Interesting vs the RS, I suppose the power/weight ratio won't be a lot different (the RS is a bit heavier than a Golf R IIRC) and the torque curve on the S5 will be loads better I bet. And the gear change.

If its the same as my A7, the headlight washers only activate when the headlight setting is either set to "On" or "Auto".

If the car is clean (which it seldom is), I just turn the headlight switch to "Off" and pull the windscreen washer switch - no cleaning of headlights.

Be interested to know if its the same set-up..
That sounds about the same set up as most modern cars with headlight washers, I know it's the same on my BMWs and the Jaguar so assume that it must be the same on this?

I used launch control.
I've been meaning to ask, this just reminded me, how easy is launch control? Is it a simple button or is it press this and hold that? I don't remember reading anything in any reviews about launch control or for that matter on the Audi web site.

Pretty easy.. just make sure stop.start is off (so it doesn't cut out!) And press the traction control button once... then foot hard on brake plus the accelerator and let go.....

I'll have to make sure it comes with an Android cable too as there won't be an iPhone going anywhere near the car (at least belonging to me or my partner)
Same for me too mate with my Android although my missus does have an iPhone but she'll be happy just using the bluetooth for receiving calls etc...

Just a few things to point out from above few comments....

The car seems very quick to me... my neighbour and I had a bit of a drag race (up to about 90mph). He has a shiny new focus RS and I used launch control. Don't think he knew how to work his but anyway... I was miles ahead.. my neighbour said he felt like I shot off then he started to pull back a bit but I didn't see anything pulling back.

On the note of the android/apple wire. I didn't receive either with my car! Maybe I will enquire however I have never received a wire with any of my cars and the USB wires cost about 50p online so not to fussed!

I have found you can program the drive mode selector (the dynamic auto economy thing) to the steering wheel... the little Star simple on the wheel is a programmable button and you decide what it does from a list of about 6-7 things. I picked drive select and now one click of the button brings up drive select and a few more clicks cycles through the options... much easier and don't have to get distracted.

Not had many niggles apart from the following...

Car sounds a bit ticky when cold. Not sure if this is normal but can here a slight ticking under revs under warmed up.

The other thing which is annoying is the headlight jet spray things.... right now I can deal with it but after spending some time waxing or polishing the spray will really pissue me off... see image below!
Mine makes that ticky sound when cold as well. Quite noticeable isnt it! Interesting on the RS comparison.

In fairness I'll be using Bluetooth rather than the Android Car or whatever it's called. Not sure what it achieves on a car that has access to google maps anyway as there isn't a lot else you can do on it is there?

I use it for music apps.. I have used deezer and amazon music apps on it and they are pretty good. The voice control for my music is also good however if you have your music collection stored on your phone and not embedded in an app then the standard music navigation is pretty good.

My fiancee uses siri a lot on her iPhone

Good find! Notice the only comment is one whinging about how they prefer the old 4.2 engine that hasn't been a thing since 2008 to "small turbo engines"..... they obviously own a petrol station or something.

Today I have sat in a UK right-hand drive registered S5 sport back.............

I was really lucky, my father had to be driving down a road not far from me when he spotted three car transporters in a layby, loaded with new Audi's. Knowing that I had got on on order and that I haven't sat in one yet he did a U-turn and called into the layby to have a closer look.
It transpires that these 3x double-decker transporters were loaded with a mixture of S-line and S5 sport back 2017 cars and with there for a press launch. think they may have been five cars in each level of each transporter, but to be honest I didn't count.
I got the call from him late afternoon and jumped in the car to go have a look myself. The guys were just finishing loading up the transporters and about to head home, but they were kind enough to open up a couple of the cars and let me sit in one and look around another.

I got to sit in a white S5 with grey leather, it looked to be fully loaded with upgraded sound and summary as well as the carbon interior. I also got closely look around a black S5 although that one was not so good and sit in it. I must admit I love the look of them. Struggled however to easily spot the difference between an S5 and S-line especialhy since the S-line had upgraded wheels.

The press launch was being held at a place called Ayno House, it was going on all day yesterday and all day today. If I had only been a bit earlier I could have got the trip round the block in one as the delivery guys were moving them around and taking them from one place to another.
I didn't want to push my luck by taking lots of photos, to be honest they really would show you any more than you can see on the Internet, but it was really good to see that UK production, right-hand drive Sportback S5s do actually exist.

My father also spotted another one further down the road with a camera crew taking loads of pictures, so I suspect we should see some UK reviews in the very near future.
First time I've logged on in a few days and gutted to see that there was an Audi launch at Aynhoe Park. My sister in law is the PA to James who owns the house and she knows I've ordered an S5 and didn't tell me as I could have popped over for a coffee and casually looked around.

Simon, Jacob, I recall on pics of yours I thought I noticed it didn't have the fog lamps in the lower grille? Am I wrong? I notice that one in York does have and was wondering if anyone knew why?

They're not foglights they're the radar sensors for the adaptive cruise control. Is that Brilliant or Mythos black?

Aah that explains it then. Its Mythos, I saw the sheet yesterday with the spec on, I just couldn't look at the thing!

I wonder how much "worse" brilliant black without privacy will look?

Interior is black. I didn't like the wheels they have fitted

Looks great, but I am still erring towards the blue.

Also a pic below of the grey which looked better than I thought!

Yeah I prefer the standard wheels. Could do with knowing if there is a misano red one nearby to look at. There is a tango red coupe in York that looked nice.

The black sportback with privacy looks lovely - in a different league to that god awful white one from a few pages back. White doesnt work well on this A5 coupe or sportback (in my view anyhew) and i dont mind white cars (we have a new white polo gti).
If anyone regrets not speccing privacy i had audi get them tinted via a subcontractor and the results are excellent. No bubbles or anything

Thanks for the pics and the you tube video is great, love how you can look around the cabin.

Mine is still saying 10th April, waiting on the dealer and lease company to get back to me.
