Jacob/Simon, do your cars have the standard headlamps? If so, do they steer (like the Golfs do) or are the matrix ones the only ones that will point round corners?

Cheers!

I don't think the standard LED headlights are adaptive but do have high beam assist as standard.

No not adaptive as standard. Makes you realise just how much kit comes with a golf r. They are very bright though a few people have flashed me thinking i have full beam on.
Cant see anywhere that tells you to put 98 RON or above in either although I use it.

A lot of technical info here:

Data Sheet

and

Technical Press Release

The data sheet has "Premium sulfur-free according to DIN EN 228 / 95 RON" written in the fuel spec.

This is all on Audi Media Center, some interesting stuff about most of their models on here

I think the mk6 GTI had them as standard, let alone mk7 R! Its to give people more reasons to go for the matrix ones. I still keep pondering about them but its £500 over 2 years. I would probably get more pleasure out of paying £600 and getting Misano Red!

Don't think they are adaptive headlights as such but they definetly change where they are pointing when you break and stuff (maybe it's just fog lights coming on).. don't know how to describe but you see a sudden change in the lighting at various times.

They also have the auto high beam assist which works a lot better than my old qashqai version.

The standard lights are excellent though! I do a back lanes route to work and always think they look very good and bright.

Yeah I just think I will miss the steering aspect! The matrix ones look very useful, just not £20 a month useful!

I didnt find any advantage to the ones on the R to be honest. i find these standard audi lights superior in terms of brightness and spread

I suppose if the spread is good then it wont be a problem. The Golf ones almost seem narrow for the sake of accentuating the steering aspect

I've got the same adaptive xenons on my caddy van as the Golf and non adaptive xenons on the A5, the lanes near us with tight bends are much better lit in the caddy than the A5. The led matrix lights are completely different to the adaptive xenons as they don't physically turn like xenons but use a separate set of led light diodes that come on and off depending on what the camera picks up in front whether it's rear lights of the car in front or headlights of oncoming traffic. I've never tried matrix lights before and only seen videos of how they work so looking forward to actually having them on the S5 when it eventually arrives.

Just called - he says audi have now pulled the deal due to a production issue. I'm guessing its just a lack of allocation available. :-(
I've been emailing the dealer whom I've ordered through and mentioned that there is someone on the forum who is looking to order an S5 and asked if they can match or even better the current deals and if so I could put their details up, but she's said that their group are not allowed to put their details on a website forum. So I've said that I could pm you if they can do a decent deal, I'm just waiting back for a reply and will pm you if they can still be competitive, however she did say that Audi were having a price increase today on their cars. I'll keep you informed.

In case anyone's interested, I contacted my supplying broker today asking if they had any information regarding delays and causes - and had this reply:

"I am not aware of an engine shortage, the reason they are showing as delayed right now is due to part of the factory shutting down for Christmas.
When it reopenes the vehicles will start going into build and we will find out soon when there confirmed build dates are and give you a more precise date"

If that is correct its better news than a potential engine shortage, which does sound suspect..

Anyway, I'm sure we will find out in a couple of weeks time..

Yes I was wondering if the normal LED physically moved like the Xenons in the Golf. I knew the main feature of the matrix one was the multi LED arrangement. Is yours a new A5 or an old one?

Old shape A5 as pictured on the previous page, sold it last night and not sure what to replace that with yet and looking at soft roaders to convertibles. Just needs to be different to the S5.

Just got off the phone with Audi Guy for an update.

Still not sure on the VED costs and also got an email looking at a delivery date of Q4 2017, yes read that again thats what he said.

This is for a March delivery car, delayed until May/June currently.
Audi are not 100% sure, so that is why no one else has been told.

He does however have a Coupe on the ground available for next week. Cancelled order.

Audi S5 Coupe 3.0 TFSi 354ps Quattro Tip

Daytona Grey Metallic

Magma Red/Black Seats

No options except that Grey paint.

Price is £374 a month.
Initial £3600.
Both prices inclusive of VAT. Will not match my CVL quote of £334, i have already asked.
Anyone interested in that? I can pass on the details via PM.

This sounds more than a little worrying, when you say Audi guy is that someone a main dealer or someone who is working at head office?
I'm just wondering if it's time to start worrying.
I'm sure most of you, when I ordered my sport back I was told late February early March, I sceptically assumed end of March at the latest.
My current build date is still showing 10th April which am guessing with would be delivery for the middle of May - however if all of a sudden it looks like it could be delayed until much later in the year I don't think I can wait that long.
I could do with knowing sooner rather than later, I had already decided if the S5 was not going to be them I will probably buy something to have some fun with the next couple of years.

Yeah not very considerate of the fact that people are trying to plan things is it? I need to sort something by the end of April whether it be an extension to my current car or a different lease. I will be gutted if its delayed until back end as it will mean I will probably have to cancel

My lease car was due to go back yesterday, but have extended it on an informal basis. I'm happy to do this for a few months, but certainly don't want to do it for the rest of the year.

Was offered a cancelled order today, much more expensive, about +£1500 over the term compared to what they were a few weeks ago, they advised that the price increase was mostly due to VED rises being factored in now...
