Makes sense then, I think they go into lockdown about a month beforehand? I bet the car I am getting is a 20th of Feb car too, I have asked for the tracking details on the car I am actually getting, so hopefully will have that tomorrow. On tracking has it moved beyond "order received" yet?
Mine was always 13th then 10th April now 20th Feb, stills on order received

There was mention of somebody adding the multi coloured LEDs to the spec (which I will possibly getting as I am contemplating the extra £500 for the light and vision pack over the VC, which adds the Matrix LEDs and the coloured LEDs).

I wonder if they try and put you off (V4B) as when all is said and done they have got their fee, and as little work as they can do between order and delivery the better on their part. And that's a way to fob the customer off (or discourage them) without looking bad. Maybe I am being cynical?
That was me mate. I emailed Fleetsauce the week before last and they simply emailed me a revised order form with the new spec which I signed and returned via email. When I logon to MyAudi I can see that the spec has now been updated to include the extended LED package.

Build date has been showing as the 20th of Feb since before xmas and is still the 20th of Feb so no change there. I would expect that changes to orders CAN be made up until the point that the order is locked down so just push the broker if you want to change spec/colour.

You're probably right that the brokers might steer you clear of making changes to an order since it's more work for them to have to consult the supplying dealer. Less work for us though!!! biggrin

I eventually placed the order on the 5th December direct with an Audi dealer and the original build date was the 6th February although this has gone backwards and forwards to the 20th March and back again a few times but nothing to do with changing the spec. I asked initially about changing the spec as I wasn't sure on certain options and she said that there would be a cutoff point but it wouldn't affect the build date. I' spec'd just flat bottom wheel, vision and light pack and privacy glass then changed the spec by adding traffic sign recognition and head up display, and then more recently added folding mirrors and memory seats. None of these additions made any difference to the build date and they were showing in the spec list the very next day on myaudi tracker.

Got the same email today, what a load of crap :-(

Been trying to be patient as up until now fleetsauce have been pretty good with keeping me informed. Now just feel let down by them. It was a double blow email, ordered 11th Nov was hoping for Feb/march delivery, so May/June will be June 4 month delay and then the extra cost.

Now to sort a loan to pay off PCP in April which is just not what I wanted to be doing...
Might be time to give up on the S5, darn shame.

I have just assumed that there was a limited amount of the S5's that were being offered at the original price and once they have the quota signed up for the deal with stop.. I also assume, because the deal was in my opinion really good that it was based on trying to fill up all the books and keep the factory process running whilst the new shape car gained traction and started to fill up all the books through the normal main dealer channels. I would have thought that is where most of these "bargain" type offers tend to come from but it's not my area of expertise.

Now seriously trying to work out what I want to do, part of me thinks just stick with it, but a small part of me is saying cancel it and go and buy something instead. I certainly haven't spotted anything that might be interesting in terms of current lease deals.
its interesting you say its a really good deal. I think it is but on the leasing thread forum somebody said it was not deal-worthy as it was around 25% of the RRP rather than 20% or whatever the target of the thread is. Some seem to forget that this car will depreciate quicker than a diesel of a similar price because of the fuel economy, so should be dearer to lease, and if you compare to what you can get C43s for it looks a steal!
The lease thread is a great source of data, but an awful lot of it is all about getting the absolute cheapest car absolute cheapest price - in comparison the S5 while generating a bit of interest when it first appeared wasn't really the main type of car that appeals to the masses. Just the fuel usage alone would put most people searching through the lease thread off going for an S5 even at its price point.
I spent the last couple of months searching quite hard just to see if there was an alternative to the S5 at anything close to its price point and nothing was getting close to it at all in terms of budget.
The only other car I considered and nearly ordered (apart from the missed £299+vat A8 BE) was the BMW 640 M Sport Gran Coupe and with options added was the same if not slightly cheaper than the S5 and that listed at just over £70k, although I believe that was strictly a business lease hire.

Where was that BMW 640 deal? Is that still available?

It was available through BMW dealers and should have said that was for the 640d and not the 640i. Not sure if those deals are still about but what was interesting is that BMW didn't charge the full amount for options like others do, for example adding the MSport plus pack which was HK, head up display, traffic sign recognition and 20" alloys was I think from memory only about 60% of the full cost of the option over the two year term. It truly was a cracking deal and spec'd everything I wanted including colour etc and very nearly ordered but then came the A8 deal which I would have preferred but missed out on as all cars apparently went within 24 hours, and then hesitated on the BMW which is when the S5 deal started coming out.

Looks like all 20th feb build dates may be ok, however waiting for fleetsauce to get back to me today as they are asking dealer for confirmation.

Are the delays only effecting the sportback?

My Coupe has a building date of the 30th of this month - I hope it remains that way!

Im guessing so, as the Sportback was slightly cheaper on lease so will have been more popular. You would either need a car sooner (before the sportback went into production) or really prefer the coupe to get the coupe while both are available I would think. For me it was a no contest as I prefer the look of the Sportback and the extra doors, cheaper price, hatchback boot are all pluses for me.

That's fair! I'm happy with the Coupe look, I just want it delivered when specified!

I prefer the coupe look too but the Sportback for this new model looks much nicer than the last - i really would be happy with either! I dont have kids and having had the car a month I have only every had 1 passenger so the rear has not been used yet. I actually must try and sit in the back just to see what its like.
Both cars look lovely - I do think the SB is more colour sensitive though based on its size. The white one from half a dozen pages back is a good example.
