I do, I aren't keen on the black styling packs the world seems to have gone nuts about. So is the car in the pic with an official black pack that's a prototype/non standard build or is it aftermarket?

Was done by a customisation firm, wrapped I think, have to agree... the "black pack" doesn't suit it

Only time black pack works to me is on a white or black car with black alloys, and the black pack A4 (as an example) doesn't have any black alloys for the car anyway so you have to have some sort of silver on it

MPG Update.....

16.9MPG!
Anyone got any experience of Audi engines loosening up and to what extent? 17MPG is a p1ss take based on Audis official figures. My M135i, little lighter but similar engine and output does a reliable 27mpg combined.

They could have stuck a 5.0 V8 in it and improved the MPG, going by the Mustang real mpg figures.hehe

On another note, my date has moved from the 10th to the 3rd April. High five.

It will improve, or be better on your run. The BMW isn't 4WD either bear in mind which in itself will be 1 or 2 MPG I bet.

The B8 S4 & B8.5 S4/5 ones were better than that and they had a supercharger that allegedly used around 30% of the engine's power on full chat or something. Can't remember where I read/heard that. Probably on the internet so it must have been true.

I have been resisting the urge to go and test drive either a coupe or the just available Sportback on the basis that I ordered one and I know in terms of power will be a step up from my daily driver. However with all these crazy low real world MPG figures I am now tempted to see if I can " borrow one" for an afternoon from my local dealer and drive it on the roads than I'm used to driving on and just see what MPG I return during the test drive. Once I finish nailing it off the line a few times, I probably reset the MPG and then drive it as I intend.
On a daily basis go near dual carriageways and motorways, most of my journeys are A roads and predominantly B roads with a mixture of traffic conditions.

If your commute is generally more than 30mph (which I can do taking a different route) you can take it easy in efficiency mode and get combined closer to 30mpg. It only dips down when you are in a 0-30 speed area with lots of speed changes (even when feathering the accelerator.. I have tried driving at snail pace and barely helps)

And as I said before... on motorways in efficiency mode it is surprisingly good.

One would expect that this will get better with loosening the engine up a bit too, the frictional forces in the engine will be far more noticeable at lower fuel input (one would expect given a higher % of the fuel is to overcome friction)

Maybe I am being too optimistic?

90% of my commute is A-B roads at 60mph ish so it shouldn't be too bad based on what you have said.

These figures have to be a misrepresentation of "combined". As said earlier, my 2007 4.0 V8 M3 managed 19MPG average and we have come a long way since then.

Be interesting to get some other views of other journey types.

Once a few more of you guys get your s5s we will have to start a more specific thread on here or on a5oc to discuss ongoing features/mods concerns etc.

I think the figures the manufacturers provide are so far from 'real world' use that there isn't any point in even looking at them. The way they conduct their tests is a joke and should really be flagged up.

Has anyone ordered a Coupe but wished they have ordered a Sportback?

Agreed. However this is beyond "far from real world". They are quoting 28MPG URBAN and he is getting 16MPG COMBINED.

Official fuel consumption figures for the Audi S5 Sportback, in mpg (l/100km) from: Urban 28.5 (9.9),
Extra Urban 46.3 (6.1), Combined 37.7 (7.5). CO2 emissions 170g/km.*

I definitely agree with what you guys are saying. My Golf R gives me around 24-25 around town but should be 32 (official). Recently, just before it was due a service, I was also getting around 16 but since the service (oil change) it has gone back up so the comments re the engine loosening up might be true...

This is exactly my thoughts and something I posted a few pages back. My last M3, a V8 like yours, averaged about the same 19 MPG and that included driving it pretty hard most of the time with just the odd relatively short motorway journey but mainly cross-country.
I just struggled to get my head around the fact that a 3 L V6 with a turbo seems to be getting nearly identical figures - will fully appreciate that a new performance car tends to get driven hard, I guess that's the reason why I'm thinking I might give one a test drive after all now know for myself what the figures are like in my own real world situation.

I'm lucky, I don't have a commute, I work from home. I use my daily driver to go from my home/office to visit my clients. I very rarely drive in cities and not very much in towns either, most of my driving is cross-country and through various villages.Because of the type of driving, it does give me chance quite often to put a foot down and open it up, however, with all cross-country driving sometimes you just get stuck behind things and dawdle along so averaged out my driving is a real mix of flat to the floor and following Farmer Giles for mile after mile.

Mine just moved from the 17th to the 10th of April too. Did everyone just get bumped up a week?

I have deliberately not been looking at the Audi tracking site for the last week, but finally decided to take a look after hearing a few people have had their dates brought forward. I'm gutted, mine is still showing April 10th which is how it's been since just before Christmas.
Hopefully it changes over the next couple of days, but not holding my breath.
