% of the difference so:
ALA with £10k cover = £167 (Difference of £62, 20% of difference is £12.40, £105 - 17.60 = £92.60)
ALA with £10k cover = £170 (Difference of £65, 20% of difference is £13.00, £105 - 13.00 = £92.00)
ALA with £25k cover = £193 (Difference of £88, 20% of difference is £17.60, £105 - 17.60 = £87.40)
Now do you see why I did it for £25k?

Just sorted my insurance and GAP insurance ready for tomorrow. A big thank you to Mactrack for his earlier post on GAP insurance and how to get ALA to price match and beat totallossgap.co.uk (£87.40 all in)
I need to say thank you very much as well, I use the same system to get my GAP insurance in place ready for next week. Just trying to decide if I want to include the deposit within the insurance or just go for the basic cover which means that it goes right down to something like £55 for the two years.Hope no one on here gets caught out with the next tale of woe from Audi;

My S5 is still at order status 38 'audi has left Ingolstadt' and had been that way since 18th march. It had build date of 13th march.
Anyone else with build date same at mine have the same timelines? It's been a week and a half and it seems to be stuck now.

Exactly the same dates for build etc.
Started to stalk ships docking at Emden.
So tonight I acquired ETKA (the VAG parts catalogue) as I wanted to identify a few parts on my Golf that need replacing.
But had to have a rat about in the A5....
So to possibly try and answer some questions we have all been discussing I have found the following:
There are definitely two types of rear diffuser according to ETKA, one of them specific to one model code the other specific to a few. No pics to differentiate them as they are just the same number on a drawing with two different part numbers. Unfortunately the model codes mean nothing to me but it appears one goes on lots of different things and one goes on one. That is unless there is one on there for the 3.0tdi that will probably have exhausts at both sides.
The speaker thing in the back is described as a "bass box" so must work with the audio system.
But there is a soundaktor type device in the A5 (not sure if it's all A5s it certain models like the S5 etc) as I found that. But it didn't show where it was so wi have to have a better look another time.
And the exhausts do have valves in them with electric actuators so that may be an avenue to pursue along with disconnecting the soundaktor.
Not very informative I'm afraid I'll try and get some more info when I have more time. If anyone has anything else they want me to look up let me know.

Spoke with FS yesterday and informed them that if my monthly payments increase by more than £10 I will be cancelling the car (I didn't pay a fee).
It's not about the money so much, more the principle. They have said they will chase up and get back to me, so we'll see what happens!
If anyone has their VIN shown on finanace docs etc. Head over to myaudi (not youraudi) and register. Add in the VIN and you can start the audiconnect process. Of course as mentioned you need the car to finish process and that code on the key. But you can see manual and lots of other things

Further to this you can get the VIN as soon as it is built, if you log in to youraudi and extract the JSON info it shows you the VIN near the bottom (note you need to be logged into yourAudi first). I connected mine to myAudi while it was at Emden!Darren-b said:

Is there an a apple app for this as well?Mine has arrived at the dealer - last. The your Audi tracker has updated to say the car is that the dealer ready ( although I know from speaking to them that it's not actually ready yet).
It's a schedule for delivery on the morning of Tuesday April 4th.
For anyone still waiting for their cars to come through the system and the more recent orders, mine was a build date of March 6th. It actually started assembly on Wednesday 1st March and according to the tracker was through quality control by the end of 6th March.
It sat in the docks for around 5/6 days before it moved across the UK.
So it has taken almost exactly one month from start of construction to being ready at the dealer for delivery.
I must admit I have pestered the dealer with polite chasing emails, I don't think it really made any particular difference to the speed of the process.

And same here, although I had a build date of 6th March. Car spent 2 wks in QC and now 10+ days on route to Essen..

I had a 20th Feb build date and that car is STILL in Germany.
VWFS and Audi UK were adamant that they wouldn't cover the VED, but so was I that I wouldn't cover it either.
It was similar for me; I couldn't get past the feeling of being somewhat shafted for their (Audi's) incompetence.
