Just been looking at a main dealer used Mk 7 Gti DSG - one year old, 20k miles. A couple of questions:

1) Rear tyres were original Bridgestone, but fronts had been replaced - Kumho Ecstas. Are these any good on a Gti? I certainly would not consider them on my TVR.
2) First Golf I have looked at with a panoramic sunroof. Any issue I should be aware of with these - leaks, rattles etc?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Bridgestones are awful so probably won't be any worse.

I wouldn't worry about tyres, they are easy enough to replace. If you don't want the fronts then you can have fun wearing them out at a faster than usual rate.

Agreed, swapped mine for a cheap set of Avons which are surprisingly much better. The Bridgestones had fully worn out past illegal levels on the front by 25k.

I think we have looked at the same car. Was it in a dealer on the south coast? I agree that the Kumho tyres aren't ideal but figured I can swipe them out. Rest of the car is great. IMO.

Regarding sunroof, I know many people will have had no issues with theirs, I did. Mine constantly creaked and rattled. I had to persistently lubricate all of the seals with Krytox which did help but never really properly fixed it.

Yep, Peter Cooper. Have you bought it?

Ha! Yes, picked it up yesterday having had two new bridgestones put on. Ironically having read reviews of the Bridgestones they are probably no better, i can admit I am a tyre snob. No creaks from sunroof and I am over the moon with the car.

I hope you find another if that is what you are after and wish you very happy motoring.
