I just contacted my leasing company and apparently there are a lot of people experiencing delays due to production issues (engine shortages).

My car had a build date for the 30th of this month so I really hope it doesn't get pushed back.

Went to York Audi a few minutes ago as I was at Clifton Moor anyway, A5 and S5 sportbacks under cover and they initially said they would show me but then changed their mind even though the car is coming from JCT. Anyway they said it will be on show tomorrow, I presume they are having a launch or something.

It has around £12000 worth of options on it!

I am going across tomorrow, will take a few pictures for you, particularly the black S5

Cheers, I will hopefully get over in the next week or so, keen to see the space in it vs a coupe.

I'd say a typo to be honest...

Me too, they won't have had chance to measure it properly at the press day anyway will they?

Day to day it gives a sense of being quicker due to the torque but give it beans and it feels a little short of breath at the top end where the Golf R came alive.
Still reserving judgement as the car is still so new and tight. I think ill have the true picture once I had 2,000 miles plus on the S5.

The fact you cant view song info on the main radio view is really frustrating me when you can on a basic Polo media system.
Finally tried the massage function and it strange but acutally quite good - find i am using it most of the time I am in the car now and also adjusted the bolsters to be a little tighter.
Not tried Android Auto yet as still dont have an Android cable from Audi but have been assured this has been posted out to me. At least they let me keep the Apple one (Mrs has an iPhone).
One thing I liked about the Golf media system was you could in the phone section select your 5 favourites and assign a pic of that person so when they called a pic would come up along with their name. Doesnt look like you can do that in the Audi system either.
Also figure out you can push the gear selector to the left to make it stay in manual mode - hadnt realised.

Overall still loving the car but there are a few frustrations creeping in now as I get more time in the car.

Perhaps it has the system a bit like BMW - when I looked in one the other day I can see a series of what looked like six number buttons, just above the selector switches for media, navigation etc and just below the drinks holders. Our most modern BMWs these are touch sensitive buttons that can be assigned to do anything you need from a shortcut to a navigation screen to dialling your most common telephone number. For BMW you press it wants to activate it, or press and hold to save whatever function you got on the screen to that button - Is it perhaps the same system with the Audi?
If it's not the same, what are the six buttons for? Surely they're not all there to store radio stations?

Ill take a look tonight. Not tried to do anything with those number keys yet. Might be able to do the pics via SD

General question that sprung to mind with Simon's comments about the Android cable, any ideas what the oldest supported iPod is? I have a 5th gen I use for in the Golf at the moment. I am considering buying an SD card for my music though and using the iPod elsewhere.

I'll have to make sure it comes with an Android cable too as there won't be an iPhone going anywhere near the car (at least belonging to me or my partner)

One niggle I had with the car I test drove was the positioning of the 'drive select' switch, seen in picture below. While ideally positioned for easy access on left hand drive cars, I found it a bit of an awkward stretch in right hand drive. Have you found this? I am sure will leave it in auto most of time anyway so maybe not an issue, or perhaps there's a quick way to change that setting elsewhere

I was thinking the other day if that had been moved over with RHD, obviously not. Loads of VAG cars seem to be best geared up switch wise for LHD, even when the dashboard itself is different!

Im only 5'10 and i can reach it without any issues. I change it quite a lot between Efficiency and Dynamic. My journey to work is backroads first so Dynamic, then i hit standard streets so Efficiency, then short M Way burst so Dynamic, then up into the city in stop start traffic so Efficiency. Stop start is ALWAYS off.
I do wish I had specced auto hold espcially how cheap it is but hey!

Thanks Simon. I am similar height, I must have short arms! As it was a test drive I didn't really have the seat properly set up in the best position, I was probably further back and lower than I would like.

Does yours have adaptive dampers? If so, is it worth it?

I'm assuming that they'd moved the start stop button across to the opposite side? it would be daft to have it over on the passenger side.

Just a few things to point out from above few comments....

The car seems very quick to me... my neighbour and I had a bit of a drag race (up to about 90mph). He has a shiny new focus RS and I used launch control. Don't think he knew how to work his but anyway... I was miles ahead.. my neighbour said he felt like I shot off then he started to pull back a bit but I didn't see anything pulling back.

On the note of the android/apple wire. I didn't receive either with my car! Maybe I will enquire however I have never received a wire with any of my cars and the USB wires cost about 50p online so not to fussed!

I have found you can program the drive mode selector (the dynamic auto economy thing) to the steering wheel... the little Star simple on the wheel is a programmable button and you decide what it does from a list of about 6-7 things. I picked drive select and now one click of the button brings up drive select and a few more clicks cycles through the options... much easier and don't have to get distracted.

Not had many niggles apart from the following...

Car sounds a bit ticky when cold. Not sure if this is normal but can here a slight ticking under revs under warmed up.

The other thing which is annoying is the headlight jet spray things.... right now I can deal with it but after spending some time waxing or polishing the spray will really pissue me off... see image below!

If its the same as my A7, the headlight washers only activate when the headlight setting is either set to "On" or "Auto".

If the car is clean (which it seldom is), I just turn the headlight switch to "Off" and pull the windscreen washer switch - no cleaning of headlights.

Be interested to know if its the same set-up..
