As were all getting that bit closer to receiving our S5s, I have a quick question. For those of you looking to get a new car detail done near Manchester area - who do you recommend and how do you arrange it?

For example, are you asking to have the car delivered directly to the detailers completely unwrapped, or are you going to have the car delivered to you first unwrapped but not cleaned and then drive it to detailers yourself? Or even having it semi cleaned then drive ot to detailers yourself?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

http://www.miglior.co.uk/ Jay at Miglior in Accrington - I wouldnt even consider anyone else. You will find cheaper but it wont be as good. You get what you pay for as for the most part you are paying for the man hours involved. Jay did my Golf R and S5. Take a look at the Miglior Detailing Facebook page for a look at the results the produce. You will also see a few cars that were taken elsewhere that he had to then sort out!
I had a new car detail on the S5 with the wheels off option.

Ask the dealer to not do any form of cleaning on the car inside or out. They will likely see it as a strange request (most dealers are not used to it) but be insistant. Tell them to only remove the packaging that is required to come off for the PD inspection by the dealer (checking the car for damage etc) and leave everything else as is. My car came with carboard wtill attached to the inside and bits of blue foam along the boot close, covers on the seats etc.
Ideally get it dropped off at the detailer just to save hassle and miles on the clock. I had to get mine delivered to work so i drove it.

Just the 10,000, pffft.

Once a day for me, well maybe two, three if someone on this thread mentions moment, or four if two posters mention moment; five if I'm board watching TV at night, or 6 if it's a long night or I can't get to sleep. hehe

Thanks Simon, appreciate the advice. That detailing looks extremely well done...I think I'll give them a call. I agree that you get what you pay for and when you have an expensive and highly desirable car like the S5, imo you really need to put cost aside (within reason) and go for the best within budget.

My Sportback just moved up a week to the 20th of March. I assume that's locked in now. I ordered at the end of Nov.

Dealer has said my car has been released by the factory and is awaiting transit. They reckon 10-14 days.........

I have car to sell, going to be a juggling act!

Mine was originally due to start construction 1st May but moved forward to 17th April, so two weeks better.
Cancelled order from CVL, so hoping they dont increase the VED charges. I am paying £3600 initial payment which works out more than +9 so i feel they have already included the increase.
But Got a case open with Audi and they say, the dealer are undecided what to do regarding the VED, so just expecting the email anytime from CVL.

Ordered White with black seats and VC. Keep thinking i want more options.. surprised folding mirrors and blacked out windows are not standard, even my Fiesta ST has those...
Was looking at ACC and thats an extra £1k so no chance of getting that. Same with the advanced parking system.

When they call me and say the car is registered I'm not going to want delay it, been waiting for ages smile

Tracker now says in transit.

Brilliant, just checked mine and it's gone into stage 3 preparation since the last time I checked this morning. Was supposed to be March 6th build start date so well chuffed.

More filler needed probably.

Forgive my ignorance, but why go to the expense of having a brand new car detailed? I can understand the expense after a few k on the clock to keep it top notch.
Are you suggesting that dealers make a pigs ear of prepping it before collection, and if so what are the issues in your experience?

I test drive the new Tiguan a couple of weeks back, it had the vertual cockpit and I thought it was excellent.
On the S5 its a £250 option, so assume it will add £10 per month to the lease - in my opinion I'd have it over the flat bottom stealing wheel.

Still trying to vet me lease confirmed, but assuming it goes through I'll be going for:
Flat black
Red leather
Virtual cockpit

For me, no need to option anything else, it's got a very good level of spec to start with. It's replacing an SLK as a daily driver, so nice to have a load more toys to play with.
The flat bottomed steering wheel makes it a lot easier to get in and out off as the car as it is quite low, you will be surprised by how much. In my HO it is worth £100.

Random question to those already with the cars...what fuel do you run the car on? Does it need high-octane fuel e.g. Shell V-Power?
