If I'm absolutely, totally, completely honest. The only reason I haven't told them to stick it up their ring already is that the car's in such short supply and high demand they'd probably welcome that.

I don't want to give them any positives from this whatsoever, so it will be made as difficult for them as it possibly can be.

I'm waiting for a call from BMW at the moment.

So yours is still in Emden then?

Your story has all the hallmarks of my Golf R in 2015. On the VWROC forums there was a similar thread to this and each and every day I was checking to see how other peoples orders were progressing. I was finding more and more people that ordered AFTER me were getting their cars BEFORE me...

I was constantly chasing VW and the long and the short was that my car had somehow got backed into a corner in Emden, meaning that cars that were built after mine were shipped before mine. It was painstaking but worth it in the end as I loved the Golf!!!

Just think though, if you hadn't found this thread you'd be none the wiser as to finding out that people have their cars before you (That's the way I looked at it two years ago!!!!) biggrin

Edit: Just to say it took 7 months and 1 day for my Golf R to arrive from order date. Ouch!!!

My paperwork is finally being emailed through to me today, it now has the registration number of the car, although worryingly noted as registration date 31st March, so assuming they have actually assigned the number plate to the car as of yet?
Regardless, I have turned it round within the space of an hour, printed, signed in all the right places and post it back to them along with my driving licence via recorded delivery - that must be record timing.
I have been told by Melissa at JCT600 that she has been told the car is due to arrive with them "by mid week". I now got my fingers crossed that they can deliver it by Friday 31st. I got the boys weekend in Devon booked for that weekend and would like to at least have the opportunity of using the Audi if the weather was bad. It would be a bad way to run it in.

The main thing is is that your car is registered on the 31st so at least you'll avoid the VED hike!

If you have read my earlier response to one of your posts it mentions the fact that the reg number that appears on your paperwork will be the actual reg of the car (As you'd expect it to be)

So looks like one more that's avoided the VED increase... biggrin

Don't know if it's even got there yet, Nick.

Fair point regarding not being any the wiser if it wasn't for the internet, however the April VED change was always on the cards and at no point was there any mention whatsoever that cars ordered as early as mine was could be caught up in that.

If anything, I was advised that it might not be a '17 plate as it could arrive before March.

The broker wasn't advised there could be an issue with such early orders either and they said they wouldn't have accepted the orders without discussing with customers, had Audi given them any idea whatsoever that there could be an issue.

I wouldn't mind the waiting so much if it wasn't the case that on a whim Audi will decide who gets stung for the many hundreds extra for the VED, and who doesn't, by dint of them deciding, seemingly ad-hoc, whose car will go where and on what day.

If you look at in the context of, "Let this one and this one go today Barry; leave that one which was ordered a month earlier here for now, they can pay for the VED increase" it's not quite so palatable.

For anyone wondering if they will have to pay the extra VED, this is apparently the situation.

Audi will only pay up if the car is at Emden and it was 'called off' by 28 February (in other words it went to 'status 30' by end of Feb).

Or...

If the car is already at the UK Port with a compound entry date and transport order dated 2 weeks before the cut-off (i.e. on or before 17 March) but doesn't then get registered by 31st, for a reason other than the customer or dealer delaying it on purpose.

I think that its that they don't care, more than they make a conscious decision what car goes before what. The German guy at Emden loading cars won't care who gets their car first, unless he is told to load a particular car, but I suspect its that they put cars for each port in their own car park and then they come and get them but not in a "first in first out" basis. And it would take a very long time to load and unload cars if they were looking for/going to specific cars in thousands. I think its similar at Grimsby, its a lottery as to when your car get collected. They will take the car off the boat and park it in the correct area for your dealer. If your car in in among 100 cars for a dealer then it may get collected next day or in a months time.

I'm not defending them just saying why I think it is how it is.

My main issue with your situation is that there seems to be no special expediting system for getting things that are delayed because of their issues at the factory, such as a few parking spaces at port that are "must go on the next boat" and likewise at arrival to the UK "must go on next lorry", and then you seem to have lost in the port lottery at the German end too which exacerbates the situation. They should be trying their hardest to make your car catch up but they seem to have a bit of a s*** happens attitude towards it.

I still genuinely think there must be a chance of our cars being registered before the end of the month - we've still eight working days for someone to get hold of some form of paperwork, and then get the car registered.
I have just been chasing V4B, and thought this may be relevant to you. JCT are waiting for the date when they will be getting their next delivery from the port, apparently she is chasing my car and another one which I am guessing is yours...

At least you may not have to pay then. But if I was in either of you two's positions I would be strongly thinking of cancelling. Only thing is there isn't a lot else about that's anywhere near as appealing.

Absolutely unbelievable from Audi and terrible terrible customer service on their part!!!!

I think we are amongst a few others who ordered their cars at the back end of October and you're right, my concern was getting the car in Feb, as they suggested it would arrive when in fact I wanted it towards the end of March and on a 17 plate. Now you're going to be struggling to even get it before the end of bloody March together with an increase in VED which like you say isn't something that I had even considered based on the lead times I'd be informed about. What a joke!!!!

Is there no way you can open an official complaint by calling Audi customer service and explaining the circumstances? They should in theory issue you with a complaint number and then follow it through. Ask for your complaint to be directed to a manager as I know when I had the issues with my Golf 2 years ago, it's only when I asked for my complaint to be escalated did anybody actually start to take any bloody notice of me!!!!! (The muppets on first line customer service don't give a stuff at the end of the day and each one basically repeated what the previous one told me!!!)

I know you mentioned about BMW but if you were to keep the Audi, there is absolutely NO WAY that I would be paying the additional VED if I were you and I'd be making that point to Audi as I'm sure you've done already...

Apologies if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs here but just trying to offer help based on my experience with VW 2 years ago! smile

To those who have the car....

Anyone having any issues with audi connect. Mine keeps disconnecting every 5 minutes or so (random locations doesn't seem linkedgeree to signal) it tells me to activate data connection and to insert a sim card.

When I took it to audi they did a reset bu5 hasn't changed anything.

On a side note.... if anyone needs some speed camera location files then I can send them to you. Seems to work well in my car.
Hi Jacob can't help on the SIM card but can you try your own SIM is it nano?
Re: speed cameras - did you follow some of the guides such as http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/speed-camera-...
I take it you got the data from pocketgpsworld and did you do OTA and enable the notifications and change zoom level via changing categories.pc file? sorry for all the questions smile

Good point.

Porkinsider, I would note down all the specifics in a letter and then send the Audi UK. Maybe addressed to this guy at Milton Keynes.

Have been reading these posts out of interest. If it helps in your written complaints you can reference this as a comparison, My SB was ordered end of October 2016, build started 20th February, arrived at Grimsby port on 6th March, registered 8th March, and was delivered a week ago on 16th March. My delivery was promised on or by 20th March, so was actually a few days early.
All of these current delays make absolutely no sense to me at all, and it would seem that it is just a lottery with who gets what and when, and as a consequence some are potentially loosing out on the new VED which was NOT anticipated at point of ordering, and as a result the delay is either Audi AG OR UK's fault (or both) and/or even the lease company, and whom in my opinion should compensate for the additional consequential cost incurred.
